I suppose it is indeed a decent enough tank.

And the robot mode is decently poseable.

Image

And if you go in for third party upgrades, he has some fun ones.

Image

And either way, he makes a good leg!

Image

(And not too shabby an arm, if you must...)

I suppose, since there were a few on the top 5 originally presented that were figures I don't own or aren't interested in, I may find a spot for this mold in my own top 5 if I were to present one. :D

He actually makes a really good arm if you fiddle with him a bit. Just unpeg the legs from the side panels, swing the side panels up and with a bit of finagling you have a pretty poseable arm.

Why has nobody mentioned United Rumble and Frenzy yet?. Those two had some pretty decent tank modes and their robot modes were pretty dang awesome. Only their Pile driver gimmick let them down because of how easy it was to set it off.

I prefer these tanks personally.

They aren't bad little figures. Of course, they are more "Cybertronian" tanks then any kind of Earth based tank, and (for figures that weren't specifically futuristic vehicles in G1) I tend to prefer Earth-based alt modes...

Image

And as you say, those pile drivers can be annoying! They are on a hair trigger, and every time I transform them, I must set them off twenty times! Still, their robot modes are quite nice... if you ignore the pile drivers hanging off of the backs of the arms when not in use!

Image

(I'm guessing you can tell which side of the debate regarding which one is which I fall on!)

i cant believe no ones mentioned BW rampage yet! with WJ's guidelines im not sure he'd allow him, but rammy would totally be in my top 5!

@yots
sooooo much yes! ive got them (and the TFCC ones) and love those little guys to death!

y'know, im actually surprised to see a few people mention this guy.... :-? :???:

Image

for me, he loses major points for his small size, that awful tank mode, and that equally awful cannon. his only good quality is his show accurate bot mode. seriously, how has some 3P not fixed that cannon yet?

I tend to agree with you and prefer Brawl as a leg, mostly because I prefer the copter's as arms over legs, but he can make a good arm. Simply fold the tank tread wings out (only the front one is needed, but symmetry) and make sure he turret peice is swiveled up to the soulder. You can now spin Brawl's waist 90* around and use his knee joints as an elbow

i have that bludgeon. Does anyone know how to stop the tank treads cracking and rotting? Some sort of oil or something.

They're made of the same stuff as rubber watch straps and are showing alarming cracks. My only solution so far is to put superglue in the cracks.

Something similar just popped up in the workshop not long ago. Might be the solution.

Ooh, Heavytread and Guzzle are good ones. Very good ones. I also adore the Takara repaint of Heavytread.

Also, be careful using Armada Megatron as the thumbnail when he's not on the list. That dude is violent and it's really out of concern for your safety that I bring it up ;)

I would have put that Super Gobot tank on here before Galvatron. Galvatron is an awful figure.

Bludgeon is good, but I actually like that mold better redecoed as Banzai-Tron. I don't know why, but it just works better for me.

Haha! And he is on my list in the honourable mentions. It's a smart tactic a few other online lists have been using of introducing a topic by using a good example of what you are going for without revealing who's on the list. And with these lists being so small, I'd rather not give away too much before getting to the article.

Also, my list was more to spark conversation, as always, and I am glad to see all the other great lists jotted down here. I have my own guidelines but it doesnt mean anyone else has to stick to them. I simply preferred going with the most traditional view of a tank (cybertronian or otherwise) which is to have one big/long main cannon and threads present. Darkmount worked for me and BW Rampage was also considered since he actually has all that makes a tank, but they didnt make my final cut. I just preferred the look of the other tanks better. I am surprised no one is bringing up Crossover Hulk aside from me, I thought he had an amazing threads designed and them transforming (and disappearing) into his arms is pretty great and makes them massive.

Does each tank-former need to create it's own thread before it is eligible?

what category would beast machines scavenger belong under as he isnt a tank or a construction vehicle? and i just founded a new love for the figure but with its scout class size it would somehow be used for bruticus's micromaster (if scavenger was 5mm compatible) ( please let there be a combiner wars bruticus  )

That list is in the making for sure, but I need to try out that alpha bravo mold first and that won't be till Blades comes out (I opted for the Takara Superion).
