Halfway through the podcast and, CP, you mentioned canceling your Tokyo Show Prime. Curious to hear your reasoning as I've been heavily debating this figure myself so your insight could be helpful. Me, I think it looks great, better than the Classics version, but not sure the moderate upgrade is worth another $100. So I'm trying to be sold one way or the other...

Sunstreaker will NOT be a repaint of Sideswipe and here is why:

Red Alert wouldn't be the next masterpiece from this mold if that was so.

Sunstreaker will either get his own mold, or will just never be released

I think the US Nemesis Prime looks better or at least more interesting.

I pre-ordered the Tokyo Show version because I thought it had red Autobot symbols and was a semi-official Classics Nucelon Quest Prime. Seeing as it's not...it got canceled.

(I really do think the US version is more interesting. The Japanese chrome is nice but the blue is cooler than the usual gray the TS one is sporting.)

I like the red tinted windows way better and think I like the black legs better. I'm just not sure I like them $100 better...and I'm getting real sick of buying the same figures over and over that serve the same purpose in my collection. The ironic thing is I'm considering skipping this Prime in favor of Hegemon...to replace United Megatron in my Classics collection.

One of the things you ask during the podcast is "Where is the Galvatron? Where is the armored Ultra Magnus?"

The answer is "Coming." If we look at the trends thus far:

MP1 = Cash Cow Prime. We got Regular, White(Magnus), Sleep, Black, Gold, With trailer, Last Version. 7 versions from one mold (8 including the US version)

MP3 = Cash Cow Seeker. Acid, Skywarp, US Skywarp, US Thundercracker (upcoming), US Starscream, Ghostscream, Modified Starscream, Sunstorm, Heweystorm, Deweyscream, Louiecracker... I joke on the last three, but how many of us have 2 or more versions of this mold? I have 5 and will soon have Sun, too. (ouch...)

MP5 = Megatron. Not a cash cow. The Primes and Starscream paid for Megatron, made the dream of having a fully-articulated Megs come true. One one version ever made. Profitabe for Takara? Probably not to cost of production/development.

MP 8 = Grimlock. 3 versions: 8, Shiny King Grimlock, US Grimlock. Cash cow? I think this made them some good cash. Definitely got their investment back.

MP 9 = Rodimus. 4 versions: Takara, US Hot Rod, Blackimus, Takara corrected. Cash cow? Not with the production problems it faced. When it first came out, yeah, it got cash. Did it make enough to justify its production/development? Honestly? I doubt it.

MP 10 = New Prime. Let's face it: This will be a cash cow. It's already sold well, and the remake options are quite high. Possibly even into a development of an armored Ultra Magnus.

MP 12 = Lambor. Cash cow. Period. Lambor, Red Alert, Tigertracks, Black police car guy. G2 Sideswipe =P~ Yeah. This will sell well, especially at a reduced price point. From this, they will set aside P/D of Sunstreaker/ another bot that will be limited in production capability - maybe Skids, Trailbreaker, etc.

MP 13 = Soundwave. 2 versions: Wave and Blaster. Not a huge list of options, but then think about where his cash bovinity comes into play: Cassettes! Very well played Takara. Golden Goose potential.

SO if the past is any indication, T/T makes a couple cash cows to enable the creation of more specialized molds. I don't doubt that some of these really specialized molds are coming. It's just a matter of time and patience, especially as they're really turning up the nozzle with the creation of them. As you said, 4 or 5 MP's in the next six-10 months! That's a whole lot, which opens the door to a whole slew of customer investment, especially as TT doesn't have to frustrate themselves into madness trying to figure out how Bayformer designs can be worked into functional toys. Instead, they can use their ingenuity to give us the ones we're begging for.

And no, they won't give us Sunstreaker from Lambor's mold.

I can't believe you guys don't like they Wheelie. That mold is amazing, and it might be unexpected, but it actually works well as Wheelie. Plus, he has a sling shot.

It doesn't cost more to preorder a game. You get the game for the same price ($60) plus free DLC.

I'm also going to say that Sideswipe wont be repainted into Sunstreaker, given Sunstreaker's history and Takara's recent claim that the Masterpiece line will be dedicated to accuracy in both scale and detail for the foregoing future.

Lol, that "Daddy's Girl" mosaic. That guy showed up on another site I moderate and it got him banned, along with other racy fiction. Didn't save it though, sorry guys.

Some constructive criticism here:

Please stop with the "Once you go black..." joke. It's not a funny joke, and it's definitely not funny the 20th time.

Were any of these the Japanese Schwarzenegger commercial?

Also, Ryan, here's a link to the official Japanese DVD release (not a bootleg :D ) of Transformers: Zone - http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=COBC-4295

Though, the UK or Australian DVDs that have English subtitles may be easier to find ;)

It came through alright via iTunes.

That wasn't the Arnold commercial I remember. He was on a boat paddling or something like that.

As for Zone, didn't realize that it finally came out in Japan on DVD. The UK and Australian versions of Zone, which I own, are from the same VHS/DVD bootleg copies that I had which had English subtitles. The quality of the video is terrible. I would love to see Zone in perfect quality, without subtitles. Here's hoping!

There's one like that further in the video.

But if that one isn't it either, then... I guess we'll have to keep looking.

Same here. It's just a matter of finding a copy on the secondary market since it's out of print. :-(

Really wish Toei would have given Zone to Shout! Factory so we could have a decent quality version.

Thanks for sharing!

And that's nowhere near as bad as I thought it was going to be. Decent art too and it's a cute little story. It probably would have been received better with a different title and the panel with Powerglide and Moonracer re-drawn to suggest something that would've been rebellious for a Transformer without any sexual connotations.

@Saberblade ... I take that back, didn't realize that was a video montage. It is indeed the commercial I remember, which starts around 01:29.

Ha, cool! And, you weren't kidding. That is a very bizarre commercial. As are these other ones. Wonder how Arnold got into the Japanese advertisement business.

It just shows how super popular and well known he was around the world back in the 80s and 90s during the height of his career.

Wonder if he also knows Japanese (or if his lines were just dubbed over).

WHAAAAAA? Bob Saget on a Snowcat could beat up even Chuck Norris! You forget, Bob Saget has the ultimate weapon...he could just bust out some of his America's (un)Funniest Videos jokes and they would either run away, kill themselves, or die from lame overload.

Hey guys love the show. I was wandering if you knew that the file won't download from the iTunes store to an iPhone right now. Seems like the new ep never loads at first but I don't recall it being like this for days. Anyway keep up the great work, I left you 5 stars on the review;)
