Take care of yourselves. Many of us are praying for you. Those affected who frequent these boards, let us know you are alright as soon as you can.

(Hopefully I did not overstep my bounds)

Not at all did you overstep your bounds.
I am all too familiar with the destruction that hurricanes bring (Katrina, Rita, Issac, etc..) and I pray that everyone is safe and sound with minimal damage to their homes.

*edit*

Watching the news this morn the New Jersey shore looks like Biloxi did after Katrina...
Scary.

I've heard from most of my family in NYC, and they're alive. My aunt though is stuck on the 18th floor of her apartment in the city with no electricity, which means no running water. I think one of my cousins is supposed to pick her up today, though.

Thank goodness they are all alright.

Yeah, as a Floridian who's been through a ton of hurricanes, I wasn't too worried at first, but the pictures of the damage out there is incredible. It's almost hard to believe.

Luckily the only thing I lost was power for little over a day -- house didn't flood, trees didn't fall onto us, no injuries or damage. Still had running (if cold) water and a gas stove (though, obviously, had to use a match to light it), and the rest of town had power, so it wasn't so bad.

Hope everyone else is safe.

I'm outside of NYC, but I didn't have power for 34 hours or so. Luckily no major damage. Fewer tree's broke this year than in last years freak snow storm. Would have been hell had we gotten the rain. Thankfully we just got the wind. Ground was wet enough from the last few weeks of rain though that we had large trees topple right over all over the county. Neighbors house got clipped by a giant pine that uprooted itself. Thankfully they were only clipped so the damage wasn't severe.

Some of my relatives in NYC have no power but are, thankfully, alright. Grandparents in one of the boroughs made it through fine and dandy, but phone service is shoddy and it's hard to get in contact with them. Line's tend to die after 3 or 4 minutes. We've had zero contact with my other grandparents, but my uncle went out there today and found they were ok, thank god. All communications are dead where they are on Long Island.

One of my other uncles out on Long Island didn't fare so well. He got 4 feet of water in his house. At least everyone is OK.

Haven't had work all week since I work in a section on Manhattan that's blacked out. Our wonderful substation blew up Monday night.

Hope everyone who has family in affected area's hears from them soon, if they haven't already.

I know the feeling of being through a ton of canes...
The pictures remind me so much of the aftermath of Katrina...
Hell some of the images remind me of some areas after the recent Issac.

Erailea I am glad to hear that you and your family is well.

I used to live in central NY and all of my old friends were freaking out. They're not even close to the ocean or even the water NYC was in. All they got was heavy rain and light wind. But I hope that the people that did go through the hurricane are all right and and make it through this with as little problems as possible.
