TRANSFORMERS 1oz Silver 2 Coin Set

We already know you like Transformers, but how about collectible coins? How about collectible Transformers coins? The New Zealand Mint is offering a limited edition set of Transformers featuring faction leaders Optimus Prime and Megatron. Check out the details and images below. They're a little on the pricey side at $233.46 per set plus shipping. These are scheduled to release in April.

Reverse Design:
Each coin dramatically depicts Optimus Prime and Megatron in high quality colour. These are set against an engraved relief background along with the iconic TRANSFORMERS logo.

Obverse Design:
Each coin features the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The coin is issued by New Zealand Mint as legal tender, under the authority of Niue Island.

Packaging:
The coins are presented in a TRANSFORMERS themed display cube featuring silver embossed Decepticon and Autobot insignias.

I'm against them. I'm not sure why people swap lots of legal tender for a lot less legal tender that's a bit funny looking.

(plus side, if you get a load of coins and arrange them in date order from most recent to oldest, you can see the queen get younger and hotter. it's like an olay advert or something!)

Silver is at $30 an ounce with 2 coins that's $60 in silver so your really paying for two very small very generic pictures... I'll spend my money on those new masterpieces

I own a few actual antique coins. But I hate it when evertime someone famous takes a s**t and they get a coin to commemorate the moment. These remind me of those WWII, Apollo Mission, Elvis Presley and Sept 11 coins always being sold in newspaper ads. A pure novelty.

I'm no coin collector myself, but the Optimus Prime coin would be a treasure...
