People aren't annoyed about what we're getting, their annoyed about what we're presumably not getting: a Voyager or Ultra class Galvatron.

Not buying the deluxe won't change that.

What really is puzzling about the whole Powerglide/Galvatron debate, which I predict we will still be arguing about 50 years from now when we're too old and confused to be able to transform these figures properly anymore, is that it really breaks from Hasbro's tradition of the more important(re: leaders and/or most popular characters who get most of the screen time) get the bigger figures while the supporting characters generally are relegated to deluxe status, scale be damned.

The more important you were in the cartoon or movie, the bigger, more detailed of a figure you were going to get.

However, this is all thrown out the window with Powerglide, hardly one of the more popular characters, the kind of guy only a small portion of the fandom pined for a Classics update, much less such a Super-sized one. On the other hand, a G1-accurate Galvatron is EXACTLY the kind of character fans have wanted since the Classic series became a reality. He is a leader, he was expected to be given the proper leader size of at least a Voyager, which would be consistent with the first wave of Classics.

In the end, I'll still buy and likely enjoy both figures(Galvatron truly looks awesome in robot form), but it will always feel odd having such a big Powerglide, no matter how I try to justify it. I just get the feeling that Hasbro overlooked the status of these 2 characters and determined their class size by the alt modes they obviously prioritized over scale.

I'm still holding out hope for the possibility that they're doing 2 Galvatrons. Remember, they also did a deluxe tank version of Megatron for the original classics.

This would be awesome...
I'm not arguing that he HAD to be Leader, or even Ultra class...
But to me, Voyager just makes sense because of what N.D.f.Prowl pointed out--
The Leader characters have always been given a little bit more "love".

The argument of ,"Well, now he's in scale with Rodimus" doesn't sway me a milliceter.

And I know and understand that others are cool with everything that this line is bringing us,
but between Ultra Powerglide,
imo, a lame duck in "Big Load", and a WEAK, basically waste of a Blaster,
a Deluxe Galvatron seems that much worse.

I'm really not a negative person, but speaking of Blaster,
doesn't everyone realize that THIS figure that's coming out may be the only chance we have to get an "updated" version of this character????
To me it's just a shame... There's so much potential for him, and they give us a repaint.

Well he shouldn't be to scale with 'Rodimus', since that toy was basically Hot Rod. Rodimus Prime would be bigger. What would make sense to me is if they do Galvatron and Ultra Magnus in Ultra Class, since both were bigger than G1 Megatron and Prime, and Rodimus Prime in Voyager class.

The G1 movie has probably sold more dvd copies than the g1 series, so even novice fans should be familiar with these characters.

GREAT points...
I'm not trying to be/sound "high and mighty",
but why can't the people who are in charge of making these toys get this figured out????
I understand to a point that money rules. It's hard to argue that.
But do these people just not give a damn?

I'll say it now-- NO, scale doesn't necessarily ruin a figure
(I'll definitely still get Galvs,
BUT, if it's possible to make figures MORE correctly in scale (which it is),
WHY NOT DO IT???????

Sadly Galvatron's...*takes deep breath* Crap. I never thought I'd say that about a Galvatron. The shear fact they made him a tank when it would be so easy to make him a show accurate laser cannon sucks, i looked for pictures and found one, instead of doing the sensible thing, and making his tank barrel detach and attach to his arm, the entire top of the tank attach's to his arm, so he cant do the "cannon on top of arm" firing pose, and classics Megatron's hand problem, means he cant eaither, pluss he's a deluxe. the classics line has disappointed me, greatly. I'm one of the few who thinks animated is superior to classics

Yannow, people, there's a phrase that keeps popping into my head right now:

Much ado about nothing.

Does Universe 2.0 have an overarching story arc to it? Not as far as I know.

If it doesn't have a story arc, does that mean that every figure is to stand alone and on its own merits, not in comparison to others? To me it does.

Does Hasbro prefer making money by pandering to fans, or making cool robots that transform that every kid on the block will want? I'd think that answer is obvious.

Ultra Powerglide. Deluxe Galvatron. Even if there DOES turn out to be a story behind Universe 2.0, it'll likely be something similar to that of the original Universe, a sort of mega-crossover type thing. In that case, who's to say that Ultra Powerglide isn't from a totally different reality than Deluxe Galvatron?

So don't display Galvy with your Classics. Display him with your Titaniums, or next to Cybertron Deluxe Unicron. Put him next to G1 Metroplex and Classics Deluxe Prime for a nice little battle.

But complaining that people are defending a figure they like the looks of because your sense of scale is offended is downright insulting, elitist, and a perfect example of why Transfans are looked down on by many other fandoms. Remember that one Shortpacked? "Neon colors, huge buttons, rounded edges - Playskool is giving the shaft to older collectors!" or some nonsense. That's what this entire rigamarole is making me think of.

And when this puppy is released at retail, I'll likely buy it. But if it doesn't have posable knees, I might not. Articulation is cool, yannow?

As is complaining about people attacking a figure they don't like the looks of.

Just as people should be allowed to praise a figure without someone attacking them, calling them an apologist, people should be allowed to criticise without getting called a whiner or ungrateful.

