This is specifically for a 30th aniversary special MP release right? So I'm guessing that's why it's between all the famous Autobot commanders. Won't be tied to or restrictive of the general MP line I'm guessing.
V2 Megs is too long coming, I agree.

There is a card next to Springer saying something about 'sample' so I'm guessing as someone else said this is just the hasbro one for show purposes. Peeps hoping for shiny and different deco could still be pleased it seems :D

Plus! Tigertrack also has Red Alert's chest instead of Swipe's! It has those round doo-hickey thingies on it. This excites me more than it should but who cares

A poll on one of the next MP figures?

There's only three from this list I'd be willing to see: Generation One Fortress Maximus, Victory Star Saber, and Armada Optimus Prime. Fortress Maximus because I'm curious to see how he would be done (plot twist: he's based on his regular Transformer-sized IDW design! ), Star Saber because Victory is my favorite of the Japanese Generation One continuity, and Armada Optimus because he was from the series that first got me into Transformers. :x

I would get me a MP Fort Max in a heartbeat. Whatever size it ends up being would scale with my Classics. Of course, if it were diecast, I'd have to get heavy duty shelving.

Scamper comes with both Hasbro and TakaraTomy, it's the second gun that seals the deal for most.

TAKARA LISTEN UP. Keep the Masterpieces realistic. Since it seems yall want to avoid those toy licensing issues. Then go with the beastformers. I would buy a mp-big convoy the elephant mammoth one or a beast wars t-rex Megatron or that beast wars dragon Megatron. I DO NOT WANT A MP CONCEPT VEHICLE OR ANYTHING CYBERTRON LOOKING. Oh, I wouldn't mind a Optimus primal. Just make the beastformers as lifelike as possible with maybe a splash of color.

I understand that they normally dont announce a new masterpiece until the currently planned ones are released but i would've loved to see a tease about a brand new mold. A new scale megatron perhaps? what about those those rumors about Mirage or Jazz Getting a masterpiece release. Isn't that what these conferences are all about? getting people hyped for the next big thing.

Sadly the MP line isn't being made soley for you :-( Guess you may end up with a few dissapointments >:oP
Masterpiece is about characters, not strictly alt modes. Sure, I like how the current line of cars are actually being licensed so as to be accurate, but it's ridiculous to suggest major TF characters can't get a masterpiece because they don't have 'real' alt modes. If you haven't already try the Binaltech/ Alternators line. Y'know, the line that made Grimlock a car.

No, no non realistic masterpieces transformers is allowed. All us collectors like me have is the movieverse line and the masterpiece line.

I like the Zoids remote control, but not so much the TransFormer one. We've seen it done before and they aren't worth it.

G2 MP Sideswipe? Are they not going to stop? What's next, Movie Deco MP Sideswipe?

It's more than likely an unpainted test shot.

More likely, yes. I just wondered since the rest of him is already black, as in the right colour. Don't mind me, I just have a Diaclone obsession ;)
Probably a black plastic sprue.

Hasbro's Springer doesn't have green feet. And has two shades of gray plastic, whereas this one here only has one.

The colors are also more muted overall than Hasbro's colors. ;)

At least it's not just a straight redeco since it's gonna have a whole bunch of Marvel G2 stuff given to it.

From what I'm being told by people that are at the show, G2 Sideswipe has a very G2 looking open mouth. I'm trying to figure out if he has another gun strapped to his back as well.

What do you mean by open mouth? & I hope so. This got me very excited for what's next in the Masterpiece line.

I can't find the picture I'm thinking of, but most open mouths in G2 comics had a rough and garrish look to them. Pretty cool now that it's in a toy.

In theory, I'm with Eagleblaster.

The Masterpiece line was conceived as G1 TFs with modern engineering, superb vehicular/alt mode accuracy, and faithfulness to the cartoon robot mode. It's the triple threat.

Seeing the possibility of non-G1 Masterpieces is somewhat of a shock, and a disappointment. I really wish they would work to assemble, at the very least, the original 1984 lineup before they move on to other MP concepts. We see how quickly the new MPs have been selling. There's clearly momentous demand for all this. Plus, you know we'll be seeing 3rd Party competition - QuakeWave is just the beginning.

I fear that if they don't keep this line focused, they may stretch it to thin, lose our interest, and then not complete anything of significance.

Feel free to disagree, but I feel like: Ugh.

MP ARMADA OPTIMUS?!?!?! Take my money now!!! NOW!!! Sold sold sold!

Seriously, that's awesome. If he could be as articulated in his normal form as the deluxe version was, that'd be amazing. Then make his super-mode really articulate, make the wheels rubber, have a removable matrix, YES! Oh I would preorder this so fast.

IMHO, I feel that only Super Ginrai, Star Saber, Dai Atlas, and Micron Densetsu Convoy would really need MPs since Fort Max is too big to do one (without breaking the scale they've set up for this line, that is), and everyone else already has some pretty great toys that don't really need any MP updates. ;)

Super Fire Convoy, Galaxy Convoy, and Beast Wars Telemocha Series Convoy (who IMO, already works great enough for a "MP Optimus Primal" in terms of size, deco, and mold), for instance, are some of the best Convoy toys we've ever gotten. 8)

Anyone who thinks this "contest" is really an actual contest where people actually get to vote and have a say in it is kidding themselves. It's all an illusion. Just like American Idol. Rigged.

I learned a lot of official contests aren't really quite so random when I worked in radio. Whenever we drew a winner that didn't match the radio station's demographics, we just kept drawing names until it looked like a good match for the station. Random, yah, but not as random as the first name winning.

I'm sure a couple of those have concepts or prototypes already and they're using the contest to determine which ones go first or to gauge interest in items like the Beast Wars characters (this could be laying the seeds for the 20 year anniversary in 3 years as well).

Just my 2 cents. I could be entirely wrong and this could be exactly what it's being presented as.

That's an intriguing point. It seems I don't have cause for despair just yet - I'll just have to wait and see.

Oh wow! I HAVE to get this mold now. I never knew about this! A sword/combat knife!? Spikey shoulder pads that are very Junkion like!? I'm sold.

Thanks for sharing Down_Shift! :G2BOT:

It looks like the figure is based off of the comic. So we probably won't see the giant neon green gun that the original G2 Sideswipe has. :-(

At first when I saw the G2 guns I thought it was obnoxious looking. But they grew on me and now the guns are some of my favorite things about the G2 figures.
