The Play Arts Kai line is the only one that can do this right.

Bandai could do justice to the Thundercats designs, new or old, but not at the price point that most American toy buyers that the show is targeted at are going to be used to. A modified S.H. Figuarts styled approach could be used for the 6" Thundercats line and a S.I.C. Kiwami Tamashii styled approach could be used for the 3.75" Thundercats line. However, the average price of SHF figures is just over $30 USD and the average price of S.I.C. KT figures are about $14 USD. Both prices don't include shipping fees.

The main problems with using the Play Arts Kai line is that the figures are quite expensive to with an average price of over $50 USD without shipping fees.

I think that the most plausible alternative to Bandai would be Mattel if they hired the Four Horsemen to handle the figure sculpts and design. Implement a range of figure types similar to how the WWE action figures are divided(Basic for $10-$12 but less articulation and Elite for $18-$20 but superior articulation) so that a variety of toy buyers could afford to buy the toys.

Well, Play Arts Kai doesn't aim towards kids. A super detailed line on the Play Arts Kai level would be aimed towards collectors since the figures would average $40 a piece.

Bandai's designs don't really impress me much. They always seem like they could do better.

I'm not sure who Four Horsemen are.

Exactly...Thundercats isn't aimed largely at collectors. It's a brand mainly aimed at North American kids. It's not likely that WB thinks that a line of $40 price point figures would sell well in the NA market. That's why the Thundercats Classics figures are priced at about $20. The Masters of the Universe Classics figures are the closest thing I can think of that WB would consider emulating for a collector oriented toy line.

I'm curious about which Bandai designs you're not impressed much with. Bandai produces such a wide variety of toy products, some of which are certainly mediocre such as some of their Super Sentai toys. However, to be honest, I can't think of any strong rivals to Bandai's cream of the crop toy lines such as Soul of Chogokin, S.H. Figuarts, S.I.C., and S.I.C. Kiwami Tamashii.

They're a group of toy sculptors and designers who first hit it big working for McFarlane Toys and then went independent. They have sculpted many of the DCU and DCC figures, and are probably most well known for their work on the Masters of the Universe Classics figures.

Well, for bandai designs, I haven't been impressed with a lot of their mass retail stuff. Power Rangers use to have so much more detail than what they now have. Heck, I remember when the average megazord was $40 and now they sit at the $25 price range.

I completely forgot that Sould of Chogokin was done by Bandai. My bad there.

However, for me, the only real thing that's any good now from them are their Gunpla kits.

Alright, so this line finally showed up at a local store for me(TRU is a good half day's trip), so I gave it another try. This time, I got Wilykit. The paint is better, and the board is pretty cool. She's only got three joints, but I wasn't expecting much more for her size. The magnet gimmick continues to be an issue. As I said about Cheetara, the magnet on her prevents head movement. Wilykit's magnet is poorly placed for different reasons. It's in her butt. I don't know why the magnets need to be so big, or why the obviously young children need to interact with the tank or the motorcycles.

Walmart by me has these. The Classics look pretty nice, almost got Lion-O, but I put him back. I'm gonna regret it , I know. They also had the play sword, but no claw shield (looks pimp).

What's the price for the Classics figs at Wal Mart? BBTS should have them any day now and their price is about $34 plus ship for Tygra and Lion o together or 17 a piece, Which seems pretty good. TRU has them listed for 19.99 a piece. If I don't see them soon I may go with BBTS.

I'm pretty interested in purchasing a few. The Classics are definitely what i want the most and i hope they do follow through with the rest. I would think if Tygra and Lion-O don't sell well (or the entire line for that matter) it could seriously hamper any other releases such as a Cheetara or a Panthro. I'm sure they have them designed though. I've yet to see any figs yet anywhere though as of yet.

As for the current figs. To be honest, the only figure i'm interested in is Mumm-Ra in his withered up mummy form. I've got the original so i'll switch up the Sword of Plun-Darr holster he comes with and give him the staff that he should have had from my original.

For some reason the 4 and 6 inch figures just don't do it for me. They just seem a little off to me. I don't know.......maybe i'll warm up to them but from the reviews i've seen on youtube the poseability is a bit of an issue and the magnet gimmick isn't my cup of tea either. The line does have a tonne of potential though and i'll be watching it pretty closely.
