Transformers The Movie Vinyl Soundtrack 1986

I have come into possession of one copy of the vinyl soundtrack to the 1986 Transformers movie. I am in the dark about the value of this item.

The cover sleeve is slightly bent and creased in places but is generally in fair condition, as for the disc itself it is in excellent condition and is not showing any signs of wear.

So in short, does anybody have an idea of how much this item could be worth?

You can check to see how much it's worth by glancing at Ebay... but if you really want to know what it is worth I'd go to barnes and noble and see if they have a book on vintage records. It's kind of nice since you dont' actually have to buy the book to look through it. :)

That's so cool that you have that record... I kind of wish that I had bought it when it first came out. I just bought the newly released CD of the original soundtrack.

There is a price guide for robot toys and stuff related to them. It does have transformers in it and I've seen it on Amazon. I don't remember the name tho, sorry.

Your Soundtrack

I know this is a really long shot, but do you still have this soundtrack and are willing to sell? My fiancee is a life-long transformers fan (even has the autobot tattoo) and also happens to be a vinyl DJ. Owning this record would be very special to him. I am happy to pay you fair market value.

Good lord, you must have dug deep to find this post. I'm afraid the soundtrack is absolutely not for sale. It means far too much to me and was given to me by someone very very special who in turn had it left to her by someone equally special.

:-( Sorry!

Well, so as to not let a thread go to waste, how's the audio quality sound? Have you actually ever got to play it?

I did play it once, since I'm lucky enough to still own a turntable, as ancient as it is. There are no skips and scratches on the disc and every track plays through completely, as far as I recall. It does have the same background hiss that all LPs seem to have by nature. I don't know if it's the quality of the system I have that causes it or not, but there it is. That's about it really, it's more of a display piece now than anything else since I have the soundtrack in digital format for everyday listening.

It's all about the quality of the vinyl player. The hiss goes away with higher quality players.

I have a vinyl copy of the soundtrack too. I've never played it though.

Wow.. What a necrobump...

I still have my album in storage. I played it once, made a recording (the thing to do back in the day with vinyl) and put it away.

The 25th anniversary is in August and we hear nothing about a small celebration like they did for the 20th anniversary

I was offered $125 for my sealed vinyls 1985 soundtrack at botcon 2008. I was walking around with it just to see if people would come up to me and beg. They did.

It's worth some money to the right person, but in the real world it's not worth much. Vinyls are definitely collectible though so I would just hold onto it till some crazy MF offers your $250

Thanks. Even though I'm not selling it anymore, it's nice to get an answer to the very first question I asked on the forums.

Four years later though. :P

Yeah, I was outbid on ebay 12 months ago on a copy of this. I pulled out after the bids hit over $100! I think it sold for $130. It was in immaculate condition and came from a library in the UK.

So if it helps, you now have a couple of examples of the record selling for over $120.
