The Planet Iacon Facebook group has collected and shared images of the Transformers figures that are currently on display at the Tokyo Toy Show. The figures include the previously reported full color MP-22 Ultra Magnus, but also include Transformers/Neon Genesis Evangelion MP-10 Eva Optimus Prime, Movie Advanced AD-20 Black Knight Grimlock, and last but certainly not least Transformers Cloud Rodimus and Shockwave! As previously speculated Rodimus is reuse of the Generations Voyager Springer mold and Shockwave is a reuse of the Generations Voyager Whirl mold. Check out the images mirrored below:

I'll just say it, they look really good. Just not for the astronomical prices the line is going for. I'd love to see them in the west though

I can't see how the Takara primal and raptrap is different.

EVA Prime - So much want, but then again I don't own any of the MP-10 mold yet, so if I was gonna get one, I'd still prefer normal colours. Still awesome, that NERV trailer is made of win.

Beast Convoy and Rattle - I'll be getting Hasbro's Rattrap, but I've missed out on every release of the more show-accurate Ultra Class Primal remold so far, I don't think I intend to miss this one... depending on the price, that is...

MP Magnus - Continues to disappoint me at every turn, I do not like the look of those big red blocks that make up the inside of his legs, I don't care how toy-accurate it may be. If they wanted toy accuracy, they shoulda just given us a white MP-10 in transforming trailer armor.

Shockwave - While the concept of a purple Whirl with translucent claw-hands and weapons is enticing, I can't see myself shelling out for it, it's just too... Whirl. It strikes me as a mold I'll only need one of (when local stores start carrying them, anyway)

Rodimus - Dat Rodimus, tho... if I can get a decent price on one, sold. I don't care that it's a straight up repaint of Springer, that thing looks like sex on wheels.

Aside from EVA Prime, which I find f*ck ugly and unneeded, everything else is just meh. >:oP

We will soon enough don't worry. It'll probably be at Botcon.

Shockwave? Really?

We have other Decepticon helicopters to choose from -- Spinister, Battletrap, Blackout, even Vortex/Ro-Tor if you don't mind reusing him already -- but instead they focused on the cyclops head and made Shockwave into a helicopter?

There's no point in re-using a mold if nobody's gonna want to buy it, guys.

I'd buy it.

Not at the price Cloud figures go for here in the US, of course...

Japan never got the mold domestically, that probably played a part in using it for Cloud. Coincidentally, Movie Shockwave was originally a helicopter of similar make:

I'm not crazy about Shockwave's colors - at first I was thinking it was Arcee, being really bright.

Rattrap I'm thinking might just be the Hasbro one on display as a placeholder, but Primal's different in that it has the original toy's black fur and white thighs/upper arms, but the Beast Wars Reborn toy's show-accurate retooled headsculpt and robot chest piece.

Exactly - Primal has the show-accurate head. No beast mask! Will definitely pick him up, at least.

The randomness of Takara never fails to amaze me, seeing as Shockwave was part of the Cloud line they could have chose any past figure they wanted and they choose whirl! Would it have killed them to use Energon Shockblast as the base for this figure?

And deprive them of the chance to release the Whirl mold?

They could, you know, just release Whirl as Whirl too. ;) Yes, I know Whirl was not originally released in Japan for G1, but I don't see why that would have to be the case now. Along those lines, though, how likely is it that Takara will release the upcoming voyager Roadbuster as a completlye different character for Cloud and eschew his normal release as his originally intended identity? Furthermore, who could Roadbuster be plausibly repainted into?

If they keep up this trend, it could make for a fun guessing game.

Looking at the Roadbuster mold, all I can think of is Earth-mode Soundwave or Ironhide.

Legally, they may actually not, believe it or not. While Bandai US may not have had a problem with Whirl's release in US, Bandai Japan may have one. It all depends on the original release of Ovelon Gazette in Armored Trooper Dorvack and how similar Gen. Whirl would be. Hasbro may be the bigger company in the US, but in Japan odds are against TakaraTomy.
Besides, we knew they were going to use Whirl for Cloud Shockwave well in advance, thanks to Cloud Chapter #12's image revealing him:

I think Shockwave looks pretty cool, but if it doesn't have a remolded head and laser arm, it's not really Shockwave, it's purple Whirl.
