Thoughts on a WFC sequel?

Well, the majority of us love War for Cybertron! :D But my question for everyone is, "if High Moon decides to create a sequel to it, what do you think it would/should be like?"

Personally, I think it would be cool to re-live the first three episodes of G1, "More Than Meets the Eye parts 1, 2, and 3", in WFC's new updated, more realistic, modern tone, and gameplay style. :)

What do you guys think?

That sounds good to me. I really am enjoying the 360 version of the game right now, and while Cybertron looks outstanding, it made me think about how awesome an earth-based TF game would be with these graphics and mechanics.

I was thinking something similar. I just don't know what they'd do for Megatron's Earth form. I know some fans would want him to become the gun, But I think that would cause trouble for Hasbro if they made him into a toy. So I was thinking either his G2 tank form or some kind of mobile cannon would be cool. Or they can go the Live action way and just leave him in his cybertron form.

The first one just came out and you're already thinking about a sequel?! Just messin' with ya, but, seriously, let's enjoy this one at the moment.

Nevertheless, I would like to see something involving either Unicron and/or The Fallen.

I'd like to see more pre-Earth stuff before they make that jump, if nothing else because they'd have to really rework the alt-mode mechanic greatly, given that Earth cars, trucks, and tanks can't move sidewise, and F-15s can't hover.

We've had a plot based around Optimus and Megatron, I think it would be nice for a sequel to revolve around other popular characters (though still feature the other two in gameplay). I figure, with so many Autobots fleeing to alien planets, and with a very animalistic Trypticon already having appeared, it wouldn't be unreasonable to feature the Dinobots returning to Cybertron with vaguely-dinosaurish alien alternate modes, maybe pursuing a high-rank Decepticon that's returning to Cybertron to report back to Megatron (e.g. Scorponok, Shockwave, or the G1 Predacons).

Ahhh but they may look like earth mode vehicles but they are still cybertronian tech. Many of the differing universes show that a transformer is not limited by their earth modes.
Some examples-
F22 Raptor's and F15's can not fly off into and through space (movie universe Starscream, G1 universe Seekers)
Car's can not survive driving at high speeds into cliff faces (G1 universe Stunticons)
A10's and SR-71's can not turn at 90 degree angles and perform other agile stunts (GI Joe vs Transformers universe Seekers)
Vans don't have jet/rocket/whateveryouwannacallit? propulsion (IDW universe Ratchet)
Corvette Stingrays don't have flight capabilities (G1 Tracks)

On subject though I do agree it's way to early in the war for earth to come into it. Maybe adaptions of the War Within stories would be good for a sequel?

Yeah I don't want to see an Earth setting in the sequel either (and I'm fairly sure there will be one, this game is simply a great product).

Part of the awesomeness in the opening cinematic alone is seeing this different world of Cybertron, instead of Transformers running around on Earth. Cybertron ftw.

Sounds good, but my pessimistic side is saying that they could send the whole thing into a horribly brutal burning inferno...called shelfwarming.

Meh, worth a shot though...but I demand Insecticons...and boatformers, and more of the DeceptiDaddy Soundwave.

I want Sea Spray!!!

I really hope they (the creators of this game) do get to do the sequel if there is one. I'm worried that this might have been a one off like N64's Goldeneye and the license may get passed to another developer who will most likely not research the source material or have the amount of passion that has gone into this game. The team behind this game are real fans who did their research (unlike writers at IDW who don't even read their own comics) and it shows.

HAHA true.
I agree it would be a nice idea, the whole "More than meets the eye" thing but this game has been out for five days, lets absorb this one first.

I think this is more set up for mission packs. Add ten more missions and 12 or more new character models and develop the story a bit more. All the civilian autobots have been sent across the galaxy, now the real fun can begin as both sides pull out all the stops.

I agree. Not really up for a sequel yet, I simply want MORE to this game. I hope if they do a sequel it can tell more of the story of Cybertron, perhaps an offshoot of this story featuring other characters.

I think the Earth story has been done to death. According to the book, Cybertronians went to some other planets, let's see those.

Totally. Almost Eevry TF game weve had has pretty much done on earth. And maybe they would do more sequals that would take us up all the way to the first Episode of the 1984 series. Ya know Kinda like what Star Wars did by going back before the first movie and explaining what happened before.

Except most of them were utter garbage. :P

I think it would be nice to see the story move to Earth, if it's done well. A real G1 game would be great, if they think they can find an audience for that. I'm not *too* worried about Megatron's altmode, first of all because we don't know if Hasbro would actually want to release an accompanying toyline, second of all because they're not above releasing a toy that's unrelated to the actual character as he appears in the game. XD

Otherwise, it would be nice to see where some of the other Transformer vessels went, but I don't think any game publisher will want to release a TF game that doesn't feature Optimus Prime and Megatron promimently.

