The Source was beyond awful in fact it actually moved all the other Highlander films up a notch.
Actually it makes Raven look good.
Last I heard the Paul franchise is dead. They intend to reboot everything with a brand new film.
No suprise Endgame was a mircle that it got to screen and performed terribly...while I loved the film it went through several edits, rewrites and delays before they dumped it in theaters in a spot that was essentially the toilet of release dates. Raven tanked on the small tube, and then The Source was sooooooo bad no distributor would touch it...even worse when audiences finally saw it, it became apparent just how bad it was, I mean it wasn't even critic bad...it made no sense and was just horrible to watch.
So maybe reboot is the way to go here.
Yeah, I think it's pretty much past due for a reboot. Connor's dead, Duncan's won the prize and found the source, Methos is...whatever at this point, the Watchers no longer matter anymore, the story line is dead.
A reboot would be a great idea.
Endgame had potential, and you could tell they put some money and effort into it. Better special effects, brought back most of the original film's cast, and the story had promise, but the finished product was a mess. Ever see the director's cut? It actually loops a scene in the final battle, uses it twice and it's apparent to the point that anyone watching would catch it. It's almost like the disc skips and then you realize it's the film itself.
Still, I found it to be an enjoyable experience.
The Final Dimension was a rehash of the first one, and while I thought Mario Van Peebles was a lot of fun, I just found it to be too much of a ripoff. Still watchable, but a ripoff.
The Renegade Version of II is a guilty pleasure, and nonsensical, but fun nonetheless. I can't even watch The Quickening. Egad it was awful.
The original...pretty hard to top (which none of the sequels did), and outside of a reboot, the current series can't hold a candle to it.
The Raven, I watched about 5 or 6 episodes and found it to be...boring. Kinda like Angel spinning off of Buffy, minus...well everything that made Angel work. The Raven was just piss poor.
Highlander The Series had some great moments, but I've seen better shows. Eureka and Warehouse 13 come to mind. I think having an immortal of the week was an idea that petered out rather quickly. Some stories were compelling, some were funny, but for the most part...bleh.
So, yeah, it's time for a reboot. I hope the keep the core characters and put them in new surroundings and new adventures, it just wouldn't be Highlander without MacLeod and Ramirez. I wouldn't mind seeing an updated Kurgan.chuckdawg1999 wrote:Ralph Fines is set to play Connor. I think he could do a good job.
This is the second time you've mentioned this. I've not been able to find anything on this. Where are you getting this news??
Oh man where did I read this, it was awhile ago I think People or cinescape.com. I might have the name wrong, might be his brother Joseph.
I could see Joseph doing it. Ralph is just a tad too old to pull it off.
It is Joseph. On the official Highlander fan page they were asking who the fans wanted to play Ramirez. I hope they go back to Gregory Widens original story because there are some elements that could carry over well.
