Indeed, you are correct.

Though, to be fair, it wasn't exactly clear in the film. You could tell that Megatron was headed toward Saturn, due to the rings, but it wasn't clear if it was the planet or one of it's moons.

I think the comics stated which moon, correct?

As a gas giant I wouldnt expect Saturn to have much of a urface to offer for a ship to be on, and if it did I would suspect that the "atmosphere" wouldnt have been so clear and free of gaseous drifts.

How about "The Chaos Bringer" or something similarly cool? I get the familiar impression that Bay is completely abandoning all TF historical precedent again. Apparently all the TF creators, collectors and fans are wrong about what is really a great way to do Transformers. Bay has a direct link to the Creation Matrix.

I really hate seeing fans use things like the TF history as a way of denouncing the films. The fans, the collectors, and the creators don't know the right way to make a TF film because there is no right way. It's all a matter of opinion. You may want a more stringent story following G1 frame by frame. Let's say I think that idea is the most terrible way to make a movie. Personally, were both right, but factually, neither of us are right in any sense. Bay is making the films the way he personally would, not the way others feel is "right".

And besides, what historical precedent on naming the film does he have to go on other than Transformers 3: The Movie? Until we know the context behind the name, claiming things like Chaos Bring or the Rise of Unicron would be better subtitles is premature. What if Unicron isn't even in the movie? Then those subtitles would be meaningless. Bay chose ROTF because it fit the theme. I suspect he's doing the same with this one.

I think we all shouldn't rush to judgment so quickly. Like I said, we know nothing about the film plot wise other than Shockwave is the main villain. I think we can wait a few months for the details to start trickling out before we declare that Transformers is ruined forever. Again.

Okay, here is the REAL issue with the subtitle:

"Dark of The Moon" hints at the cerebral, the ethereal and mystical nature of the permanent darkness of half of our moon. The many plays, songs and poems written on the subject or titled so convey the sense of the mysterious, with complex overtones of spirituality, darkness of the human spirit and our evolved fear of the night. Subjects that are all very intense, deep and emotionally driven.

With that in mind, let us examine the tenor of our two previous Bay Transformers films (hereafter referred to as "TF Films are..")and play "True or False" with some of the adjectives used above.

TF films are cerebral. FALSE
TF films are mystical. FALSE
TF films are mysterious. TRUE (As in: it is mysterious how this dialogue was written. OR It is mysterious how this juvenile, vulgar and racist language is coming out of a robot's mouth)
TF films are complex. FALSE
TF films are intense. FALSE
TF films are deep. TRUE (As in: The cow feces is very deep in here)
TF films explore and espouse the complexities and darkness of the human spirit. OMG FALSE

This subtitle just doesn't work. Not because of most people's immediate association with a Pink Floyd song. Not because of most people's ignorance of the celestial lexicon. It is a fail because it is a thinly veiled attempt to add significance and weight to a film that has a predestination to platitude and low brow humor.

There isn't anything wrong with the films...just don't try to make TF:3 be something it's not (and something no one is expecting it to be).
No thing that is created by humans is infallable.

Why, why, why, can so many of you only complain about anything and everything Transformers.
I really don't get it.

As if something good has come out of your hands in the last, oh I don't know, your life?

Everybody is entitled to his opinion.. yeah... but if it is there just to complain, shut up. Go play with 25+ year old Optimus Prime that doesn't even look half as good anymore as the subtitle they may have come up with.

It is a effing Hollywood movie. It is meant to make big, big, big bucks and it is not made for some washed up 30 something guy who hasn't hit puberty yet.

Go play with some soap, wash your mouth, drop it, bent over and become at least something.

I typically do. This was not a personal attack that I was in any way involved with. I wasn't really bothered, it just reminded me of one of the negatives about message boards.

At the same time, I know many amazing people that have fallen prey to making personal attacks on boards, so I am certainly not going to judge someone for doing it once and again.

Just wish it didn't have to happen.

I concur! I can't stand 'of the' titles and I knew TF3 would be yet another, but I actually like this one! :D

I like the subtitle as well. It is dark and sinister, as the plot is supposed to be.

Regarding homages to the 1986 TF movie, with the exception of Starscream betraying (and maybe killing) Megatron, I hope they never appear in the movieverse: Unicron is too "out-of-scale" for a live action film (as once said by one of the producers still in 2009), and replacing Optimus leadership by Rodimus is IMO the worst ever story-line within the TF mythology.

I agree with everything here. Don't think Unicron and Rodimus fit too well. Hot Rod sure, but not Rodimus...

BULLSH!T! Its wrong! All of this is freking wrong. Ok, I admit the TF movies arn't that first word, but they are mystical. They changed my life. They tought me that every one hates you when you like somthing that not alot of other people like, and that life still sucks no matter how much you cry! Its a matter of personal preference, but it was mystical for me.

They are mysterious. Because you never know whats going to happen until a few days before the release of when you go and see it. They keep it such a big secret. Again, when did any robo EVER say anything racist? I never heard a single racial slur in either movie.

They are complex. You have to know exactly what the Allspark does, what the Well of Allsparks is, why The Fallen can only be killed by a Prime, and how Optimus and Megatron are brothers. Or it will have you thinking that Sam went to "robot heaven" and was resurrected by a spiritual robot.

They are intense. The first movie...was not as intense as it could have been. But ROTF kept me at the edge of my seat the whole damn time I was watching it! I never knew what was going to happen next! I expected Ironhide to die and Bumblebee to defeat The Fallen and Optimus to be killed at the very end of the movie. It still keeps me on the edge of my seat after over a year, watching it on a small laptop screen it still keeps me excited.

They are deep. I can tell yo're not a person that looks for everything in a movie. ROTF is deep but no one ever ses anything. I swear to hot dog piss there is somthing extremely deep in that movie. But I'm gonna see if any one can figure it out at all. Next time you watch the movie, pay attention to the backgrounds, certain dialogue, the locations, even the over all plot because all 3 of those things connect many times thruought the movie and no one even notices. And it may not have even been intentional, the important thing is is that this symbolism and connections are there.

They do explore the complexities and darknesses in the human spirit. It is really simple. You see somthing from space, you dont know what it is, the only logical thing to do is the blow it to hell. Thats how most people think.

personally i dont mind the subtitle as much as long as the plot does involve the moon.

im not sure which moon but hopefully about a moon

i was kinda thinking something that when the harvester or when the fallen was destroyed that unicron had woken from a slumber

and i believe that the fallen was a follower of unicron. i could be mistaken

it would be cool if unicron coming to earth was the fallens true intentions of revenge
. even though he lost his life. as so bay wants us to think
well i dont know but i hope the movie is good

:CON: :CON: :CON:
and shockwave as the main villain doesn't sound good to me
even in G1 he wasnt a big character and really of no importance

the character i feel sorry for is starscream
in the credits of the first film they make it seem like hes gonna do something big in the second movie but he doesnt

starscream was ripped off haha ^-^

I love how so many are so quick to suggest titles that they feel are better than "dark of the Moon", yet have absolutely no clue what the plot of the movie is going to be.

Seriously.... its just a sub title.

You don't need the plot of the film to see how stupid that subtitle is.

This is all a moot point, however, since Bay's redirect now says The Dark SIDE Of The Moon.

Which makes more sense, is equally cheesy, and more understandable. I have no idea how many people would be outright confused by such crapola.
