I'll be damned. I never noticed this. I jut tried it on my Thundercracker, and it allowed me to notice that he's got a number of stress marks.

I just found out today that the ROTF Leader Class Optimus Prime mold has a tiny button on the back of the truck cab that triggers diesel engine sounds.

Just bumping this after making a new (to me) discovery.

Anybody owning the RotF Blazemaster mold or any of its repaints (Evac or Tailwhip), listen up. I dug him up just now, and noticed that you can lock the torso in place. The shoulder blades have tabs that go into the notches on the top of his spine. It takes some doing, but the result is a sturdier torso.

And new-found appreciation for the toy. :x

Also, you know how PCC Grimstone's combiner head sometimes seems to have that gap where the nose should be? The dino head is up too far then, if you pull it down to where it touches the eyes (the gold part sticking out is the nose guard), it will not only lock in place , but look better as well.

Finally, the mystery of BH Skystalker's wings has been solved; they actually have a pressure-based launching mechanism. The trigger is kind of odd, instead of pushing forward, you need to press forward and up to get the discs to fly a good distance. The hinge is there, but it may take some force to actually make it move the first time.

Weapon: Rapid-Fire Disintegration Laser
I got the original Tarantulas off the Internet without instructions or anything, as he was impossible to find in stores, as he sold out almost instantly. The joints and everything was in great condition, and I put him on display with the rest of my 30+ Beast Wars figures. Since I was in college, and there was a major death in my family at that time, I didn't have a lot of time to handle them or anything, but they made a fine collection on my shelves. Since he always used the "Grappling Hook Missile" and his spider legs were mostly used for machine guns in the first season, and I didn't have his instructions, I didn't find out the legs could be removed as missiles until I graduated. This was due to my friend getting me the Black Arachnia figure as a gift, and the instructions showed the spider legs could come off, and be used as missiles. Since I knew she was a retool of him, Tarantulas became even more impressive in my eyes. Still have that figure to this day, and love it.

RiD Omega Prime not only has a coherent combined altmode, but all of his kibble excepting the fire truck ladder can be integrated into his robot mode - and the ladder can then turn into a giant axe as tall as he is.

(Of course, the axe only really looks good from one side, but it works for shelf posing.)

While mine is in storage at the moment, here's a shot of his altmode from earlier in this thread:

And here he is sharing a shelf with G2 Megs, holding the somewhat primitive 'axe' mode of his ladder kibble:

Here's a new one: Take any Fort Max mold, transform it into spaceship/battlestation mode, flip it upside down and use the central tower as a pistol grip, and it shouldn't be too hard to fiddle with the legs to make a giant handgun mode vaguely similar to Sixshot's.

Bonus points to whoever posts the first pic of themselves dual-wielding Maxes. :)

Omega Prime is awesome. One of the best Transformers ever. A great combiner because each individual is brilliant on its own, and they work perfectly together.
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

Whole-heartedly disagree, Optimus himself has one of the most unstable super modes in his own right, Magnus is a disproportionate mess that can't even hold his own weapon up, and the combined form is so top heavy that posing him any way other than strait up is a death sentence.

Disagreeing with you on the weapon: you have to plug either or both bars of the weapon into the sides of his chest, the ones in those blue swiveling blocks.

I'm well aware of how he's supposed to hold the weapon... it just doesn't work for more than a minute at a time before it falls out, and even so it's stupidly designed to work around a gimmick that also doesn't work for the same reason. You have to hold the two pieces together to hold the button down to even get the right sound out of it, and once you let go it doesn't work, then a minute or so later the gun falls out and dangles from his wrist.

okay, yeah, I'll admit Magnus weapon is a bit poo. I straighten it out a bit and have him hold it like a big giant rifle.

As I was packing up HftD Terradive and Spacecase, and fishing out Smokejumper because reasons, I noticed that there some pretty cool similarities! The flip of front cockpit, the way the arms fold into the rear thrusters, the folding in half.

I thought it was pretty cool, in any case.

The designers must have loved that transformation scheme, as it's shared by Energon Starscream (again, not a retool) and, to a lesser extent, G1 Snipe aka G2 Afterburner. :)

It's quite a fun way of getting the jet into a robot! The Terradive mold really got it good though (even though Smokejumper is my favourite).
