I guess I'm thinking mostly of franchises or series when I make this list, but I'll take

Xenosaga 1-3
.hack and .hack/GU
Resident Evil 4
Final Fantasy XII which it seems not many people really liked, but I did.
Star Wars Battlefront II

Of course, in a series which has, as of late, ranged primarily from mediocre to awful, that's not saying much.

In no particular order:

The Metal Gear series--Which I feel kind of bad about saying that. Only two of the four solid games were actually released on PS2, though the original MSX games were released with Subsistence.

The Devil May Cry series--Especially 3.

The Prince of Persia series--Sands of Time is my favorite game ever, Warrior Within felt like getting beaten up by your spouse--you still love them, but you wonder why they'd do such horrible things to you. Two Thrones made up for it, though, undoing all of WW's mistakes while improving on WW's combat.

Final Fantasy X and XII--No, 10 and 12 weren't the best Final Fantasy games ever, and no one's arguing that, but 10 and 12 were good.

Hm, that's 12 games.

Tough to come up with a list. Of the games I own/played, I say...

5. Kingdom Hearts - I would never dream that I would enjoy a Disney/Square crossover when it was first announced.
4. God of War - Excellent adventure game.
3. Marvel vs Capcom 2 - A bit of a cheat because it's originally an arcade game but it's just pure fun.
2. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - It really does push the PS2's limit. Quite a huge game!
1. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater - The most cinematic gaming experience I've ever played.

Honorable mentions to the Lego Star Wars games and Transformers: Tatakai, which looking back now is an awful game but it was so much fun to play G1 characters.

I have one problem with San Andreas. The world was nice and huge with plenty to do, and it was just the right length. My problem was that, by PS2 standards, the graphics were utter ****.

The Japanese import game based on the Dynasty Warriors mechanics.

I use to play that non-stop. The enemies are relentless and transformations are limited due to energy consumption. Though it's extremely fun for G1 nostalgia sake like taking on Predaking as a boss!

From what I've heard, the voice acting is probably the only good thing about it.

I heard it was only released in Japan, so if you felt like modding your PS2 that was really the only way to play in in the states.

Who said that? GT5 was PS3, sure, but GT3 and 4 were both PS2.

Yeah, the PS2 was region-locked, so you couldn't just import the game and play. You had to mod it first, which isn't easy.

Mind if I add one to the list? It's a ps1 game, but it's awesome! :D I recently bought Megaman Legends for PS, and it's flippin' awesome! The graphics are great for it's time, the gameplay is good and easy to learn, and so far it's had a great story! As with all megaman games, it has it's frustrating moments :BANG_HEAD: , but still, just don't waste your time whining and go upgrade your buster. :KREMZEEK:

2. Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams

Soki has to be my favorite Onimusha protagonist, to the point I even main him in Tatsunoko VS Capcom.

3. The Warriors

Out of all the licensed video games I've heard and played, this has to be la creme de la creme of the PS2's generation. CAN YOU DIG IT?

4. Wild Arms 5
5. Twisted Metal: Black

I rounded out the Top 5 by naming Sony IP's that are overshadowed by God of War, Killzone, SOCOM, to name a few.

I really missed the old levels like Bespin Platforms, Tatooine Dune Sea, and the two original Kashyyks. Anyone here have a high score on Battlefront 1 or 2? Just wondering. My personal best is 172 kills in Battlefront 1.
