It's always been like this. The prices are higher NOW when the AUD is at parity, or above the USD than they were when the AUD was below 0.70AUD three - five years ago.
The only thing the Government is interested in is investigating why software prices are substantially higher in Australia than the rest of the world. (X-Box, PS & PC games are around $90-$100AUD at the time of release)
And still the Australian retailers still fail to see why so many import online...
As an Aussie Transformer Fan I get a bit dirty on the whole price thing. But I guess as the consumer I can now buy from overseas - but when you add postage you are not much better off!
And it's not just Transformers. Ride on Lawn mowers in the US and Oz... ( cause I need a new one and have been looking) In the US $1600 - in Aus the same one $5500.
Didn't the US and Aust govts sign a fair trade agreement?
My personal view here is Australia is about to have a huge financial re-adjustment. Prices for food, power, houses, fuel... just about everything is going through the roof, wages are not keeping up - its all bad. And what was up with FOC and WFC both getting PC release - but not in Australia! Thank god for Steam!
Man! - I got a little bit worked up there.