Valandar wrote:a perfect example of why Transfans are looked down on by many other fandoms.

IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FANDOM.

In every fandom, in every walk of life, there are people who like or dislike what they do with such passion, they CANNOT accept others have a different view without some kind of bias.

In Transformers, I criticised MP Starscream. Some people thought the mold was so "factually" perfect, I was accused of all sorts of prejudice.
One person was so convinced my dislike of Starscream was because I hated anything not G1 that when I praised the Titaniums, revealed I owned figures from all lines, and considered RiD the best show, they couldn't actually understand why.
To this day there are probably some who think I am really a geewunner who hates the new and change, because in their mind, there is NO OTHER WAY I can have the stance I have.

In NON TRANSFORMER political discussion, I criticised the Bush administration. Some people think the administration is so factually right that I was accused of all kinds of political bias and agendas and was accused of all kinds of reasons for having a political bias.

When I revealed I was British, and as such based my opinions on their actual actions, and not a political bias, people again couldn't understand it.

To this day there are probably some who think I am really an American Democrat who hates Republicans, because in their mind, there is NO OTHER WAY I can have the stance I have.

So don't give me "this is why people hate this fandom", because in EVERY walk of life, there are people who believe their opinion is so logical and unbiased that any differing opinion, either way, is somehow the result of a skewered, prejudiced, point of view.

Star Wars, Star Trek, Buffy, Angel, Stargate, Anime, gaming, reality TV, sports, religion politics have all claimed people look down on them for the same reason.

It's a human arrogance issue, nothing more.

Pottermus_Prime wrote:

Nah, I usually LIKE figures more in pics than in person.
Besides, I consider Energon Megatron to be the definitive Galvatron update, so personally I already have the figure I want.

Lovers and haters of Galvatron attack each other, then attack each other for attacking each other, then say the other side's attitude is why this fandom is so much worse than any other fandom, completely missing the point that they're as bad as each other.

I don't see myself as either a lover or a hater of deluxe Galvatron. I think it looks like a decent enough toy. Pretty cool even.

I just think it would make a lot more sense if they did it in Voyager or Ultra scale. Maybe that's never going to happen, maybe they'll surprise us.

But I don't really see this as complaining. Are there people out there who'd rather not have an Ultra class Galvatron? Do they think deluxe is the perfect size class for this character?

wow, galvatron is really a badass
even this deluxe version of galvatron can beat ultra class powerglide in a blink of an eye.

deluxe class means that there are more people who can bring him home. not all of us can purchase a leader class figure that easy.

the message of being deluxe :

I haven't read very many posts at all where an individual is "attacked".

If people read others' replies that oppose or are different from their own views,
and take those personally,
then those people need to get over themselves and realize that someone else's view(s) isn't JUST going against theirs...
It may actually be JUST another opinion.

Wow that's refreshing. Ask a straightforward question, get a straightforward answer.

It's a definite upside that deluxe Galvatron should be to scale with some of the titaniums.

Claiming that individuals posts are why other people look down on the fandom is an attack.

Many other comments are not, but people want them to be so they can go on a "typical fandom", "whiners" or "Hasbro ass kisser" rant.

People buy for their own reasons.

Someone who see's the figures as individual display pieces will care more about the quality of the mold than how it fits with other figures.

Others may want to display it with Titaniums, or THS.
Others still may want to play with or display.

And to be clear, I wasn't calling you a complainer. :)
Nekoman wrote:I’d rather have a deluxe Galvatron than an ultra or voyager.

He's not in scale with Rodimus. When Rodimus became Prime, and the same size as Galvatron, he grew.

The point people are making is that it's NOT a Titanium, and as a Classic/Universe, he should, in their eyes, be in scale with THAT line.

Hahahahaha.

A mate of mine was on Live the other day.
Bunch of Americans asked him where he was from, so he said the UK.
They called him a liar, said he didn't have a British accent because he didn't speak with that mockney accent, and when he said regional difference, they told him all British sound the same.
He said so do all Americans, and they called him Racist and ranted at him for 5 minutes.

yeah, i actually got an email from microsoft warning me against rasicm ffs. the thing is, i tried to ask why me saying afgahn was racist, and was told because it was afgahns that caused 9/11, afgahns that are killing americans every day, and are causing the problems in Iraq. I even tried telling them, brits were killed in 9/11 and the 2 wars, but they didnt listen. The thing is, they werent kids saying this stuff, it was adults older than me (23). And im not havin a go at you americans. I have a lot of very good friends over there, its just a shame the patriotism most of you guys show, when used by total idiots causes things like this.

As for his scale, the more i think about it the more i dont mind him being a deluxe. I dont have a lot of room for display, so i run out of room fast with so many big bots, and as long as he looks cool, i couldnt give a figgs rathole if he's 1" or 35" tall. Oh btw CLASSICS RODIMUS IS HOT ROD FFS!!!!!! Rodimus was a truck. (which i admit, should be brought into the classics range.) Why doesnt Rodimus get as much love as the other 3 leaders???? I prefer him to Optimus.
