Transforming Collections Book Kickstarter Project

I've launched a Kickstarter project to create a book about third party Transformers toys. Please take a moment to look at the project and check my stretch goals.

At the rate 3rd party stuff comes out, any book would be out-dated in 6 months or less. I would suggest you make a website decicated to 3rd party figures instead of a book. Kind of like a TF Wiki for all 3rd party stuff.

I got to agree with X on this 1. The 3rd party scene expands daily, I would say any book would be inaccurate within a week or so at the current rate 3rd party stuff is announced or released. A ever expanding website though, "An un-official 3rd party database" would be epic and would be a great tool for ebayers who are unsure about products. Heck you could even throw some of the knockoffs(KO) on there as well..

Thanks for the feedback, guys. A site would be neat, but my goal here is to create an introductory book for people unfamiliar with third party pieces and for my own shelf. For all of the third party toys coming out I still frequently chat with people who don't even know these exist.

If this goes well then I'll think about the suggestion for a site.

I see your vision. It's just in the age of the internet, not alot of collectors want to spend money on a book. It takes up shelf space and costs money that could be used for more figures.

I completely understand. I have just always been a fan of print; I understand why magazines are dying but I still wish they could exist forever. But I also collect high-end limited editions of books so I know I am not the norm these days when it comes to print.

Fortunately, it looks like there may be enough interest in the project that it succeeds. (Which means I will get another book for my shelves.)

Nice idea dude. You could counter things getting out of date by producing 'volume 1' which could be everything 3rd party from the first accessories to now, and then revisiting the scene a year or so later with Volume 2. I like books like that. I have a nice Starwars one which I like to flick though every now and then.

Heck, I'd love to see a definitive 'classicsverse' guide which shows you all the modern options you have for the G1 characters (official and unofficial). Springer would have a few. Maybe go down that road 8)
