people are gonna get confused no matter what. i remember some of lucky's sigs a rememeber thinking, "my god, it's full of bars" but i'd need an encyclopedia to tell me what they meant.

i guess what i'm trying to say is that while nice and all and a very good outlet for creativity at the end of the day it's pretty meaningless unless you already know what tournie is what bar, and if you know that you probably already know who won anyway. so it's pretty much something for the winner, rather than to let people know who the winner is

Well it is the player's choice if they want to wear the bar. While I do agree that sometimes people will not know what they mean, the fact that people will wear them will give them a point of pride. You may not know what tournament they were in but you will know how that player performed in that tourney.

I'm in the military and I don't know what half the ribbons I see worn are, but they are there to show the achievement that person has made. Sometimes I have to look up what a new ribbon/medal I'm being awarded looks like, but I wear it with a little pride even if everyone else doesn't know what it is. And, sometimes people even ask me what this one or that one is for.

I don't mind editing my first post to keep track of what ribbons belong to what tourney. Matter of fact I think I will do that to provide a point of reference.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that while you may not know what exactly they are, you will see that player has made achievements and if they were placed in those tourney's. If you don't know what they are you can ask the player or look it up in my first post. They are there for personal pride and achievement. No one has to wear them if they don't want to.

but, getting back to my original point, why do they all have to be the same shape? maybe it would be better if they where VERY destinctive from each other in that case?

We could actually start a records thread, noting all the tournaments/scalp hunts/scavenger hunts and who won them and who ran them and the dates they ran during.

I agree with Raphael that especially bronze is too dark brown, highlighting it would help.

but as a template? sure!

Becuase if they aint smal and reasonably shaped, the better/more active/more dedicated commanders will run out of useable sig space for the actual sig.

Of course they could just chose not to use the medals, but then, why bother making the medals if they aint gonna be used?

That'd be a good idea.

I think a uniform size would help keep from cluttering up a sig with squares and rectangles of different sizes. While I agree it would be distinctive, it would also become messy. Remember these, for now are going to have to be incorporated into sigs until the powers that be decide on how to implement this. I just think it would be more organized and less intrusive on a sig. If you have a better way to do it I'm open to suggestions :)

Some shaping differences may be nice (oval, square...) long term but general size consistency will help. Organizers should - however - be able to override the templates as deemed. They just have to sponsor their own photobucket (or similar) then. Utility may be affected by conformity though (less uniform, less usable given site signature rules) unless signatures are totally devoted to ribbons.

Also, I know the side-bar has been referenced for placement; the uesr's page may be an alternative location as the ribbon count could grow significantly over time.

Seconded. Who maintains?

Recommend post #1 contains links to subsequent posts which contain results. Would allow for quick navigation and a quick review of everything that's tracked; results can be grouped according to event type in that first post and posted in the order they occurred.

I created the topic, but for some reason I can't sticky it .... hmmm. Will have to talk with the boss about that one.

I just would like for us to come up with a uniform size/shape. My way doesn't have to be THE way. In my opinion the ribbons I came up with are uniform and have a low impact on the sig area. It also gives the ability to provide different shapes within it's borders. I'm not saying that this HAS to be done, but for the sake of player's sigs I think it would be a good idea not to get them cluttered with different sized shapes ... if that makes sense.

Holy ****, you're an idea scalper as well! :P

Not really. They're simular, but that was unintentional since I was ignoring you. You want something like Live with a seperate page per user. I'm suggesting a single thread with just archived results from each tournament/hunt. Who won, who ran, and whatever other ribbons there are for the hunt/tournie. Each hunt/tournie gets it's own post would be the ideal way, with it locked and stickied to keep people from spamming it.

Edited; and yes - similar solutions to different problems. Per user in a single thread is unreasonable though - the growth will be enormous. Per event is more reasonable.

Nope, I was going for a single thread as well. basically one post per user where he updates his own info (hence the "no crap" posting.)

Keep it on subject folks. But, in answer to that ... you have a bio you can post your achievements in and link to. A records thread has been started for the tournaments that will encompass both a separate posting for each result and an overall coverage of tournament results.

For the matrix champion banner... Instead of champion, how about like a gold star in the right corner/side.

Other side(my fault, reversed left/right again), but Yeah. Champion covered a lot of the image.

Thinking about it... since people were complaining about the bronze before, what about just using gold bars? 1 for 3rd, 2 for 2nd, and 3 for 1st, or military rank...

I like those. I like the other rank banners too. I'm more or less just thinking and typing. Dangerous mix.

Thanks for the work you're putting into this stuff. You didn't have to and it is apriciated.

No biggie but thanks :). Once I have a template it's easy to change things around. And, don't hurt yourself ;).

And points to Mogwai on the WIN - pointing out we have a BIO section we can control for putting these if there is not signature space.

These are indeed good.
