Hi. I posted this on TFW but I was recommended to post it here too so here I am!
This is my first post like this so I hope you like it. :) I am from the UK which is where this was brought from.
I've taken lots of pictures of Transformers Prime RID Cliffjumper for your viewing.
The first bunch shows him next to the First Edition version so you can see how they compare. The second set I will post will show his scale next to some other bots. I'll try and leave appropriate observations too :)

No matter which Cliffjumper you get you will enjoy it! :D They are both really nice figures. Neither are perfect. Hopefully there will be another that combines them into an ultimate version.

IMG #1. He is considerably shorter than the FE version, but that one has large shoulders. I would say the RID version comes up to about the middle of the FE versions face.
The RID is only red and silver/gray now. No black for the body except the fake windscreen.
Cliff1.jpg

IMG #2. The back kibble hangs lower on him, if I did it right. You can raise it up a little if you ignore where it locks in. They do both have fake red wheels on the legs. The RID version though is more noticeable.
Also the back of his legs is hollow. Unlike the FE one which is covered by flaps.
Cliff2.jpg

IMG #3. I would say the kibble hangs out a bit farther on the RID one. But it fits with the overall style so doesn't detract.
The sides of his arms also have a big gap on it where the wheel arch is. The windows fold down slightly over his arms but really should go down further.
The doors clip together in a U style clip which is ok but can slip a little. The front grill folds down above his elbows.
Image

IMG #4-5. The car mode is only slightly shorter, same width but not as high.
So when next to Bumblebee it looks like a whole different scale. Somewhere between Deluxe and Scout. Not that all scales match in a line.
Cliff4.jpg

It transforms much simpler than the First Edition and clips together much tighter with less obvious lines. There is no gap between the hood and the windshield now also. I didn't do a good job of transforming the FE and forgot to flip some windows up.
Cliff5.jpg

The windows are now very clear and there are no breaks in the side windows like the FE. What annoys me is behind the windshield. There is all these connector pieces I can't see much of a purpose for except to hold it on?

IMG #6. You can see the fake chest and the head below.
Cliff6.jpg

IMG #7. The fronts are very similar but the RID lights and horn are different colours.
Cliff7.jpg

IMG #8. Same with the back but no exhaust pipes. Plus added black.
Cliff8.jpg

IMG #9-10. There are holes on the top and sides for the weapon. Shame they couldn't have used the trick that DOTM Roadbuster does. Also there is no Autobot symbol anywhere on him.
For some reason I didn't take a pic of his robot mode with the weapon but there are a few of those around.

I hope this review helps people in decided which they prefer or looking forward to it.
Enjoy the images as I've edited them to try and be as clear as possible.

Some quick robot details:
He has an automorph feature. When you pull his shoulders down his head pops up from it's slight hiding place.
The wrists are on a ball joint but the movement is limited. They can only be moved down or left/right. The doors get in the way of everything else.
The feet are on a ball joint and have very good movement. He stands nice and sturdy.
He has a waist swivel that works well.
Legs are on a ball joint. Knees aren't and only go backwards.
Shoulders are on a ball joint but the wheels can get in the way. There is a swivel joint below the shoulders.
Elbows only bend up as far as the long arms allow.
The head will only move side to side and behind it are the cogs for the automorph. It does have light piping which should be good for the Terrorcon version

Here are a bunch of images I took with many things to try and show off his scale and size.
I will try and answer some questions where I can but as these threads can move so fast it gets tricky! Enjoy! 8)

With Transformers Prime "Robots in Disguise" released and the remaining "First Edition" figures beyond wave in limbo many of you may be asking yourselves, "Do I track down or import FE Cliffjumper, or just wait for the RID version?"

Seibertron.com member Azrail has posted a pictorial review comparing the two version of the ill fated Autobot. Check out the side by side comparisons below.

Sitting next to each other the RID one practically looks like a knockoff to me. :BANG_HEAD:

Wow, compared to their previous 'First Edition' line versions all of these toys suck skidplate, Cliffjumper especially. Hollow legs, kibble, tiny, and Hasbro will probably still want $12 for him.

Seriously, who are the idiots at Hasbro and Takara who keep dissing the good toys and keep telling the designers to make more gimmicky, kibbly figures instead?!

I blame the marketing division.

Edit: saw above figure comparisons.

SCRAP! That thing is smaller in vehicle form than Deluxe Rodimus, and I already felt cheated his small size!

This is bad Hasbro, real bad. I had hope for this line when I first saw the 'First Edition' line images, but this is terrible.

