>_< Ultras, firts in the line and it's these two? Seriously? This money and size class could've gone to Blackout and Bonecrusher!

These look cool. But I'm done with the Movie line for now. I'm saving everything for Animated. But this is kind of a steal, because wasn't Jetfire an Ultra?

First, let me say that it is a very smart business move by Hasbro to "reissue" popular molds from previous lines. This has been covered in every thread that talks about a new repaint, but these repaints serve at least three purposes:

1. Fills a gap created by the delay in getting the "Animated" figures to market. They can put whatever spin they want on it, but there is no way that they wanted such a gap between the launch of their new show and the arrival of the toys for the kiddies to buy. Something needs to be on the shelves for them to buy. The quickest way to get something to market would be to make more of something you've already got - hence the repaints.

2. A lot of folks have returned to collecting TFs with the Classics and movie lines (I'm one of them). While I was able to get some cool CYB figures that were still out when Classics hit the shelves, there were many that I missed out on. This gives folks like me a chance to get molds that are often praised (Landmine comes to mind).

3. Any of these figures that sell will have a larger profit margin than any new molds. This is because you eliminate the big expenses - R&D, testing, quality control. The more money Hasbro makes, the more willing they are going to be to pump those funds into more new stuff down the line. How is that a bad thing???

So, bring on the repaints! As has been said before, if you don't like 'em, don't buy 'em.

The repaints are getting a little old, but it will be nice to get another chance to pick up these molds.

I may be being a party pooper but doesn't the choice of such a bland color scheme make anyone suspicious that this rumor may be based on photoshopped pics? Hasbro does not usually do repaints in such a bland manner. I will admit the bland color scheme is certainly more realistic but it's not Hasbro's usual MO when it comes to repaints. :-?

This is actually cool news for me, since I never did pick up a Cybertron Jetfire even though I kind of wanted to.

Well, I don't like them, so I'm not picking them up.

Actually Hasbro has done so in past. Besides, how would you explain the mug shots then? For something to be photoshopped something has to be used as an example, and I don't recall seeing head shots like those anywhere.

I keep seeing people say that these molds in their original colors are too expensive.

What prices are you all encountering for these toys?

Wing Saber, around $50/$60. Jetfire/Skyshadow can still be gotten for close to retail. I paid about $35 for my Jetfire, shipped!

Ultra class is a $30 price point, right?

$26, but close enough.

Funny that price about Wing Saber. He's totally not worth it.

actually, someone can make something original in photoshop if they have the talent and time. so it is quite possible that those mug shots could have been made. only time will tell if these boys are real

The guy that posted them isn't known for posting up mistakes or misinformation.

I'll give him that.

I had recently seen the price on Cybertron Sky Shadow on ebay jump to $75+. BBTS, which is sold out of them, wanted around $80.
CD Scattorshot is in the 75 dollar range now too. Makes me wish I
hadn't passed it up when it was $13 clearance. Wing saber is in
the $50+ range and has been there for some time.

Good thing I know a guy who has all of this stuff at his house MISB. That's where I got most of my Cybertron stuff.

You're right CP, Wing Saber isn't much worth it on his own. If it weren't for the sonic wing mode ... the fig would probably not be worth as much.

Then again, stranger things have happened ...

heck, now i'm REALLY glad i got mine way below those evil prices. (which might mean that my Cybertron versions WILL be more valuable in the future, yes?)

I think that all of these repaints of the Cybertron figures is a testament to just how good that line was.

Ahhh, well with the release of pics of the back of their boxes I'm now eating some delectible crow about my possible photoshop comment. It appears the bland color scheme is concentrated in alt mode for the sake of realism. Apparently bot mode is where the colors come into play. (Sarcastically) I'ts soooo much fun being wrong.

Anyways, I will most likely pass on Jetstorm since I have Jetfire & Sky Shadow. 3 of the same mold just seems a little excessive. However, I will likely grab Wingblade since Wing Saber was released only once.

For the record though, I think these colors are actually pretty cool! :D

I can't be the only person who is getting tired of store exclusives. It makes them hard to find and they have a much likelier chance at becoming scalper bait. Apparently most of the stores where I live don't get their exclusives in.
