I, too, like the look of this thing. Even as a proto, this thing looks good. That non-final green looks pretty sharp on him.
And I think it could even work for a half-decent BW Rampage/Shokaract redeco homage.

The styling on this isn't bad at all (knowing it's prototype colors). BUT I'd so much rather have a Depth Charge like this... or a Sharkticon... or a Seacon set... instead of a funny-styled Megatron.
And agreed... that weapon is silly. Hope it pops off.

ZOMG. Okay, now I'm in... at LEAST for the repaint/retool as Shockaract. (or my OWN repaint as Shockaract.)
Wow. That's spot on. Thanks for the post Sabrblade.

I´m pretty happy about this. I always thought a shark would be a great alt mode for G1 Megatron, it´s menacing, evil looking, yet a bit awkward and completely useless in more than one situation, just like his gun mode. Also, he could still retain his white/grey color scheme.
Being from the same gender but somewhat different, Shockwave would be a barracuda.
So, seeing a Megatron with fish atributes and a barracuda for a fusion cannon is awesome to me.

Unfortunately, BH Shockwave is a pseudo-tank with claws.

This is very disappointing, and please don't make him look like this in the show.

BBTS calls it "Sharkticon Megatron".
Possible hint as to the final color scheme, perhaps?

I think you're echoing what we ALL are hoping... add the new characters (dragons, etc.), but don't monkey with the existing character models for the original lineup. I think I'd give myself a cramp with that much eye rolling.

With these prototype colors, I'm seeing a lot of influence coming from ROTF Megatron in this design.
The fusion cannon looks too separated from his arm in the photo, but it looks like the connecting post can fold up into the cannon's body, and if I'm not mistaken, it looks like there's another grip within the body of the cannon itself (there's a post of lighter plastic visible in the back view of the cannon above the cannon's post, likewise, the main post looks like it's connected via a hinge). If I'm right, they may have designed the cannon to be held in a way that evokes ROTF Megatron's "murder arm".

You were hoping for a non-beast-themed design for a beast-themed toyline?
I was hoping for something similar to Beast Optimus Prime with a robot mode based off of Marauder Megatron's design (mostly with the head and it's BM homage). That's not a stretch. It could've and should've happened.

I was very much thinking Seacons as well. If he transforms into anything even remotely resembling a Seacon than i'll buy him.

I'm holding off judgement until I see a final paintjob. If it's satisfactory, I'll buy it to customize into Galvatron. I'm dying for an in-scale reformatted Megs...

I like the new sculpting on the figure itself, but not sure I get the Seacon look on Megatron. The weapon is a waste of plastic, although, does it look like it converts to a blade weapon of sorts?

Sometimes, this retool makes me hope he comes with a Star Saber. What makes this guy worse is his fusion cannon, which looks too big and could make his ball joint loose.
Off topic, but is his First Edition fusion cannon compatible with the Voyager mold?