Since it's War for Cybertron, I say keep in on Cybertron to avoid any constraints with G1 on Earth.

I'd go some into the Mythology, such as the original 13 TF's and the Fallen (basically having the final boss fight where Prime and Megatron team up against the Fallen at some important place on Cybertron, and learn more about Optimus Primes origin's in this story.)

Could they do a G1 game? Eventually, but right now, I want to learn more about the War and Cybertron itself. There are many stories that can be told before the departure of the Ark and Nemesis.

If they decide to make another giant boss fight, then we shoul deffinately fight the constructicons. And when we beat them bad enough, then they transform into Devistator. I'd love to see a cybertronian him.

I understand the inclination to bring the Transformers to Earth but I just love this Cybertron setting so much, I'd rather High Moon keep a sequel focused there.

I would love to see Combiners as well. I don't know how the game mechanics would work but it would be great to play as Motormaster then call your team to combine.

Similar to a level found in Metal Gear Solid 4, play as the even bigger characters like Trypticon or perhaps Fortress Maximus to just wreck stuff. As much as I love a good story, smashing stuff is just as fun :)

Re: Thoughts on a WFC sequel?

They can never top the easy controls of the game, so any future game is going to have cars that can circle strafe. In fact if you watch the G4 TV website show "Feedback" the guys there pretty much said any future Transfomers game needs to blatantly copy the control scheme used in WFC. Which is just Gears of War controls anyways. If it is not broke, don't fix it.

However, that doesn't mean that the car can't just turn and drive sidways across your screen while you shoot using a small turret that pops out of the roof. Obviously with a tank you already have a turret.

Or you can say anytime you see a car shooting guns, by that point your cover is pretty well blown and you can get away with tires that turn 90 degrees in the wheel wells. Same with jets that hover when the real thing can't. You do this when concealment as a normal Earth machine isn't important.

If you wanted to really get into this, then an Earth setting will need some sort of "stealth" like aspect to it where you have missions where you need to keep a low profile and not blow your cover by sidestrafing as a car/truck, transforming, or hovering as a F-15 jet. I can see playing as a jet and in the single player "stealth" mission where you can never stop. You have to hold down the throttle the whole mission, which could get interesting.

P.S. I demand that Jetfire's 1984 Earth alt mode be the F-14 Grumman Tomcat used by the US Navy. The "Classics" line toy is already styled to look a bit like the F-14 when seen without the booster pack on, even if it has a goofy looking nose cone that isn't even a cone. Just re-design that classic toy with a round nosecone and your got it. After all, the Macross VF-1S originally used as the toy for Jetfire was a close ringer for the F-14, so go beyond it and actually use the F-14. You can get back to the orignal look without using the Macross design. Also, lets face it. The F-14 is a popular plane and fits into a game set in 1984 just fine.

Could be cool if they got the "Danger Zone" song for the game soundtrack on the mission you first see Jetfire.

I would like to see them stay away from Earth for as long as possible. Keeping with the dual campain style I'd go like this:

Follow the main camp of Autobots, Liberating and prepairing for the Ark's departure

continue to feature 3 man squad stages

Chapter1) Ratchet takes Prowl(scout) and Bluestreak(Scout)back to Praxus and the methane gardens to look for survivors and end up finding an insecticon swarm

stage2) has Trailbreaker(soldier) Bumblebee and Wheeljack (Leader) trying to out manuever Acidrain after raiding his power core.

Stage 3) Hound (soldier) helps Sideswipe liberate Sunstreaker(Scout)from a work camp under the watch of the Constructicons (big boy fight)

Stage 4) Jazz, Mirage(scout) and Cliffjumper(Scout) get the defences of Iacon up and running to allow the Ark to Launch while fending off the advances of Soundwave his minions and the Reflectors

Stage5) Powerglide, Jetfire and Tracks (scientists) help provide cover for the Ark when it launches as it heads for the jump gate on the far side of the asteroid incident(mostly vehicle mode stage) against Nemesis

Stage 6) The Nemesis has attached itself to the Ark troops flood the corridors, fighting around every corner Optimus leads Windcharger(scout) and Brawn (soldier) while Ironhide, Huffer and Gears work to get the ship on track (defend) while facing off for the first time in game against Megatron

Jetfire links himself into the navigation array to get the Ark back on track when they pass into the jumpgate and the ark himself and the Nemesis split up and crash on different corners of earth :end first half

