While these may not have the engineering of a transformable robot, they flat out prove bigger doesn't always mean better. I believe the MP line could have been created in smaller CHUG scales without any simplifying. I truly believe the MP scale is big for nothing.

I accept your belief.
I disagree with your belief.
I don't need to justify my own belief as I accept your belief without justification.
Are you capable of accepting my belief?

Thats totally respectable and I accept your belief. But we live in a world where justification helps add credibility to ones beliefs.

The topic never really had a home to begin with so it travels from thread to thread. ;)

I hope my lowriders helped paint a visual picture for you to better understand why I feel bigger doesnt mean better. If you need a Transformers related example look no further than Justitoys WST. Same s**t, different size.

And determining if ones logic is based on good reasoning becomes a matter of personal opinion. (just like politics ;) )

Getting back to Throttlebots...

Is bigger really better ?

Ad infinitum. Hopefully we do get some pics/images in the toy haul thread. How hard is it to post pics anyway.

When I have them in hand, I could post pics and opinions about the figures. That is, unless my logic has no good reasoning causing my beliefs to lack credibility. :-B

Overall, all six are quite nice. The biggest problem is their instructions... suck. Wideload-I'm calling him Wideload, that's who he is ;) - is a might bit fiddly, but it was about a hundred times worse with the instructions. I watched a video from Peaugh on YouTube and it became about a hundred times easier. No joke.

They're really good figures, fun to play with. I am not going to combine them. The amount of extra parts is a load of horse apples. Feet, head.shoulders/collarbone, hands, knees and waist piece. Absolutely ridiculous. I think Wideload and Goldbug would've been half without that crap!

I don't think they were ever actually designed to combine. I think when people saw a pseudo foot out of Rollbar, the issue was pushed and TW reverse engineered the combined mode into the 3rd and later releases.

That would explain a lot. The half-arsed combiner mode with that metric f*cktonne of useless junk is what put me off them (that and the fact that I'm not paying 3rd party prices for characters as irrelevant as the Throttlebots).

Good idea keeping Tsu's spirit alive here. Ill piggyback of that by adding Throttler stands at 14.275 inches from head to toe. :D

But I dont believe the combining was an afterthought. I can understand the hummer, but it would make no sense to have freeway and chase taller than rollbar and searchlight if they werent arms. I believe it was always going to be a combiner from day one. They didnt put too much effort into parts integration because they knew alot of people wont care about it. Im one of those people. My combiner parts are in a shoe box right now. Im happy they arent stuck on the robots as useless kibble making the figures even more complex then they already are.

Yes X, we know you are a manchild incapable of handling anything more complex than a 1-step changer, and thus need spoonfeeding with chunks of completely useless combiner kibble in order to avoid breaking anything. Thank you for reminding us how you want the engineering of Transformers/3P held back just to satisfy your hamhands.

X is right about TW designing these to combine this way from the start. TW was the first to show an image of Rollbar's leg mode, which is what started the combiner debate with these guys.

The combiner option was always meant to be optional. Many don't like that those optional parts were included, but many would've been upset if they weren't. TW was always going to cop flak whatever they did.

TW could get away with the combiner kibble it because the Throttlebots didn't combine in G1. The half measure means these are still true to G1 in spirit, while giving fans just that little bit of extra playability.

DM is an expert in making generalizations. He thinks ALL transformers collectors enjoy complex puzzle solving because it is associated with "geek culture". Its like saying anybody who owns a classic/antique car loves working on engines. I dont think he gets that some collectors arent so hands on, and are more about the visual display aspect of collecting transformers. DM admits the only 3rd party transformers he owns are the fansproject Bruticus bots. Those were a walk in the park to transform. I think if he actually owned some of these newer 3rd party figures, he would change his tune. He would realize how much playability is lost to give every part some kind of bizzare use in every mode. Not saying I "play" with my toys, but I do enjoy changing up the displays sometimes. Thats what I get a sense of satisfaction from. Not from figuring out complex transformations. Spending hours to transform the damn things is a kill joy.

Nice generalization there, and with a hint of condescension to boot!

My whole beef with parts with nowhere to go in a lot of the modes is it's essentially cheating. I can sort of accept it with a figure based on an anime (like SoC Gunbuster) but Transformers has always been a toyline first which coincidentally had a cartoon to promote it (a poorly made cartoon at that). Therefore if a Transformer fails as a toy and a work of engineering it fails completely. Having large chunks of a mode be miscellaneous crap that doesn't do anything outside of that one mode is lazy and uninspired. I don't object to partsforming per se, providing the parts do something. CW handled the issue of the hands and feet fantastically, and so for that matter did the PE addons. Heck, the ancient FP Bruticus set did too- with all those parts, every single one found some use in every mode. The fact that it can be done well (and has been done well for that matter) strips any excuse from lazy manufacturers who can't be arsed taking the time to make the parts do stuff.

And frankly, X, your overall attitude combined with your constant bitching about how much you hate "puzzles" suggests you should have spent more time exercising your mind as a child rather than scaring off helicopters with plastic weapons. ;)

You know I support the concept of mass shifting so obviously a toy "cheating" doesnt bother me. I care more about how good it looks in its finished modes and less about what happens in between those modes.

On all the personal stuff you keep spewing, I could say a lot of mean things...but I wont. Theres a lot more to my life than transformers and engaging on these forums. I knew how to have fun as a kid and I still do as an adult. Dont spend so much time exercising your mind that you let your body go to waste. Maybe thats why Verne Troyer always gets invited to the playboy mansion but Stephen Hawking never does... ;)

By that logic you might as well just have a non-transformable combined mode with non-transformable models of the vehicle and robot modes of the component robots.

So now you're making fun of cerebral palsy. How very tasteful. >:oP
