I still don't believe Megatron is worth being on this list at all.

I'm not going to say your wrong or anything but I just think someone worse could of been on this list.

Likewise FOC Starscream mold is a good mold even with the slightly exposed head which is not really bothersome at all.

Transformers don't become vehicles they just turn their shape to mimic them regardless its still their bodies and I find slightly exposed heads more believable then Transformers completely hiding their parts in vehicle mode Carformers such as Bumblebee are guilty of this.

I think people are being too hard on some figures like Scourge and Cyclonus. Yes their head is visible, but so what. Their helmet is utilized as part of the alt mode. The same way their arms and legs are. That's like complaining about Optimus Prime because his chest is visible.

I think the litmus test should be if you can tell that part is a head if you were unfamiliar with the toy or would you see the helmet as just another integrated part.

Transmetal 2 Megatron had a bad case of Visible Head Syndrome too, but at least it was on his back.

My vote for best case of Visible Head Syndrome is Combiner Wars Defensor, if he counts. When the combiner is separated, Hot Spot has Defensor's head hidden in plain sight, visible but disguised.

And if that doesn't count, how about the Cycle Drone from Beast Machines?

yep visible head syndrome is a major pet peeve of mine... think it was the g1 seekers that made me despair as a kid...

I always appreciate modern designs which allow the head to be turned so the fact isn't showing if the whole head isn't hidden.

that and lousy undercarriage for jets. Like 1 retractable and the others fixed, or where the under carriage has a non moving moulded wheel...
My personal prime collection so far in descending order of how great i reckon the toy is -
FE Prime, Silas Breakdown (Powerizer), Dreadwing (Powerizer), FE Bulkhead, Voyager StarScream (Powerizer), Ratchet, Soundwave, Arcee, Voyager Megatron (Powerizer), Wheeljack, Thundertron (Powerizer), Ultra Magnus (Powerizer), Knockout, Cliffjumper, Bumblebee,Airachnid

I dug up a gem in preparation for my move, and wouldn't you know it, it's another case of VHS. Everyone, meet Movie Leader Class Decepticon Brawl:

Only cost me €20/$25 ;;)

The hole is there for the Automorph, and the Deluxe Class has the same problem:

Another for the list.
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

- TR Galvatron right arm (the gun one)
- CW Brake-Neck/UW Wildrider, CW Offroad
- TR Twinferno & Grotusque
- Greenlight, Lancer and PotP Elita-1 (plus repro Victorion hands and feet?)

The one figure I was hoping to see on this list was the Energon Ironhide, that could have been a great toy, but, to me, was ruined because of that exposed head.

He's on the no. 2 spot, represented by his power-up redeco.

If anyone wonders, he was the reason for this list's existence. I only realized later that Silverbolt was technically worse. But this list was instigated by Ironhide.

How about a VHS of a different order? Everybody's been mentioning Combiner Heads, especially CW Hot Spot's. I'll up them one with this:

RiD 2001 Railspike

This toy doesn't even attempt to hide Rail Racer's head, having it stare at Railspike's crotch instead.

How about G1 Rampage, I'm pretty sure his robot head is just chilling out just under his beast head. It's even more obvious when he's an arm.

Also does Skylinx count?. But I think he has one of the better cases of VHS since you can't actually tell that the cockpit is his robots head.

I guess In my head I wrote that off as being more or less like how some transformers have their beast mode had on their chest. But yeah, contrasting that against the cleverly-disguised head of CW Defensor shows that the designs are still evolving.

That's basically what I meant with Defensor, the head's right there but you can't tell it's a head.

Still not fond of Defensor's head. I guess it's "hidden", but I really feel like it's in the way ofg the ladder boom, but eh.

For Sky Lynx, I think he falls under the same category as the Vehicon drones: The head is there, but it does something. Unliek Movie Megs, who's head is sorta hood ornement

In my humble opinion:

1) Having the head designed as part of the vehicle mode should not count. The movie Megs designs are quite cool, especially since he can see everything he demolishes with his own optics. Plus, on the argument of what is the point of transformation, isn't it easier for us to get around on skates or jetpacks? that is the role of his altmode to me.

2) I think that movie 1 Starscream should have taken his place. THE HEAD IS IN HIS TURBOTHRUSTERS AND HIS CHEEKS AND NOSE ARE COVERED BY A PIECE OF SOFT PLASTIC!!! That is a case of VHS if I have ever owned one! :BOT:

Eh, mind you, this is all just opinion... But for movie Megs, I just take it as lazy design work. Visible head? Eh, whatever. Who cares, right? What's that, you say? It's accurate to the design in the films? Then that is just lazy design work on the part of the filmmakers rather then the toy designers, but someone was still lazy somewhere!

If he wants to see everything he demolishes with his own optics, then he should have an optionally visible head like, for example, G1 Scourge. He can pop his hear out to look around if he'd like, but he can also put it away to complete the look of his alt mode.

The only time a head should be left exposed is when it is then technically not visible by virtue of being a part of the alt mode. I don't consider Sky Lynx's head visible, as clearly it has become the nose and cockpit of his vehicle mode. I'll give G1 Jetfire a pass, as clearly that is a turret of four lasers under the cockpit. Movie Megs? Nah, that's just a big ol' head there.

I will agree with you on the Starscream you mentioned, though. He's pretty bad, too. (A lot of the movie Transformers just had overall lazy designs, I thought, so the occasional examples of VHS within those lines doesn't surprise me much.)
