Anyone else think that "The Journey" segment really sets the stage for a space-based third game? Can we say "Escape from the Planet of the Ap--" erm, I mean, "Escape from Cybertron"? :)

I think they put this out to cement a 3rd game. I mean from all the glorious reviews from all the different game an non game related outlets, I wouldn't be surprise if we hear an announcement from Activision soon.

I believe that WAS the original intention but the Exodus novel starts with Optimus in the archives, befriending megatron, working its way up to the major conflict, Megatron disposing of the previous Prime who IS NOT Zeta Prime as in War for Cybertron, then Optimus being named the new Prime by the council with Megatron present, which finalizes the segregation between Optimus and Megatron. They then go through the same ordeal of leaving Cybertron and go Planet hopping in Exiles.

I probably missed some important differentiating details between the books and video games but there is enough to make them separate but similiar continuities.

It's always hard to fit all these continuities together without ignoring small details like how Prime could be what happens after FoC but the fact that all the robots already knew about dark energon before getting to earth and rediscovering it. I guess they could have "forgotten" somehow.

Or how WfC and FoC could be a G1 continuity but there is the ongoing detail about the dinobots and combaticons.

It's fun always trying to piece these together. I wonder if they will make one more game that is on earth, or if they made a new MMORPG so the fans could kind of write the new continuity their selves.

I think the basic timeline goes like this:

Exodus (first half)
War for Cybertron/Exodus (second half)
Fall of Cybertron/Exiles (first few chapters)
Exiles (majority of the rest of the book)
Prime

Damn, I hate it that they placed this game in the Prime universe. It just feels G1-ish...
Though the game itself is Fantastic with a capital "F".

This does set up the eventual third game in the series nicely, and I recall something similar was produced upon the release of the first game as well. Here's hoping that while there is a lot being done to needlessly meld this series with TF: Prime, the third game will speak for itself, leaving Hasbro to finally let the two new narratives remain similar but different, and separate.

This. :michaelbay:

And there is also the fact that this can also lead to other things... Such as developing ways to set up collections, writing fan-fiction, and more. :D

I think we'll see an announcement for Transformers: Journey to Earth, or some other synonym for traveling, soon.

I really hope this is it's own continuity. I'd rather it lead into G1 than Prime, though. I just hope the designs are less bulky in the next installment. My biggest complaint are Optimus and Swoop's legs. They are THICK. It just doesn't make any sense on Swoop, and Optimus just looks weird.

I too feel the same as you. To me, WFC is more likely to be part of G1. This shouldn't be Prime related. If they make a third game (maybe titled as End of Cybertron), then they should scan their G1 vehicles.

Man, how many times are we gonna see this timeline? They just keep putting a different background on it or reshaping the direction of the timeline to make it look different, when all the info it contains is the same stuff we keep seeing each time there's news about a "Fall of Cybertron timeline".

It CAN'T lead to G1. There are too many inconsistencies.

Yeah, and they don't go directly to Earth. They go on a long planet-hopping quest.

I'm not going to argue what continuity the game is in as I just don't give a flip where it falls. Inconsistencies or not, the game, to me, feels like it's more along the lines of G1 than this new Prime show. I've not seen anything in the games that has anything to do with Prime other than the Dark Energon. Hopefully, it will be it's own continuity.

I never said they go directly to Earth. The point of the proposed title I gave is about the journey to it. It wouldn't be much of a journey if the next installment started with them popping out of the wormhole next to Earth, would it? The ultimate goal, though, is to get to that blue sphere rich in energy.

The timeline pretty much goes like this:

WfC

FoC

Exiles

TFP

Transformers: Robots in Disguise (will be released 2015)

Transformers Exodus is pretty much just Transformers WfC in a book so I didn't write it down. :BOT: :BOT: :BOT:

It really isn't that simple.

And you left out a whole lot of other stuff.
