This story got dislodged from it's place in the news lineup sometime around midnight, at least the way my browser sees it. Is that just me, or was the DirecTV thing confirmed as a typo on their end or something?
And for the record, the G2 cartoon did mean a LOT to me back in the mid '90s: namely that Hasbro wasn't going to let the whole franchise drop dead after the next tiny wave of toys, and that I'd forever be more loyal to the comics I'd been collecting for the past 2 years over Sunbow continuity, as I finally got to see 'Autobot Spike', 'Prime Target' and several almost-as-bad early season 2 eps that I'd thankfully managed to miss back when I was 6, ensuring my memories of the G1 'toon were positive. Yes, I also got to see some good later ones I missed too, like 'Search for Alpha Trion' and 'Ghost in the Machine'; sometimes the order and frequency in/with which each of us saw what were otherwise the same stories shaped our vastly different conceptions of them. I still don't see much point in airing these eps on a network still showing all of the G1 'toon, but for those who do remember them fondly, what the heck? As long as it's cheap. And maybe they'll stop after just half a year like they did with Jem.
I'm guessing the G2 broadcast masters are still intact, being 8-12 years younger than the G1 masters which had supposedly degraded by the time Rhino decided to make box sets? For that matter, as I haven't been watching the HUB's midnight showings that regularly, which cuts are they showing? Rhino's, Shout!'s, or some of the original masters that have endured?
