i have really come to understand in more recent years just how cheap hastak is.
i have these horrible nightmares of the great unveiling of galvatron IN THE movie be redone something like:
unicron:BEHOLD,GALVATRON!!
MEGS'/GALVIE:WAIT A MINUTE!!THIS IS JUST A NEW PAINT JOB!!
UNICRON:IT MEANS YOU ACTUALLY HAVE MORE POWER...AND..UMM..YOU BELONG TO ME NOW.
MEGS'GALVIE:GREAT..COULDN'T HAVE MADE ME A TANK OR A CANNON WITH AN ORANGE BARREL..NOOOO..I'M A PURPLE MAGNUM..........
ARGHRHGRHGA
now that's scary.at least bw megs actually upgraded with each paint job.

Yes. But then, I have always felt that Galvatron should be a seperate character from Megatron. Of course, I think it was pretty stupid to wipe out the entire character base in TF:TM. They really jumped the sharkticon, with that one. But, that's another rant, entirely.

I'd like to see Galvatron in a modern line as a mega or an ultra. He'd be some one brought in (or created) by Megatron to be his right hand, and keep an eye on Starscream.

too many megatron repaints!!

I agree, HasTak really need to stop just repainting the same bots.
Don't get me wrong, I still like the repaints but it is a bit on the lazy side.

Would've been cool if Armada Megs evolved into Energon Galvatron without the other in between incarnations but what can you do?

At least with the alts most of the repaints have different heads and slightly different transformations so I don't feel as bad spending the money on those as opposed to just different colored plastic!

you know my "favorite" repaint of megatron is rid's.claiming 10 modes instead of 6 when these actually existed all along

Wasn't there a small point of articulation that was crippled for the Megatron release and then "fixed" for the Galvatron release?

at least they did something bold.it may not have been well received back then but now adays, how many non anime shows wipe out a core cast like that?at least they didn't p**** out like g.i.joe did.

and yes,i am aware that that particular rewrite was forced partially in response to children being so torn up at the death of optimus(myself included,i think i cried for 3 days straight)

Okay, were both right! the Japanese release was crippled but the U.S. release was fixed before shipping! It's in the following article under alternate modes.

I also used to be of the mind that Megatron and Galvatron were different characters (since I always went by toy specs over comic and cartoon bios, since they were the original source).

Over the years (in fact, fairly recently), I've come to terms with them being the same character (my own Fusion storyline features Megatron reformatting into Galvatron - even though that isn't due for a couple of hundred years...).
But I agree that just 'upgrading' him with a new paintjob and name is a major league copout.

Unfortunately, the guys they repleced the dead characters with all sucked. Did Kup ever shut up?

The biggest mistake with the post movie characters, was the cartoon writing for Hot Rod. (I refuse to call him by his Prime name) The kids were never going to get over the loss of Optimus, with Hot Rod constantly reminding them of him, and pointing out how much better Op was. They could have made HR into a great leader, with a "hip" personality. Instead they turned him into a emo kid.

Quite right... Rodimus was a bad plan, both in name and in character.

The armada ones had different circuitry and thusly, different sound effects, but that was about it

i don't really count voice chips as serious retooling.

I wouldn't know about that... almost every sound-chipped fig that came supplied with batteries had 'em removed five minutes after opening them. Those that didn't supply them never got 'em.

He got MTV to Pimp his Body each time.

Here's a question, does the beast changer or Noble/Savage mold count as a Megs?

Why?s that Ramrider? I like it when they come with sound effects cards and always get the batteries for them.

Mega-whatsit? Galva-bot? Yeah, I like the good old days, when a bot/con got an upgrade, it was a UPGRADE, and not a new paint scheme hAssbro has really dropped the ball on TF as of late. Poor Megatron doesn't get extras or new goodies like prime does, it's not really fair to the character, ok yes, he did go Super Sayain in Cybertron, but thats not good enough, he supposed to be the ephifany of evil here. If he's upgraded in a new series, he should have some major changes besides a paint job.

To be honest, I'm rarely that impressed with the sound effects anyway, but the main problem is that they're often too easy to access; when simply pushing the fig forwards or turning a gun turret starts it blaring out noises, it just gets on my nerves too quickly...

I second that! If I hear another noise from Energon Bulkhead or Scorpy, I'm gonna throw them out the window!!!
