Isn't that in the instructions? Easy to overlook though. Hell, I overlooked that Optimus's gun could seperate, I was all "two handles? okay..."

So it took me until just today, and I made an account just to post this, but AoE Deluxe Lockdown actually has molding inside the taillight sections on his shoulders that are supposed to be the missile pods from the movie CGI.

I like that Hasbro Generations Legends Cliffjumper if you put him in car mode and fold his arms out a little hangs on really nicely as a Combiner Wars Optimus chest plate and the colour looks good too.

You can do that with Huffer too, though the colors don't go quite as well, but if you happened to have the Optimus version of that mold, I bet it would look really nice. And be kinda weird. Yo dawg I heard you like Optimus Prime so here's an Optimus Prime with an Optimus Prime on his chest. PRIMECETPTION.

You do need to be careful with this stuff, though. I was watching a video of someone who busted the hand of his Starscream trying to use him as a chestplate.

A few slight changes and CW Mirage can look a lot more like his old G1 robot mode. I have a (bad) pic but it's not handy right now. I'll post it when I get a chance.

Also, CW Sunstreaker has an alternate way to put his hand/foot/blaster/engine thing on his robot back besides sticking the post in the hole. Instead flip the thing around and slide the clips over part of the hood piece. I think it looks nicer as the fingers are better hidden.

Rook not only has ankle pivots, but can actually have Groove perched on his arm.

I've had Rook for over a month and never noticed his ankle pivot.

CW Mirage in a more G1 style. Unfortunately, you have to do some parts swapping to get things right.

I swapped his arms at the pivot joint, but I suppose they could also be swapped at the ball joint. Either way be careful, these joints (at least on mine) are very securely on and require intense force to get them off and on. In theory you could knock out the pins on his hands and swap them but then his arms would look hollow on the outside, and thus not as nice overall, but as a benefit that way wouldn't affect transformation.

He can still perfectly form an arm the way I did it, and can form a leg still, albeit not quite the proper transformation as the arms won't collapse all the way into his sides. Car mode is completely out though. :(

You also don't want to pin the front of the car into the peg like you normally would, or it would sit too high in front of his face.

Here's Sunstreaker with his part clipped on instead of pegged on. I think it looks better this way, but it will be on a slightly more angular direction due to the way the thumb part hits certain back kibble.

And as a bonus, here's Megatron as a tankgun.

Seibertron posted an image of his modified Mirage. Ask him how he swapped the hands around.

Or, if you flip the fingers up, they cover the gap in the backpack that would otherwise be left by this.

And those clips seem to have no other use, either.

In CW Defensor Torso mode you can store the guns from Hotspot in one of the triangle slots in the ladder if you pick the ones closer to the body they stick up behind his back Bruticus like and look rather good and you can shake the toy and they don't fall out.

I know there's been some Ammonite love here already, but here's a couple more combined modes next to Centurion. I casually refer to the short one as Decurion and the tall one as Praetorion, which is intentionally misspelled to fit the "-ion" scheme. Their arch nemeses are Superion and Victorion for obvious reasons.

I'm tempted to pick up more of these guys, especially if they go on sale. I'd like to have a few uncombined modes mixed into the display as well as attempt the large combined mode that uses about 3 sets worth of pieces.

You can get a much more unified looking Defensor if you swap out Streetwise and Blades for Prowl and Alpha Bravo (I knew the little turd had a good use out there!) You might think, isn't Streetwise already white? And yeah, but he's more off white, whereas Prowl is a purer white better matching Rook, First Aid, and even Groove.

I'm not saying it's better with the other guys, just it's a somewhat neat little thing you can do if you want.

Re: Things your Transformers can do that you never realised

I have a couple of Dark of the Moon Ark Playsets - I've always wondered if anyone had enough of them to make a circle out of them and if so how many and what does it look like.

Similarly I've been meaning to try the same thing with the Cyberverse Bumblebee Bunker toy but again I only have a couple so I can't make a little fort out of them yet.

Another thing I want to try is combining a driller with either version of the Bumblebee or Breakdown armour. or even having enough drillers to make a spiked circle of them when they are in weaponised mode and all linked together.

Has anyone else been able to do any of those things ?

The G1 instructions for Perceptor are, for the lack of a better word, wrong ... or just lacking.

From some reason, it gives him a third mode of a mobile laboratory which to me looks more like a cannon platform:

Image

And while you can do that, that isnt what this toy was meant to have as a third mode. You are supposed to bring that cannon part to the same level of the legs to fill out the base of a vehicle. If you have the legs and arms all paralel to eachother, there is a back wheel that will touch the floor and actually make your vehicle (which now looks like a decent tank) roll very well.

I dont know why the tank mode was not well represented in the instructions, it works really well and shows you what this toy was supposed to be when i twas first released in the microchange line (in black):

I'll bet the reason was because we didn't get Microman to pal around with Transformers, similar to how we didn't get Diaclone pilots. So they jury rigged it up and threw it in. They could have just as easily not mentioned it at all.

In a similar vein, why didn't we get this little guy that was included with Magnus's Diaclone incarnation, Powered Convoy?

Image

Cost is about the only reason I can figure, as there's more functionality than Prime's Roller.

Prime RID Dead End has tabs on the sections of his legs that make up the green/black section of his car hood that peg them into the center piece of his legs. He's way more stable than he was before. Even then it wasn't bad because the rotating parts caught on the wheels so they wouldn't move much, but this is still nice to know.

Got the mold as Wheeljack 3 and a half years ago, found out about this 5 minutes ago. Oops.

Well that certainly helps explain where High Moon Studios pulled the tank form from for Perceptor in FoC
