I'll only import AM Ironhide if he appears in the show. If not, then I'll be skipping this mold altogether.

Does that mean I have to go back to my idea of ordering fruitcakes as gifts for some of you guys?

Starscream, Arcee, Terrorcon Cliffjumper, Vehicon, and Megatron are the Deluxes. Optimus Prime and Bulkhead are the Voyagers.

Everything is being released except for Bumblebee (THANK GOD!) and regular Cliffjumper. Because zombies are far cooler. It's identical to the SDCC one, just no fancy box or dark energon shards.

Speaking of Takara Tomy and "First Edition" Megatron... I remember when I first visited the Toys"R"Us in Sunshine City (Ikebukuro) and noticed that he was the only "First Edition" figure that they had for sale.

Besides, if they were to reissue this set as well, I'd be forced to order both that version of Arcee and the EZ version, thus starting a collection of a single character. Kidding. Still satisfied with the AM version.

Going slightly off topic here, but most Japan departmental stores don't stock Transformers. The most common place to go is Yodobashi Bic Camera, I guess it's their equivalent of Walmart or Target.

There's a load of collector shops in Nakano, near Toyko. Went there back in 2010. Scored 2010 Predaking for under $160 US there (is that cheap, forgot the online price back then). If anyone wants my list of shops I can pass it to you..

Actually, what they will do is distract you to the point you are paranoid. And when people finally think you had cracked, Bumblebee swaps out nearly everything you have with its own Bumblebee version - From 2007 to now.

Funny thing is that when I was staying in Ikebukuro for two weeks, I totally blanked out on Nakano. I believe I read up on that place, but I guess I was also too focused on other things. Then again... I also only found a single good find in Akihabara, but was too broke to seriously get it without a second thought.

That would be between late November to December, 2010... Right? Nice months to go to Japan. I made the slight mistake of going to Ikebukuro around February, 2011, due to the weather more than my timing. And I think at that time, Toys"R"Us had the item for around $225 or more. So you got a nice deal. That, you got a better deal than me, as I paid $170 for a "mint" box at TFsource last year.

Well... The Encore sets have been profitable. And they have yet to make a Slag that comes with a red face and white legs. Plus, their last two Encore figures were series accurate Headmasters series characters.

So while I do not see them reissuing 300+ figures, I can see this working in TOMY's favor, and maybe Hasbro's as well if they play it smart.

- G1 Mirage
- G1 Dinobots (debatable, but likely)

And reverse-engineering them is tricky, but especially costly business. So no reissues for these guys.

Aww, not the dinobots! D: What evidence is there to support the original molds of the Dinobots being dead? I've heard the others mentioned before.

Hmm. I have a Slag. Doesn't seem to be a broken mold to me. Although, I can see how it would be a broken mold to some people whom got a faulty copy.

When we say a mold is broken, we mean the mold the toy is cast from is broken. That means it's unusable to make more toys with. Molds can also deteriorate from overuse, which has happened to several.

"Mold" and "toy" are used interchangeably, but are actually two totally different things.

Actually, I need to correct you there. All they need to remake the molds is a scanner to scan the pieces, the software to both create and save the scans, a device to replicate the pieces, and a way to make new molds for mass production. These days, even classrooms have these items at hand. And the only challenge both Hasbro and Takara Tomy face are finding pieces that may still be minty fresh.

However... The first three might be a challenge to obtain, as I have seen little to no KOs, Classics, etc. of them. But the Dinobots... And you gave me a reason to re-add MP-8 Grimlock to my wish list... There are quite a bit of KOs on that set. Which means that both companies can easily confiscate them, disassemble them, and fix any issues the KOs have.

But even if they did, I can only assume that Takara Tomy would make some improvements... While Hasbro does their own thing.

Molds or parts of, rather, have been restored, yes, but they were small ones. Full toys are still expensive as you'd be recreating a toy from scratch, from the design on paper to the new toy. With reissues being made from readily available molds, with no R&D and legal costs (think patents) on top, I don't need to ask how expensive new mold "reissues" would have to be in order to be cost-effective.

I heard of Reissues. What made me bring up the topic was i had a dream my aunt had a loose Sideswipe from G1. I still have not a single G1 figure maybe when i get some money

Quite honestly... The only toys TOMY has been creating both by hand and from scratch are the Masterpiece lines. The rest... I would be surprised if they are not using computers, as the only issue is time and not money. (And what is sad is that there are talks that it can help make illegal firearms.) So, either way, their profit margin will always be greater than the costs.

Besides... Back on topic, Ironhide is one of those characters I am assuming is being made in one of Hasbro's factories.

I can understand. I started off late, missing out on "Encore" Convoy, "Henkei!" Skyfire, and a few other pieces. So my problem is that I can either pay premium and pray that they are slightly better than C-9 or just change my collection-based rules. But that is a different story.

However... I am assuming that box condition, much less if it is a reissue or not, are not an issue for you. Because if that is true, here you go: http://tfsource.com/products/view/product_id/159/

It is the "Encore" version of "G1" Ironhide. They also have Ratchet for sale, but I focused more on this one for you. Just know that unlike Ratchet, they only have this in a C-9 box... Which means that there will be some dents and dings on the box.

Either way... I assume that the "Arms Micron" version of Ironhide will cost as much as this Ironhide. So either way, you now have an option.
