Hardcore G1er here. 33 years old. I loved the movie! There's a few small things I could nitpick but I won't. What do you want? It's about robots that turn into vehicles for christ's sake! I will see it again. My kids and my wife loved it too. Even though he comes across as an ass I thank Mr. Bay for bringing my childhood memories and imagination to life! Albeit much different looking but it was still badass!

not to be too nitpicky...but Gobots & to some extent Gundam was about robots that could turn into vehicles, too.......
....Keep in mind, though, I'm just being a smartass. I liked the movie, too.

This is an AMAZING result. Especially given the lower budget of the film.
Great, great news for the franchise.

Mr. Bay was and is perfectly capable.
That doesn't mean he's the best though.
Take this into consideration on the job that he has done and how it has appealed to the masses. My wife doesnt really like comic book or toy based movies. She thinks me going to comic con is a little immature for a 29 year old. At first when she saw the trailer her first words were "cheezy" now after about 20 t.v. spots she is amped to go see it. So in my book he was the best for the task at hand. And in reality there is no "best" director for this movie because your oscar caliber director could be a hack to me where as someone who directed an animated short on cartoon network could be my pick on who I would want to see it. Who the "best" is to do this movie is all subjective.

I'm just saying. Michael Bay did an amazing job but I don't think we will know who the best director is without having the same movie made multiple times by multiple directors. I've been thinking over in my head how other directors might be able to do it. It's less directing more of an approach.