O_o... YES! Exactly! That's a perfect way to explain it.

I still don't get why they wouldn't just reuse the FE molds. It can't be cheap to produce new ones, and they barely got any use out of the FE ones.

Gawd almighty, that RID CJ looks fugly as hell

Glad I shelled out for Takara FE all the way, so far.

I really like the look of Wheeljack (RID), I may pick that up, along with a few vehicons, but I'd even hold back on those if I knew there was a FE Takara Wheeljack soon.....fingers crossed!

These RID figs seem to be what DOTM Deluxes are to ROTF Deluxes... Lacking.

Why did Hasbro/Takara waste their resources to create two different molds of the same characters instead of producing more characters ??? what a complete waste of effort and plastic. And then they complain when 3rd parties give fans the characters they really want. :BANG_HEAD:

Thanks Azrail! I've been waiting for comparison shots and these were perfect.

The only things that I preferred about RiD was his not-so-blocky lower legs and the fact his headlights were more prominent on his torso, but now I know its a fake chest (YOU SUCK!) and the legs are hollow the choice seems pretty clear. FE FTW!!!

P.S. Can't believe this thing is smaller than Backfiery.

P.P.S. I'll give it this to its credit, it's not often you see a red gorilla with horns. (The last time was when I went on that bachelor party to the zoo.)

Glad I ordered the FE Voyagers and Cliffjumper from eBay last week. I paid almost twice what I'd have paid if these had hit U.S. retail. However, judging from these pictures illustrating just how bad RID CJ is compared to FE CJ, then I can see the FE prices going up in the near future.

I like the FE one better, but since Hasbro has decided to make it nearly impossible to find them in the U.S., I guess I don't have a choice. :BANG_HEAD:

Thanks for the comparison.

I ordered the last Takara FE Cliffjumper from BBTS based on this review.

I like the stockiness of the RID mold. (Oh great, now all my friends will think I'm refering to the original RID) But I also like the proportions on the FE version.

If they scaled the RID one to a larger size, I'd buy it.

Oh my brain hurts!! :BOOM:

I was wondering the exact same thing. But perhaps they were forced to change the line after the FEs were designed, or maybe the designers went above and beyond what Hasbro wanted. Then they saw how good the designs were and went "You know what, these are really good and you guys worked hard on them. Even though it's not what we planned for the line, we'll try to get them a release anyway." I guess if you think about it like that, we should be really grateful they still released them anyway. At least, those who were lucky enough to get the First Editions...

As for the comparison, even though RID is more screen accurate in some ways, I'm glad I managed to pick up the FE. He really benefits from the black in robot mode and the tinted windows in vehicle mode, and of course the more complex transformation. RID also suffers from some pretty bad monkey arms, whereas the FE one is not as bad.

A lot of folks are complaining about the scale and yes, it does suck that Hasbro/Takara are giving us less toy and not lowering the cost accordingly but that's just how it goes folks. We should feel lucky they haven't pulled this on us sooner. Myself, I like how it keeps the figures in more of the same general "feel" as their G1 counterparts. The mini-cars were always supposed to be smaller and having this guy close to the same size as Windcharger adds to the G1 feel. I'm only going to be keeping this guy in his vehicle mode anyways since I love the alt mode they chose for him and absolutely despise that Primus-forsaken, butt-ugly red gorilla like excuse for a robot mode.
He certainly won't be a replacement for my Classics CJ and I can't say as I care for the whole horns on the hood gimmick but I like the classic muscle car styling enough that I can handle dropping just over $10.00 for this thing. I may actually buy 2 just because that alt-mode is begging to have a more traditional muscle car paint app. either in black or deep metal-flake blue just to do it some justice.

Thanks a lot :D Glad everyone liked it. I've not done many reviews properly like this, just normally comments somewhere. But then again how often does the UK get a chance to!

As much as it has it's flaws and the FE version is better in a lot of ways. I'm really warming to this guy. So much so that I may keep 1 for myself instead of trading it. Once you have it and start playing it's still a really great figure. 8)

So all I'm saying is if you don't have a Cliffjumper and can get this at a good price then it's worth looking at. The few cool things can outweigh some of the bad things.. But also get a First Edition too :KREMZEEK:

Thanks so much for the comparison! I had originally been planning to get the RID version, since I thought the proportions looked better, but now I can see that compared with the FE one, it looks rather crappy and tiny. I also greatly prefer the flip-out guns of the FE one to the hammer thing of the RID one.
