Seriously though, great fig with the new armory and head sculpt. I prefer to think of it as a re-sculpt and will be a buy on sight.

Honestly, we should just be happy that it got the re-tools and we didn't just get a blue Drift re-paint.

I LOVE this mold, and if each mold got repainted:

Drift repainted in black with the guns as Deadlock

Blurr repainted somehow with the swords into someone (little help here)

I would pick those up as well.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I think this mold is entirely overrated. I don't much care for the shoulders, the shoulder kibble is restrictive and gets in the way, the legs are overly bulky...pretty excessive kibble in general, and the transformation is a bit bland. I think the alt mode might be overly large, as well.

If not for the sweet swords (or guns) and the more obscure characters that people are almost just happy to get, I wonder if these figs would still get all the love they do? I do like them and think they look pretty good in both modes...and they can get some pretty cool poses, especially with the swords...but I just don't find them to be super amazing or one of the better molds out there.

Is it just me or everybody, does his head look kind of too big?

My biggest concern is is his gun made out of the same PVC material as Drift's sword and Bludgeon's katana? I hope it's a regular hard plastic cuz I don't want a bend gun.

If you seriously wanna get technical, Blurr is a retool and a redeco. In contrast to the other two words, a repaint just switches out colors, while keeping the patterns intact.

You know what I think is funny about this? This is what, the first time in a long time where we actually see the eyes PAINTED light blue instead of that over-used light piping? HOWEVER, the paint on his eyes is almost exactly the same shade of blue as his face... which leads to a bland feeling in my mouth.. or eyes. I wish the eyes were painted darker blue. Or just left as the crystal light-piping thing again. Sigh...

Did you not read where I compared him to a conehead(movie, not seeker)? and the nice tefal reference from Mykltron? You are not in the minority. In fact if they could take some of the mass from Blurr's head and add it to Punch/Counterpunch's head I would buy the hell outta both of them. 8-}

A part of me wants Hasbro to repaint this mold into Deadlock, just cause I think the black and red Drift would look cool with guns...

Still not quite right there. Check the following pages to get the overall difference clarified. *nerd*

Also, from what I remember, Drift has not yet been seen in his Earth mode body in the actual comics. He has on comic covers, but not in the stories. Whereas Blurr has been seen with an earth mode body, at least briefly, in the form of a Bugetti Veyron.

I fail to see what you're clarifying from what was previously stated. Jelze summarized the scope of both of those articles fairly well.

Three articles.

Okay, here's and example: Sideburn - Super Sideburn. Change in plastic and painted colors but uses the same application pattern. redeco
Super Sideburn - Universe Sideburn. Plastic colors unchanged, but painted patterns are different. repaint
Any version of Sideburn - Roulette and/or Shadow Striker. New head mold, plastic and painted colors unaccountable. retool

I honestly regret even bringing this up, but the household I live in needs these facts clarified almost every week in order to understand what the difference between the things I collect is. :BANG_HEAD:

The household I live in settles every game of Munchkin with a sub-game of rochambeau the way we learned it in South Park.

The clarification that Jelze gave was fine. TF Wiki is NOT a final authoritative source of information. (They are a wonderful source of information, but the peer review and claimed authority rest only in the hands of very few contributors) If anything, Hasbro has used the terms "repaint" and "redeco" interchangably at times.

"Repaint" is most often used as slang in the community. "Redeco" is an industry term that really probably originated in the Armada era due to the need to convince WalMart why they should carry the same mold toy again later in the year.

wait...

whatever. This is really dumb. Jelze was right. Blurr is both a redeco and a retool.

I give credit to Hasbro for the significant mold changes, similar to the differences between G1 Bluestreak and Smokescreen. I don't exactly see G1 Blurr, though I'm way behind on the comics, to me it's kind of like what the original Universe line was about: combining different continuities. In this figure I see a combination of G1 Blurr and Armada Blurr, especially with the guns.

I'm in agreement with Counterpunch, Cyber Bishop, RiddlerJ and the others who feel that this figure just isn't quite Blurr. It IS a great looking figure and that new head is EPICly good. I'll happily buy this one (and steal his rifle for Perceptor), but I'm going to wait and see what if any alterations Takara make to it.

I understand what has been said about something just not being Blurr here. I like to picture my Blurr with a little less kibble. But, I'm sure I will love this figure. The Drift mold is incredible, IMO, and the fact that this isn't just a direct repaint, like the HFTD line, excites me (sexually). I love the sniper rifle. The head sculpt isnt bad, just a little too much gerth.

As already noted, this is IDW Blurr and even though that incarnation didn't have an Earth alt mode, if you compare this figure's design and IDW Blurr, the proportions are similar with wide bulky shoulders, side skirt armour, and larger legs.

A repainted and slightly retooled Generations Drift seems like a good fit for an Earth mode IDW Blurr to my eyes.

Hmm, actually, looking at them together, you're quite right. I'd forgotten exactly how IDW Blurr looks. Although, I think the problem is not so much bulk, but blockiness. He's not all that streamlined in robot mode.

Regardless, I'm getting him as soon as I can. And I might just steal the rifle for Perceptor as well.

Yes, that gun would be so boss for Perceptor. I also think he's actually pretty cool. I noticed they also trimmed the tail fin thing a bit. I found with Drift it did affect his articulation a tad. All and all a very sweet figure. Don't know when I'll get him, but I will someday :x

I was expecting to like this a lot more than I actually do. I'm not disappointed with it at all, but it just isn't something I want at all. It would require a black or possibly silver repaint in order for me to buy an additional copy of the mold.

I love this mold as Drift but am not sure of this as Blurr. That IDW Jay Leno head is not my favorite. However, I'll probably cave when I see him on the shelf.

I wish that instead of this Drift repaint, we would have been given a new Blurr figure in the same vain as the Animated/ROTF Lockdown update- the Animated version of Blurr being given more of a real world feel for the Generations line. This kind of update would have been fantastic IMO.

I would have rather seen Drift get a more aggressive retool and become Kup.