Begin D'con story:

Shockwave witnesses the apparent destruction of "The Mighty Megatron" and assumes control as he had ordered.
after eons of sporatic figting events began to culminate in the return of Megatron

1)Shockwave dispaches Motormaster(leader) to crush a group of Autobots that have been raiding his energon storerooms in Bolthex. He takes Breakdown and Deadend(scout) they discover the culprits are of the Valkyr class as well as these girls are no pushovers when Alita-1 is in command the battle end with the capture of the one by the designation Strikka

2)in the chaos caused by the power outages rolling across the planet Megatron's minddrone has gone missing and in it's wake a mass of mindless Decepticons and Autobots mindlessly attacking eachother wildly without cause, it must be controlled or destroyed. Ratbat believes he can dminate the machine as he has the Valkyr he was deivered. Sideways(scout) Strikka (soldier) and Barricade are given the task of first weakening the minddrone then allowing Ratbat the necessary time to dominate it. (defend) Displeased with their evident failure and overstepping his Authority Shockwave orders the three back to the Smelting pits, when a communication comes in from beyond the gate, but it is too weak for their systems to decode...

3) Onslaught Brawl and Swindel(scout) are sent to break the defences the Autobot faction calling themselves the Wreckers have erected around the Comn relays near the Sonic Canyons, There they encounter the Brutes Twintwist and Tailspin with the titan Impactor protecting Blaster. The message was from Megatron with instructions as well as preparations for the future

4) With the Destruction of the jumpgate by the backlash of the battle within it Shockwave begins working on a more localized trasport but needs parts recovered from the gate and sends the remaining seekers Ramjet (ram), Dirge (warcry) and Thrust (hover)to complete this Task, amongst the orbital debris they encounter Silverbolt's Squadron of Arialbots and a rick they learned from spying on the Constructicons (Big boy) (mostly vehicle)

5) The constructicons have completed their Space Bridge for Shockwave but are unwilling to test it themselves. A splinter group of Decepticons that poplpulate a slum of Darkmount known as the Insecticons intercept a transmission that a Decepticon known ad Sunstorm has prefected a transmat generator and has made himself an infinite energy source, however it has driven him mad, they figure that if they consume his knowledge they can control it. Bombshell (soldier) Kickback (scout) and Shrapnel(leader) set out to breach the control center past Autobot invaders and Decepticon security to face Sunstorm
in their victory the Insecticons discover the Constructicon Trap as they are stasis locked and beamed to Earth, Hook complains about some more fine tuning but it will suffice.

As Decepticons from each faction cross the bridge to Earth and Megatron sends more and more refined and raw resources The Autobots see a need to aide their leader on Earth and mount an assault on Darkmount with their combined forces as well as some help from beyond... Shockwave Demolishor and Slipstream are tasked with a full blown invasion one that is topped off with the return of Omega Supreme, not to be out done in the final half of the stage takes place in the shadow of the collossal Omega Supreme and Devastators battle with Runamuck and Runabout you fend off The leaders that pooled all these troops to rise against you, Magnus and his spectral advisor Alpha Trion (think Zeta holobrutes). Once you push back Magnus injured the battle ends with the bridge collapsing in on itself with Devastator and Omega Supreme still locked in battle, again Cybertron goes dark as the Decepticons that remain gather another flicker of energy sparks , something is coming thru, as it materializes row after row of Decepticons kneel, Pans around a kneeling Shockwave and reveals The Fallen who's only words are "There is much work to do..."
fade to
"indeed" Alpha Trion says as he steps back as Ultra Magnus rises into the light barely visible is Arcee and other Autobot siloettes are seen massing around him

end autobot campain: cue credits tally Achievements and Trophies

If it gets to the point of a TF the movie I want a version of Esc. on an Autobot Frigate, you have your choice of Brawn, Ironhide, Ratchet and Prowl vs waves of computer controlled Costructicons, insecticons, seekers and finallyy Soundwave and Megatron no drones all player/boss worthy make it to the 10th final round unlock "such heroic nonsence..." other side is inside Astrotrain same character waves without Bombshell, Shrapnel, Kickback, Thundercracker, Skywarp and Megatron cause that's your character selection "wait, I still function..."

Wow, all of this right here seems like a great idea. Excellent work my friend. :)

Weapon: Dual Bladed Sword
I think there should actually be custom made transformers for multiplayer. No chassis, but atleaste be able to switch up body parts. And then the game can generate what the vehicle form can llok like. That or you can customize the vehicles looks based on the body parts you chose.
