//Long awaited Chapter 3! Where everything begins to come together...
Chapter III
Sprokit lurched forward as the station rocked back and forth after a blast hit the Starbase. This made the Energon in both of the Mechs rush faster. Sprokit punched button next to the door to the elevator, causing the door to creak open slowly. Both of them stepped into the elevator quickly and rested against the back wall.
"Remind me again why we're heading down to the Cargo Hold?" Fireup said as he pressed the lowest level button.
"We're going because Airbrake, someone who is a much higher rank than us, told us to go to the Cargo Hold." Sprokit said with a sigh.
"Oh, so your 'Girlfriend' told you to do it!" Fireup said sarcastically.
"She's not my 'Girlfriend'," Sprokit said irritably, "She's an acquaintance."
Fireup chuckled and nodded to the door as it creaked open to reveal a large room filled with many crates, and other cargo. Sprokit walked to one of the crates and opened it in hopes of weapons, no such luck, it was simply piping and other supplies.
"Hey Fireup, open some of those crates and get us some weapons, will ya?" Sprokit shouted to Fireup.
"Whatever." Fireup mumbled back as he began to rip open boxes and crates and toss off lids.
Sprokit opened a crate to reveal two Battle Rifles, along with four clips each. Sprokit smiled as he grabbed one and slapped a clip inside and cocked it, and did the same with the other one. The ripping of crates stopped oddly, and a sharp gasp of fear filled the air.
"Sprokit...!" Fireup said with fear in his voice.
"What?" Sprokit asked as he grabbed the two guns and the six clips and jogged over to the frightened Fireup.
Fireup stuck out his arm to block Sprokit from getting any closer, and for good reason too. Sprokit's optics widened at the frightening sight of the one thing that gave the Decepticons the upper edge: Dark Energon.
"We gotta warn everyone!" Fireup said as he began to run to the elevator.
Sprokit caught him by his arm and pulled him back away from the elevator and said, "We
can't tell
anyone what we have just seen!"
"Why? What do you mean?" Fireup said questioning Sprokit's reasoning.
"If Autobot High Command found out that we looked at something Top Secret," Sprokit said direly as he motioned at the lid which plainly stated "Top Secret, do not open" in red ink, "If they found out, they would send assassins to
kill us for the security risk, understand?"
Sprokit slammed the lid back onto the corresponding crate, and shoved the Rifle into Fireup's hands and said, "There are only three more clips that aren't already loaded, use them well."
Fireup nodded as he clutched it tighter as he glanced at the crate which held the Dark Energon. Suddenly, The elevator began to open, slowly, as usual. The Mechs enclosed in the elevator yelled out, "Hey you! Identify yourselves!"
"We don't-" Fireup whispered to Sprokit, but was cut off.
"Uh, this is Overenergizer, and, uh, I'm Fraxured..." Sprokit lied to them with an odd tone.
"Huh, well thats funny, 'cause I'm Fraxured!" One of them revealed himself as Fraxured, "Attack!!"
Lasers filled the air and Sprokit and Fireup narrowly dodged them, and dove for cover. Sprokit leaned out to the side of his crate and fired the Battle Rifle at the two Decepticons, who spun for cover behind the door of the elevator. Sprokit glanced to his right where Fireup was firing his Rifle over the top of the crate he was resting on, and they both ducked under their cover as the Decepticons spun out and fired their own weapons; with different weapons, and results. One fired a large Mortar Launcher which narrowly missed Sprokit's head, destroying a crate behind him. The other one came out with a large Gatling-gun like weapon and began to spray small cones into the air, and began to obliterate crates and other supplies.
Sprokit opened the crate on its side to reveal three grenades, among other supplies that didn't apply to the situation, so he only grabbed the grenades, pulled the pin of one with his teeth, and tossed it in the elevator.
"Eh?" One of them said clueless of the significance of the grenade at their feet.
An explosion from the grenade instantly killed the mechs standing in the elevator, sending shrapnel everywhere. Once things settled down, Sprokit stood up and walked to the elevator to examine the bodies, they were dead, both of them.
"Uh... Sprokit...?" Fireup said rather worriedly.
"What? Are you hurt?" Sprokit said as he jogged over, concerned for his friend.
"Worse," Fireup said looking up from his crate, "The Dark Energon, one of the blasts must have hit the crate, and the Energon Line looks ruptured too, my guess, it fell in."
Sure enough, Sprokit looked in the line, and he could make out spires of purple beginning to peak out from the purpling Energon.
"This is so not good," Sprokit said as he jogged to the elevator, but was cut short, the grenade he tossed damaged it, rendering it useless, "Nor is this! This slaggin' thing is broken!"
Fireup looked at him with worried optics, and Sprokit could tell what he was saying with the look on his face-plate: If they didn't get out of there soon, the spires of Dark Energon would overtake the whole room, including them.
