Doing an out of scale Fort Max would sort of undermine that, even if it's the only realistic way they could do it.

That's true, although I wouldn't mind an MP FOC Metroplex with its own little articulated but non-transforming Optimus and Megatron figures. It's the same idea as Kotobukiya's MGS Rex model kit, with tiny figures of Liquid Snake, Solid Snake and Cyborg Ninja included.

Other MP titans like Trypticon, Omega Supreme and Fortress Maximus can have their own little figures that correspond to their respective characters in whatever universe their designs came from.

Like you said, it sort of undermines the new scale that MP-10 establishes, but it's an acceptable exception AFAIC when this is the only way we'll ever see an MP version of such massive characters.

Heck, they can even have a little "Mega-Masterpiece" subline for the city-formers like they did for the movie masterpiece Bumblebee and Starcream repaints.

That Bot wrote:Well, when I say Masterpiece-scaled, I mean a figure that is to scale with the current MP releases like Sideswipe is scaled to Optimus, not a figure that is the same size as them (which would actually be smaller than regular Fort Max). A Fort Max to scale with MP Sideswipe would be the size of a person, at a conservative estimate. The only way that's going to be $300 is if he's got minimal articulation and a bare-bones transformation.

I have to disagree. Namely because if this was 20 years ago, you would be 100% correct. However, since the acquisition of Takara, TOMY has shownt hat they can hire designers that can create scaled down Transformers and have these pieces retain MP-level articulation. However, a Lambor-scaled MP would result in they making a MP version of Fortress... As it would allow them to add Cerebros and other features that appeared in Headmasters. And it would be a better plan, as it would allow them to further this with other Headmasters, as well.

How do you know that they are fudging? I mean, it is not like how certain Subway restaurants serve 12" subs on incorrectly baked 11" long pieces of bread! So all I can say is that if the size is fudged, it is too minuscule to matter. ;)

Oh, and my issue with TOMY's MP line is not the number of Convoys (3, with 4-6 additional variants of said molds in total), but rather the fact it went from quality to quantity. So I will leave this with the announcement that I want an MP version of the Headmasters, even if it means only having Fortress transform into the head of Fortress Maximus and Scorponok transforming into the head of MegaZarak. :michaelbay:

How so? I don't see any such labels on the packaging that indicate such.

If anything, the toy's bio denotes him as being closest to IDW G1 Metroplex.

Seeing one use those names like that just makes me smile, as I hate it when one refers to the Japanese versions of the characters as "Cerebros" and "Zarak" when referring to the smaller bots who turn into the heads of the extra giant Transtector bodies. :)

A MP-scale Fortress/Cerebros would be feasible. But I don't see them making a Fortress Maximus in-scale with the other MP bots ever happening, for size reasons. This is, again, not to say that a non-scaled but still giant version couldn't happen. A 2 foot tall Fort Max with masterpiece-level articulation would be very well-received, I believe.

Because one of this toy's features is those Autobots visible on his cabin window.

Those guys indicate the correct scale of the figure. I'm fairly certain that even the legends class figures are twice, if not three times, as big as the characters depicted in his window. Thus, he is out of scale by a significant factor. Do I really care? No. But it bears mentioning, especially with regard to a hypothetical MP Fort Max. As I said above, a correctly scaled Fort Max with the other MPs would likely be so enormous that they could never sell it. An out of scale Fort Max is possible, even if it goes against their attempt to keep all the MPs going forward in scale with each other. I don't think anybody would complain too much about a character like that not being in scale.

If Metroplex were made to scale with MP figures, you wouldn't be able to fit it in your house. It's alt mode would have to be the size of a small house, and bot mode would have to be about 100 feet tall. In the game, he holds Optimus in his hand and Optimus is smaller than one single joint of one of Metroplex's fingers.

If they made a Metroplex to scale with Cyberverse, again figuring it has to be big enough to crush OP with one finger, its bot mode would have to be twice the height of a human and its' alt mode would have to be the size of a car.

If you want other TF characters to be in scale with this new Metroplex, you'd have to make them yourself by painting their likenesses on grains of uncooked rice.

