that's very cool. hope they have swoop's wings on the back. also, kinda like the two slags as arms with the horns sticking up and out like that, nice effect. wings on back would be a better effect though

I don't need a combiner. It's a decent perk, but all I really need are some decent Classics Dinobots.

Was going to go TW, but the Sludge just pushes my buttons in the wrong way. It's a shame, too, because I love their Snarl...

I got snarl this week and he is a really nice robot , the only pain in the arse is those damn legs and making him stand straight they had me rethinking jumping on TW but after i posed him on the shelf and saw how awesome he fit in , i took him down and with some patients figured out how they work .

He desperately needs new weapons though  .

just out of curiosity, do you know who youre going with? i plan on going FP and PX, and maybe TW. i have PX swoop and FP sludge so far. and id would love to recommend FP (my sludge is awesome) but i just cant, simply based on the all the stories of QC issues. i have none with mine, but maybe i was just lucky.

Right now, I'm not going with any of them...

-PX: WFC/FOC is not relevant enough these days...
-FP: too 'neo' for my liking; I want a more 'classics' look...
-TW: Snarl nailed it for me, but Sludge is too off...

If TW's other figures are spot on, I may be able to bite the bullet and swallow my issues with their Sludge, but that's yet to be seen.

Okay. This just pushed my buttons. But I hope your wouldn't need 2 Slags for it to work, so I expect not-swoop to work like predaking divebomb with a detachable wing unit.

I'm all for this too. I was trying to decide between this line and the Fansproject ones but I'm sold on this now. I really like what FP are doing with their version, although I'm not a fan of the gimmick (but that's not exactly a dealbreaker considering you're not paying extra), but I just prefer the G1 aesthetic to these guys. The weapons look poor but I'm sure I can find some alternative weapons for them.

It's funny because I've never been one for combining Dinobots. It was something I always wanted as a kid but since it never became an official thing I had no intention of ever getting them if a 3rd party went for it. However, after seeing this big guy I'm really sold on the idea. He reminds me of Monstructor and I can imagine Dinobots combining would end up being just as chaotic.

Care to elaborate?

They look pretty nice to me. Sludge looks a bit off in areas but he still looks good. Grimlock looks superb and Slag looks pretty cool to.

I think Xs reaction is to the combined mode , which i don't feel as strongly as X but i do feel it just missed the mark , i'm glad this is more of a bonus to me then the buying point .

That was my reaction to that thing that looks like Grimlock with teeth anda dino head on his chest. I dont know if that's the combiner or Grimlock himself, but either way that thing is ugly. Sludge is off too. Once again Toyworld releases the most G1 looking figure first to get your money, then the next figures released keep getting more and more neo. They did this with their Throttlebots. They did this with their Headmasters. So I was expecxting this with the Dinobots as well. Screw Toyworld....Fansproject all the way !!!

The toothy head is the combiner head, and the teeth are totally optional- if you don't like 'em, don't take the faceplate off. Technically, as there has never been an actual Dinobot combiner (aside from The Beast, which is impossible to replicate in toy form anyway) it's not like the head diverges from the source material. The individual Dinobots are pretty spot-on to the G1 versions, aside from very minor detail/engineering differences (Sludge's legs etc). Slag is pretty much G1 to a tee and Grimlock is instantly recognizable, if not 100% accurate. But CHUG isn't meant for 100% accuracy- that's what Masterpieces are for. If you want spot-on G1 then go for Fans Toys' offerings. If you want CHUG scale then you'll have to accept some divergences from the source material.

Honestly if that's your idea of "too neo" then you can expect to never be satisfied. 3P companies do not cater exclusively to your taste- if you want Dinobots made exactly to your narrow specifications then ask Frenzy-Rumble to make you a set of custom Dinobots painted with the exact shade of yellow from the cartoon.

i personally dont see any "neo" in TW's dinobots either. and its funny that (X) says FP all the way, those molds are the very definition neo.

Sludge would have been spot on if he didn't have that damn leg kibble on his wings and that awful silver chrome ,the others look decent enough .

To be honest i don't think any of the dinobots teams are that amazing even the MP , each group has there ups and downs .

Love the gestalt head with the removable face plate that reveals the beastial fanged teeth. Think more Beast-bots combiners Gestalt heads should this.

My favorite 3rd party Dinobots are the Fanstoys MP Dinobots. Second favorite are the ToyWorld Dinobots.

I think the silver chrome on Sludge is a homage to the G1 toy, which (I think) had chromed silver "wings". The cartoon character model had them too but obviously the animation was too crude to portray them as anything other than grey.

It does look a bit weird but I can see what they were aiming for. The legs are a bit odd, I suspect they went with that setup for some engineering reason, perhaps structural integrity in combined mode. Or maybe the legs ended up too small to make into decent arms, and making them bigger would have made the Apatosaurus mode look weird. Honestly I'm not overly bothered about kibble unless it adversely affects the toy structurally or makes it hard to pose, but I do agree it looks strange. Perhaps if they'd made them able to detach and form hand-cannons it might have looked better?

I have a feeling when we get their Sludge in hand the placement of the legs on the wings will not bother us as much. You really only will see it with a extreme side view.

I think there are other things that bother me more than that. I don't like the sword going into the Dino neck and that chain on the sword hanging out. I would rather gone for a neck like Planet X's. It has some neck articulation to make it fun.

I hope sword storage doesn't mess anything up about Slag or Swoop.

Yeah that's another dislike of mine also , It's stupid as hell with that bit of cable hanging off the sword , what were they thinking :BANG_HEAD: I'm hoping when someone makes better weapons they will try to make some gap fillers for that storage gap

As for the chrome i know it's G1 but i think my problem is there's too much of it it's in your face , i could do with out it .

Anyway iv'e committed to TW and before i noticed the nit picks i thought he looked great , so i'll wait till i have him in hand for a final judgment on weather i can live with them .

I'm all in for these. They are classics sized and the most G1.

I might not get Grimlock if he is way bigger than the other members, or grossly more expensive... I have the Silver Knight Grimlock I might modify to take its place.
