CHRIS METZEN: This was it! When we started conceptualizing the story, we knew it was really all about Hot Rod – and how he was at this tipping point between the two ideologies… we wanted Prime and Megatron to duke it out – but create a scenario where Hot Rod would finally have to buck up and “choose” which side he’d be on. Given my obsession with the 1986 animated film, it seemed like a slam-dunk to relook at that famous “duel” scene and spin it the other way. I think Flint really wanted to push the idea of Hot Rod getting a “web-redemption” and making good for the screw-up all those years ago. This ending was one of our favorite scenes in the series.

It was lazy to go back and it is nothing fan fiction writers haven't done before. That fight was boring because I have already seen it and it was much better animated. The dialog was the same so I went through it so fast. It was an epic battle in Transformers the Movie, in Autocracy, it just fell flat.