This, so much. I knew we were a whiny fanbase, but when you complain about Metroplex of all robots not being big enough, you've been drinking a little too much. Metroplex will never be in precise scale with any Deluxe, Voyager, Legion, Masterpiece, or otherwise.

First of all, nobody is proposing a Metroplex that is in scale with either MPs or anything else. We're discussing a hypothetical Fortress Maximus in this scale, as per this comment:
KUMA-NIN Maximus wrote:No matter. All I know is that they can eventually consider making a Masterpiece sized version of Fort Max. But until that day comes, we have them making this big boy.

I pointed out the absurdity of a Fort Max in that scale, possibly misinterpreting his intent because re-reading that, and in light of the resulting discussion, I think he meant a Masterpiece QUALITY Fort Max rather than one in scale with the MPs. I think we all recognize that a correctly scaled MP Fort Max or Generations Metroplex would be ludicrously large and impossible to sell. Nobody is actually complaining about him not being in scale.

You made mention to his "fudged" scale and that you didn't mind. My argument was that nobody should mind or not mind in the first place; his scale will always be "fudged." I worded the middle of the paragraph wrong, but it was more of "why are we discussing the scale of Metroplex" rather than "stop complaining about his scale."

The reason I "don't mind" is precisely because I know that getting a to-scale Metroplex is about as likely as all of us simultaneously winning the lottery. The guy is ginormous and I love it, scale be damned. Please don't misinterpret my saying I "don't mind" his "fudged" scale to mean that I have any expectation of one that IS in scale. I no more expect citybot toys to be in scale with the smaller guys than I do Unicron. Sorry for any confusion.

Is anyone wondering why Metroplex doesn't more look like his FOC counterpart and why does he have to be a toy for the smaller scale transformers. Think about it. I would rather have him just as an awesome oversized transformer than a play set. I like the larger scale TF's like the deluxe and voyager. Scale aside. I dont really care about scale. Anyone agree?

Glad to hear it. Because the #1 thing I love bringing is accuracy. That way, if I fumbled a fact... You, Sabr, or Jelz, or somebody else can point me to the right series or site. That, and hope to keep the names and facts tied to the names to their appropriate continuities. ;)

Because in the end... It makes figuring out how to start a collection, develop the collection, and have reasons to why the collection is set up that way somewhat interesting to the non-fanbase.

Fall of Cybertron is old news now, time to move on. That's what Hasbro is saying at least. And consider Metroplex as an experiment, as a Transformer and Cyberverse playset in one. G1 Metroplex was originally designed for Combiners, did you know? Motormaster, Onslaught, Hot Spot and Silverbolt can connect to his City Mode, while the smaller members can attach to his robot mode shoulders and knees.

I see Generations Metroplex here as being a nice blend of the FOC design and a G1 update. He is much more the latter, but he's got some hints of the former.

I've got no problem with Hasbro moving on, what I am trying to say is that I wish the bigger scale figures like the deluxes would have more interaction with bigger TF's than cyber verse. Also, why doesn't Hasbro just Mae a TRANSFORMER, and not a play set. That's what I am trying t get across. See what I mean?

The citybots have always been glorified playsets. They still have plenty of worth as Transformers in their own right, but interactivity with other, smaller figures was built in. This is not a recent phenomenon. The big difference now, as opposed to in 1987, is that there's a separate line of smaller-scale figures specifically made to interact more easily with playsets like the ships, battle stations, and larger robots. That said, this guy will still look gigantic next to a deluxe or voyager.

After thinking on it a little, I think I'll have to pass.

I don't collect anything smaller than a deluxe so he has no value to me as a playset, and I seriously have no space for such a large toy. At most, he'll be standing on a pedestal in a corner in permanent bot mode, as city mode will take up way too much space that my man-cave no longer has after my Hot Toys 1/6 scale Tumbler and bat-pod made it their new home.

The best way to make his city mode come to life IMO, is to craft in-scale Decepticon dropships and tanks and create a diorama of a 'Con assault. You'll also need a nice customized metal battlefield to display everything.

If only I had the space for this. :BANG_HEAD:
