I truly wish she'd just go away. Manufactured music is the normal anymore, which is sad. Gone are the days of true musicians who write their own stuff, perform it themselves, and have the talent and knowledge to excel at both. I don't know if you will ever see anyone win the triumvirate of music awards: a Grammy, Tony, and an Oscar. I believe there are only two or three artists who have ever done that; I know Elton John and Phil Collins did it, and I'm pretty sure Billy Joel did it as well but not 100% positive. You just don't see people with that talent anymore. Wait, let me correct that: you SEE people with that talent, they just do not fit in with what the music marketing people believe would be successful anymore. "American Idol" and those other shows make my point. Reality show, my ass. If it was a reality show, why do they need writers and how are the cameras ALWAYS exactly where they need to be? I've been to a couple AI tryouts and they turn people away that are WAY more talented than the ones they pick, but either aren't attractive enough or just don't fit into the "pop music" mold. It's truly sad. I believe that the Rolling Stones would not have ever made it in today's music world.

That is a big problem with music today. I am not a musically inclined person, but since advent of the music video, image is king! Example, most modern women artists come in the three varieties, cute, hot, and "I'll marry you if you show any signs of a personality ."

Agreed. THe show is different in England, from what I see. Plus, she is not marketable to the target audience that AI is trying to get (and failing now). I would not be surprised if American Idol ended after this season. I think that reality TV is starting to run its course..
It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.

If AI fails this season it won't be because of the talent.

It'll be because of idiot female judges. Especially the Gaga wannabe.

I only watch such shows the first few weeks for the giggle factor. After that its pretty much predictable, ending with a press of a button on the remote control.

Thank you for your insightful off-topic post.

Back on topic ... I tried to watch AI this year, but Minaj and Carey hurt my ears. Frankly i'd rather listen to some of the mis-pitching delusional jokers that are trying out sing for an hour.

Anyone have a suggestion for a song for me to play? Looking for something irish or celtic or asian in sound, but modern in quality. Something not TOO complex either, only have four holes here.

Anyone? Also enjoy sea shanty music and so on...

This thread is pretty close to my heart now since I make my living selling music equipment and thus fuel my G.A.S. for bots and more music gear.

My rig right now is a late 90's Mesa Boogie(triple rec.) ran through a Orange ppc412 cab.
I use a ISP Decimator noise gate to get a more tight staccato sound. Guitar wise I've been playing e.r.g guitars the last 3 years, so my go to right now is my Japanese Ibanez s series 7 string(need to get some bareknuckle pick-ups for it!!!!)

So as of now I've got a rig suited for my prog metal stuff and soon I hope to get a fender deluxe or twin(maybe Roland jc-120) and either a Gibson super 400 or L5 hollowbody for my jazz rig.....if only I had an extra 6k sitting around lmao.

But anyways what kind of stuff do my fellow bot lovers play? :-? :-?

(sorry bout the long list of crap...music nerd >.<)

OK, here's a question...is there a structural difference between violins and fiddles or is it just how they were played?

I'm a guitarist...if that's what you'd like to call it. All I really do is play a bunch of rock songs from the 70's and 80's on a less-than-average level, but I enjoy it. I also used to play piano and percussion in my grade school days.
Please note: If you think I may be joking, I probably am.

That period of time- the 60's-80's was probably the most expressive time in pop/rock music. So many new sounds with the advent of the electric guitar, the leslie, the Hammond B3, the Mellotron, synthesizers, and the like...
