There's Diaclone involved...
There are Italians involved....
And a sneaking suspicion of authentic Takara toys and Transformers details being copied.....
But no, this is not an article about a certain $3000 Black Tracks fraud, it's Part 1 of our look at Marco "Puffmarko" Salerno's theory that Italian distributor GiG were using the phrase "Trasformer" before Hasbro started using "Transformers".

Nice article.
I always assumed Autobot was just an alternate Hasbro (or Bob Budiansky maybe) came up with because Carrobo is kinda awkward with those two R's there where the source words meet. This interim seeming Autorobot raises many questions.

Living in the Netherlands, I really enjoy the European part of Transformers history. It's sometimes painful to think of all the amazing Gig and Joustra items that must have hit retail in the '80s and early '90s while I was blisfully unaware and just asking my parents for the 'proper Transformers' brand for my birthdays and Christmas. Nowadays, I'm a proud owner of a Gig Galaxy Shuttle and both the Gig red Countach 500s (Sideswipe) and the Gig yellow Super Countach 500s (Sunstreaker), but those are relatively recent and expensive purchases.
Your article once again offers some very interesting (and sometimes complicated, but very well explained) Transformers history. Thanks once again to you (and all your contacts!) for taking the time to investigate this and write this up for everyone to read.
I'm so meta, even this acronym

I love these articles. Who would have thought that putting out some toys would involve such international drama?
Weird request here. If anyone has an extra Classics Skywarp or Dirge missile please PM me. I need one.
