Motto: "Till All Are Pun!"
Here's something Transformers-shaped for the more musically inclined among you: a collaboration between Hasbro and Sony, featuring a number of artists, resulting in Transformers: Roll Out - a music album with tracks inspired by our favourite giant transforming robots! Read more about it below, here, and check out two of the tracks embedded below.

Hasbro Studios and Sony Music Entertainment will release a new album of music entirely inspired by the Transformers franchise including alt-rockers Bush, Mount Holly, MEW and more.

Transformers Roll Out will be released April 15 with pre-order starting Tuesday (Feb. 9). Fittingly, upon its release, limited edition CD and vinyl will be offered exclusively through FYE stores.

"The release of Transformers Roll Out truly demonstrates the pop culture power of the Transformers franchise," Hasbro chief content officer Stephen Davis said in a statement. "With generations of audiences celebrating the brand across television, film, digital entertainment, consumer products and now music, this could not be a more exciting time for Hasbro and the Transformers brand with such a unique project that really delivers on the More Than Meets the Eye brand promise."

Starting Tuesday, as well, the compilation released Mount Holly's "Roll Out" and Crash Kings' "Gigantik" lead singles off the set. Listen to those here with a complete album track list below.

Not bad tracks. But nothing to relate it to, so it feels like one of those soundtracks which has music inspired from the content. I'll probably pass on this.

Y'know what's (also) cool about this? The bands/artists are from all over the place, and they include one of the co-writers of 'Everything Is Awesome' from The Lego Movie.

I think it's cool, anyway...

I think it's good that new stuff is being put out. However, so far I'm not impressed by the released tracks. Gonna wait to hear the rest before I decide, but seeing as how I have never heard of any of these so-called "artists" I'm fairly certain this will be a pass. Nonetheless, good try, Hasbro. Keep 'em coming!

Yeah, it's a good attempt. But honestly, they would have fared better trying to do English versions of some of the Japanese theme songs but updated for today's audience. When companies put stuff like this out, I just feel that it's a money grab to get fans to unnecessarily buy something.

Then again, we do vote with our wallets, so again, this "inspired" set of tracks is an easy pass for me.

I like the two tracks so far. Anything will do compared to hearing more Linkin Park and Imagine Dragons. No offense to those bands but this sounds like an attempt to conjure the spirit of the 1986 movie soundtrack, which I love, if not for nostalgic reasons alone along with Weird Al and Stan Bush's contributions. I can't wait to hear the rest of thid project. :BOT: :CON:

Hasbro and Sony Transformers Album Roll Out New Track Released - Count to Ten, by Mew

Postby Va'al » Sat Mar 19, 2016 2:24 am

Motto: "Till All Are Pun!"
Another track was released from the upcoming Transformers tribute album Roll Out - by Hasbro and Sony - and Nothing but Hope and Passion has a bit of extra info on Mew's Count to Ten. See what they have to say about the track, and check it out for yourselves below!

Sometimes new music by old friends can come in the strangest possible ways. Beloved Danish art rock heroes MEW have shared a brand new piece of music alled Count To Ten – and it was composed for tribute sampler to Transformers. Yes, you read correctly, the famous ‘cars-turn-to-robots’ franchise. The compilation goes by the name Transformers Roll Out and arrives on April 15 via Hasbro Studios and Sony Music RED Associated Labels (RAL) to worship the ‘the global pop-culture Transformers phenomenon’ (according to the press release).

Aside from that, Count To Ten is a wonderful new piece of MEW music, their first one since last year’s album

I like the idea of an album like this, I really do. But the songs I've heard so far...none of them really remind me of Transformers or sound anything TF related to me. I'm pretty music-dumb, so maybe it's me. But as a consumer and a TF fan, I'm probably going to pass on this one.

I think the intention is precisely to bring in to some aspect of the franchise people who might not associate these bands with giant robots at all - I know I don't, and I only knew of MEW and Jameson Burt, who definitely have nothing to do with anything robotic. :D

That, and of course doing a little the other way round, though it'll be harder.

Really diggin "Just a Spark", definitely in line with my style of music. The rest of the songs seem almost too mellow for a transformers inspired album...Modern Man just screams Bowie

Overall it seems like the album has some good hooks that get you singing along fairly quick and it's not like so many modern songs where the hook is the entire song just on repeat ::yuck::

Interesting combination of artists involved, that's for sure, wasn't even aware the Bush was still doing music

Yeah, I'm a big fan of Jameson Burt, and despite Just a Spark deviating from his usual banjo-y stuff (see below), the track is lively, catchy and just a right the amount of heavy to stand out from the album.

That, and Elle Rae's Into the Fire. Yes yes yes.

Hasbro and Sony Transformers 'ROLL OUT' Album - Behind Elle Rae's Into the Fire and Music Video

Postby Va'al » Mon Apr 18, 2016 8:09 am

Motto: "Till All Are Pun!"
After the release of the Hasbro Studios and Sony Music album Roll Out, in which bands were asked to contribute Transformers-inspired music, artist Lisa Harriton - front of the Elle Rae band - spoke to online music magazine Roland for some behind the scenes stuff. Check it out here, and a snippet and the music video for the track embedded below!

What came first, the lyrics or the music?
Lisa: The music actually came first for this one. I was borrowing a baritone guitar from a friend, and I was so inspired by it! I wrote this guitar riff and verse melody but never finished the song. The musical idea was always there in the back of my mind, and I knew it was special for the right situation. When the opportunity came up, to be a part of this special album inspired by one of my favorite childhood toys, I was so excited to put the two together! I brought the idea to my writing partner Joshua Bartholomew, and he was really inspired by it, too. He picked up a bass, and I picked up a guitar, and it all came together pretty quickly.
