Throttler looks awesome. Honestly he looks way better than the new titan class Hasbrostator everybody is drooling over. I do plan to display him in combiner form most of the time. Maybe as Puzzler with my gobot homages or maybe in my Cybertron display as a generic character. I would rather have a blatantly generic combiner on my shelf than throttlebots that look almost nothing like the actual throttlebots (except rollbar) its like they took the throttlebots heads and put them on bodies colored like the throttlebots. (except rollbar lol) I dont really see the point of the goldbug backpack though. They had 6 characters to work with so they could have kept them all the same scale like G1 and had a 2 bot torso like Devastator. Either way, Im very excited about getting these because theyre classics oriented rather than geared towards MP scale. I can complain about "neo" all day, but I do appreciate companies giving us obscure characters in "classics" scale. Its far from dead.

BBTS lists them as being "2nd quarter 2015" but in package images usually means dropping within the month. Is there any release dates posted in Japanese wherever these photos originate from ?

Think these are the best Throttlebots updates toys anyone will ever make. These truly look like Binal Tech toy versions that can combine into something that looks like that Gobots combiner..

The problem lies in the fact these are Transformers characters a big chunk of fans either don't love enough or don't know exist. Just think if a fan is willing to spend these 3rd party TF toy prices. It will be a TF character toy he really likes and is on his top 20 update TF toys wish list.

Lets not forget the Throttlebots were not core staring characters in any of the G1 USA or Japanese TF cartoons. The Throttlebots were also portrayed tiny, rather weak, low command ranking and got beat up in every 1980's G1 fiction that they were in. Think these are turn off when deciding to buy exspensive 3rd party update toy versions of a original character.

With all that said above. No, I won't be spending around $400 to $600 to get this Throttle bots combiner. Rather buy a few 3rd party combiner updates toys that were not as obsecure. Characters that were portrayed strong, high command ranking, Core starring characters.

If Hasbro released these exact same TW Throttlebots toys that formed a combiner, was part of Alternators or CHUG. Sold them for $15 to $25 each, Then I'd buy them all. The limit of my love for these characters toys toy get all Six in brand new update toy form is around $75 to $100, not around $400 to $600.

Sideload's face reminds me a bit of Wreckgar or some other Junkion. I think he could be an honorary member.

Seeing boxed pics together like that, wow! Wish they would've spread the releases out a bit instead of trying to jam them in all at once, even if they have a LOT of time to make up for since Grindrod's release.

One of the coolest things about classics themed 3rd party figures is getting these obscure characters that will NEVER see a Hasbro release. Most the strong, important characters in the G1 cartoon already have classics representation in some form. So getting the grunts to stand behind their leaders and commanders really helps round out the cast.

Also keep in mind that the Throttlebots were only featured in “The Rebirth” which was only 20 minute episodes that introduced dozens of new characters including Headmasters, Targetmasters, Nebulans, New city bots, good and evil Clones, Sixshot, Punch/Counterpunch, and of course the Throttlebots. How important can you really make any of these guys in only 60 min of airtime ? I’m sure if the American G1 animated cartoon continued longer, we would have gotten to see these characters as individuals and learn their strengths, weaknesses, and back stories. Unfortunately after 1987, Transformers had pretty much ended its mainstream run and necessity for a cartoon series. But we shouldn’t hate them just for being obscure. If all obscure characters get no love, then Overlord will never get a figure. I don’t know where the character stands among Asian fans, but to the American fandom Overlord is considered to be very obscure. Honestly I never heard of him until I met you. ;)

Most veteran Transformers fans in their 30's and 40's know who Overlord is. Thanks to all those sites that host free episodes of Headmasters, Masterforce, Victory and Zone. There were even those Complete DVD's series. then their is Wiki.

Fun Pub and IDW gave Overlord staring comics roles and botcon gave him a toy in 2012.

Overlord was the star bad guy leader in the Masterforce cartoon series. Until Black Zarak arrived and took over.

Going by that logic, You might as well refer to Godzilla as a Obsecure character.

So he is not obsecure to Americans fans like you assume.

Overlord was the star bad guy leader in the Masterforce cartoon series. Until Black Zarak arrived and took over.

Well not everybody knows about the japanese shows. I didnt know about them until about 2010. I have everyone on AVI file but I just cant seem to get into them. They are plauged with subtitles, bad voice actors that all sound the same, repeated voltron like transformation sequences, and really bizarre storylines that give any American pure culture shock. Ive tried to watch them...its just too hard to enjoy. So thats one reason many people wont know who overlord is. Dont think Im just targeting him. I had no idea who star saber was when that MP figure was first announced. I didnt know who god ginrai was either. When I bought trailerforce I saw him as powermaster optimus prime from the US toy release.

As far as the comics go I just gotta be blunt, not everybody reads comics...or reads at all for that matter. The problem I have with IDW comics is they draw the boxes and words in a way that you dont know what order to read them. Its like one big clusterf**k. Also its annoying how IDW keeps switching back and forth between two seperate stories on every other page...I really hate that. Im basing all this on the comics that come free with the last waves of generations figures before combiner wars. Since the book stores at my local mall closed, I dont even know where to buy comics anymore. I havent seen them on sale anywhere since like 2003. Im not saying they arent available, Im just saying I havent seen them anywhere like I used to ten years ago.

But anyways, there are many reasons why people might not know japanese TF characters. I know what I know only because of the internet. I didnt grow up with those characters so to me they are all obscure. But like I said before, obscure is cool. And the throttlebots are just as cool as overlord to me. :D

I'm just hoping MMC still plans to release their Overlord, that their calling Carnifex. Thinking the 2015 Convention year is the right time for MMC to provide info and pic on this.

With the rumors i'm reading of MMC getting a second assembly factory. Hoping this translates into more workers and faster products releases.

According to the IDW TF comics. The DJD and Overlord have a Love-Hate history relationship. They appear to now be rivals, With DJD leaving off that they added Overlord to their hit list. Just hoping MMC sees this, by first releasing the DJD toys, Then second, releasing the Overlord-Carnifex toy.

As for me, I like the overall proportions, but I am bothered by the combiner's chest. It looks like a huge jutting belly. For shame...Regardless, the individual bots are just...absolutely...gorgeous. =P~

these are cool and toyworld stuff is pretty good. only thing, why not have goldbug as a chest? would look cool, like gold armor, match the head, and make him serve a more, lets say, worthwhile roll in the combination.

oh well still good stuff, im all in.

Im glad Throttler is a parts forming combiner. Since the combiner mode is just a "what if" novelty, I wouldnt want all that kibble to ruin the individual bot modes. They barely look like the throttlebots as it is. (Except Rollbar)

I'm calling total dick move if rollbar is not re-released by TW. I like this a lot, I like obscure "what if" gestalts but damn do I need 2 auroras if I want a standing gestalt. Also I hope we can start to see more random releases like steelcore(even though he's my IDW roller) Some not all 3rd party's need to try their hand at just making robots that transform and could fit in with the familiar bots we know and love. whatever my 2 cents/rant for the morning.

Jesus, the amount of combiner kibble is just inexcusable. Hands and feet, yeah, I can understand (although having them do absolutely nothing outside of combined mode is seriously lame) but the shoulders, head, knees and hips? Seriously? At this point it's barely a combiner- it's a robot made of parts with some cars strapped on here and there. The individual robots look great (much, MUCH better than the original Throttlebots) but I kinda wish they'd left out the combining gimmick altogether, or at least had the engineering properly integrated into the individuals.

Gotta admit that I'm liking that as well, even though my Throttlebots will most likely display uncombined.
