I have a feeling it will be something unique to the movie and not something like in the cartoons.

Read Ryan's review. At least I think it was his. The original transformation sound has been "refitted" and put into the movie. So it's there. Only updated for the longer transformations.

Yeah, my guess is that they\ll pay it homage, not use the exact sound. Probably more grating metal and swishing steel, and less "sitting on a waterlogged accordion".

i'll be glad if it pays homage to the G1 sound as long as it fits the transformation!

Well...the transformation sound in Transformer: Cybertron was quite different..but it was still a transformation sound.
So, yeah...it will probably be something that sound kinda like the g1 sound!
