I've given it more thought.

We have to consider why the ship crashed in the first place. Was it shot down? Earth's Magnetic field? How come the crew of the ship didn't wake up before the humans touching it.

I'm ruling out Unicron as the moon thing, for one single reason. It's the moon, if it happens to be Unicron and he transforms, Earth is screwed, it would be the movie 2012 instead of Tf 3.

I like the idea that it is a prime. But I don't think they'd contradict themselves that he's the last prime , and build the entire second movie on that concept. So no prime.

So the guy is old, and he's colorful. His eyes aren't red. Meaning he's an Autobot. He has Cybertronian language on his crown.

Let's think as they do. Why would they show us this guy in the trailer. And not something else. His features are similar to all what you guys mentioned above. Primarily being Alpha Trion. I'd say 80% he's some one we know. Since the teasing is useless if it's a totally new character. It could be Sunstreaker for all we know, or even Huffer. They made Jetfire an old bot, why not someone else in a new light. Silverbolt?

But what does it mean that this guy is waking up? Usually in trailers like this, it's a foreshadowing, he's evil, he wakes up. But this guy is good (sort of). What would him waking up mean? That he is a messenger warning us of the impending doom ? (Unircon for example). Why would they tease us about someone waking up who will end up being good and friendly. It's definitely not the discovery by the human race. Because by now, I think the human race already knows.

I'm guessing it will be related to a revalation for the Transformers more than the humans. Maybe he knows who made the Allspark.

You know, after thinking about the fact that he is gold, I briefly wondered if he was going to slip outside and replace the Moon-lander, to return to Earth with the Astronauts in cognito.

Then I remembered that the LEM had to split in half (the gold half being left behind) in order to leave the moon and reunite with the CSM, and then that half would have been left behind in orbit to crash back into the moon.

Life would suck for that guy, huh?

I know that and you know that, but I'm not confident Michael Bay knows that.

Yes, but that's only a handful of humans.... the way budmaloney phrases it, it sounds like he is referring to 'human race' as the whole world, as if the new trailer takes place after ROTF where everyone knows now

Well we already saw alt. mode pics for Skids and Mudflap when production 1st started but none since... I imagine they will get wiped out somewhere around the beginning of the movie

Id just like to give my opinion.

This unknown autobot aboard this ship could probably not be sentinel prime. look at the facts. several thousand years ago all the primes (and the fallen) created the sun harveter. Then the primes killed themselves to hide the matrix from the fallen. SEVERAL THOUSAND YEARS AGO.

So how did sentinel prime get aboard this ship. Unless Bay has made sentinel a descendent like optimus, this cant be sentinel.

Say what you will but thats what i think.

Sentinel Prime is definitely the most likely based on the colouring and age. But Michael Bay isn't exactly known for his accuracy.

How about Kup? He's old and he's been getting around the galaxy on his own. None of the other Autobots would even know that he's there. But he could reveal some interesting info and revelations for the Autobots. Maybe he has heard of or met Unicron?

I've just had a new thought; the Golden Autobot that awakens looks like it has shoulder restraints, so I'm surmising two possibilities:

1) It's an Autobot ship devastated by a Decepticon attack; the Gold Guy (we don't know who it is yet, so that's what I'm calling him! Hehe) strapped himself in (maybe to jettison away from the ship, or he was in the pilot's seat), but it was too late and he has been 'unconcious' in the wreck up until the astronauts arrive.

2) It's a Decepticon ship and the Gold Guy is their prisoner...

Just an idea or two to throw in, there!

If he's Sentinel Prime, I'd have to be if ROTF would still make sense, since Optimus was "The last Prime." Right?

He's Sentinel, alright. But not Sentinel PRIME. How 'bout Sentinel Minor? Sentinel Magnus? (The other two classes that I can remember in Animated) How about just Sentinel? It makes him sound like a drone, but there's worse names out there in Transformers.
