The Tournie bank

Motto: "Do you still believe in all the things that you stood by before?
Are you out there on the front lines or at home keeping score?"
Before I start I know the mod panels are not fully worked out. "This ends my disclaimer on this thread"

Here is my idea in the past I have made alot of energon. By competing and in turn chose to do as many players did before me by supporting various ventures and individual players whom requested it.

Fluff gone let get to where the rubber meats the road what i prupose is players donate a 10k or more amount given my opinion. READ AS MY OPINION. I sit ataround 67th with 175-176 at the moment with very little to spend it on. So to me 40k in a bank for future tournie runners is jack all.

Now CONSIDER THE 20+ 1MIL players, Tell me they can't donate half what I'm willing to put up. So my head math says 20 players x 20k= 400k + my 40k = 440k.

Still with me then I thank and pitty you here is my stunner as this bank grows at each 100k mark the staff or more appropriatly game adds 10% as a rough number or fair start point. Thus funding a major cross faction tournie.

If this is a worthy idea Psyhout TAKE MY 40K at any time as you know my avalibilty is rather random to say for a bit. If no one wants to get behind this idea I'll walk my 40k minimum to the bounty hunters and issue a death note on my own head. "BUCK WHEATS NOT BUCK WHEATS WHO KNOWS" watch things to do in denver when your dead if you need help on the last part.

good idea, i donated €100k to the bot tournament and don't have any use for it. i got another 200k sitting here for newbie requests or future "tournament fees."

it would be cool if the interest was payed in XP ;)

not really, energon for XP isn't a good idea.

I know, even at a 4:1 rating €/XP would still be overpowered, hence the wink.

it's not that it's just that NO GAME has ever managed to have a sound finacial system (i'm not even sure it's possible; i recall saying the same to OS when i joined, just look at the world economy now(, i've only twice in 5 years worried about energon, when i went pred and head to turn auto-cr off for a week, and then when we restarted.

As for the Tournie Bank, I have another idea: If and when the mods can transfer energon, a betting system would be cool.

Energon that breeds energon is less interesting to me as playing well will keep the energon stash sufficiently high.

Using energon to affect mission outcomes (concepts like turrets, defenses, improved arms) for that one mission seems more interesting.

Now, if something like that existed, a tourney bank / entry fees / betting system would be much more interesting as the won money would affect later battles.

Give me a week and a few crates of Peroni and I'll work out an economy for you. Though, if I did, it'd result in energon being quite an important feature.

Although, this has me thinking. I proposed an idea for a Mercenary account run by the staff to Psychout, the mechanics of which he seems able to do with what still works in the admin panel. Why not have an account set up that encompasses the Mercenaries, as well as a banking system for tournaments? Donations to it can be moderator-handled so it can work between factions.

Also, the original semi-sober idea:

Alcohol wrote:Also, I had an idea earlier at work (which is where I do most of my HMW-based thinking). Moderator-run (read: Psychout-run) 'mercenary' accounts. Just four HMW accounts with a team name like "Autobot Mercenary" or "Predacon Mercenary", with artificially boosted xp (say 50K at the minute), who only enter missions when they're contacted and paid a donation. Might need highly active players to run them, or a team of players for each account, but if the xp totals are artificially reset all the time then there's no point in treating it as a secound account, so no abuse

Why not make the bank passive? A percentage will be multiplied to the overall energon gained in a mission. For example, In a Con vs Bots mission, the bots win and the total energon gained was 4000. 10% will be multiplied to the total energon gained and the result will be added to the bank. The percentage will depend on the outcome of the mission, the faction that wins will get 20% of total energon added to their bank while the losing team will get only 10%. There will be no % increase if a mission only has one faction participating.

Players can still donate energon to the bank if they want to.

As the 2nd account rule is site wide and HMW cant be excluded, to do this, The 'bank' would have to be my account and id have to redistribute all the prizes out by hand.

Im happy to do that, but it would kill my chances of being able to play HMW as it would no longer by my energon that I was using, and im not that keen on that idea, at the end of the day, i'm still a player here.

If we can come up with a way of balancing it without breaking cardinal site rules and my HMW account then I'm interested.

Here's a solution. Ask 1-2 players to record the energon you have before you were turned into a bank. These players will also keep track of the energon you earned in the missions and arena. They will add the energon you earned for that day w/ the energon you had before being turned into a bank. They will subtract the energon you own w/ the total energon in your acct to determine the amount of energon that you will be able to spend.

lets say that your acct has a total of 100k of energon. 40k of which is from your hardwork, the remaining 60k is the deposited energon. This means that you can only spend until the total amount of energon in the acct is 60k.

Hmmm. Its an interesting thought, but as ill still be playing as WarPorn Industries, tracking my personal increase in energon would be nearly impossible.

Although there may be another option... The Quintessons account that was used in the days of old will still exist. I can see if OS will let me take that over. :???:

edit: still doesn't solve the 4-faction send/receive donations problem though.

Tracking his energon gain (and loss for CR time) would be a phenomenal effort - benefits do not necessarily outweigh the costs.

Using a secondary account is the optimum solution IF the cross-faction transfer can easily occur through some direct or moderator controlled function.

Like this for example? 8)

Still have plenty to sort out still, like the x-faction banking, but this is a great start.

Why not just ask if you can break the rule to make a non-fighting account because I'm sure he's gonna need the Quint one back at some point from some of the hints he had previously dropped. You could call it the first bank of cybertron.

Well, using the Quint account means that when it is used, it "gains interest" through it's battles. But until the cross-faction transfer is easily resolved creating any new accounts is futile. That's priority #1 for this subject in-my-opinion.

Thats pretty much the plan, good deduction.

Ironically, the problem is that I cant log out of WarPorn to log into and re-start the Quint team.

We're working on it.
We do have a plan B though - but it requires much more organisation.

Nope, I use IE7 at home and FF at work and cant log out of my team on either. In fact Ive just put Primal Fear and Blue Juice into missions whilst in this Quint account to test it.

The Quint team was nuked with the reset. I have their stats recorded, but as they ahve no HMW team at all, they wont show up on the searches. They show up on a board member search.

Until I can find a way around this log-in bug, I cant activate the team so all it is currently is a forum account.

But Im still able to use my team when im logged in as the Quints, which means its not logging out, doofus. :P

This actually has way too much potential for abuse, so im gonna have to take this to the real staff forum.
