Just got back from MCM Comic Con at the London Excel Centre. Definitely more TF figures than at the MCM Comic Con earlier on this year. Leader class Jetfire is a popular boy, saw him pretty much everywhere!

One stall was selling a lot of second hand stuff, which according to the guy on the stall was his mate's stuff that he's trying to shift for him. A mixed bag really of Movieverse, Energon, Armada, Binaltech and G1 reissues.

Saw a stall selling reissues of gestalt figures like Devastator and Menasor. Another stall had a few MP lines - Prowl, Wheeljack, Sideswipe and Soundblaster. Can't remember the prices, but nothing that you can't find elsewhere.

One stall had a good few Generations toys at decent prices. Passed on Scoop for £13 but may go back for him tomorrow depending if I have cash remaining. It had the TRU Grimlock for £85 (pointless, as you can still get it for £70 at TRU), the MP-08X King Grimlock for £170, Year of the Horse Optimus for £120 and what looked like the latest reissue of Masterpiece Optimus for £145. This is all off the top of my head, and my head was certainly swimming due to it being very busy and having to look after kids, so I do apologise if the info is a little off.

Either way, a good day out. Didn't see anything that screamed "Buy me now!!!", but I will probably try to haggle on Jetfire and Whirl tomorrow. Prices tend to go down on Sunday as it's the last day and they want to shift some of it.

Argh, wish I could go to a con like that, plus those prices seem a mixed bag though £13 for scoop isn't too bad considering its an import toy

I didn't pick up Scoop in the end as I ran out of money and he isn't high up on my list. I did, however, pick up Leader Jetfire and Voyager Whirl for £70. Haven't had a chance to open them yet.

On a seperate note, I was doing a bit of random browsing and discovered that a site called ID Toys (that has previously been known as both Toyz and Gamez and Toyspin) are advertising some of the new figures such as the Leader Megatrons, new Leader figures, and Combiner Wars stuff. Now I don't know how reliable that site is, never done business with them before, but I do wonder if we'll start seeing those figures up for pre-order soon on Kapow, Omegalock and Masterforce.

True to their usual bullshit form, today, october 30th was due to be the release date on forbidden planet for Swerve and Skids. Just logged on to their site to find that their release dates have been pushed back to JANUARY. Not so much as an email to inform me of the delay. Stay classy FP.

Not surprised, mate. I've cancelled any pre-orders I had with FP. I'm solely ordering through Kapow, Omegalock and Masterforce now as, despite being more expensive, they provide much better customer service and I've always had good experiences with them.

This isnt a sighting but it is a UK specific question so here goes.

Im looking for a decent looking wall display unit. Preforably with glass front/doors to keep the dust out. Something I can put my Masterpiece figures in, adjustable shelves would be handy so MP 10 size figures can go in along with the recent smaller cars.

So far I have found these at Ikea but wondered if anyone out there knew of anything similar.

I have 2 possible wall mounting areas, one which is square and one which is long so would fit a long but not very tall unit.

Thanks.

My old boss at the toy shop had a few of the Ikea ones, they did the job but they had problems, on one of them the door wouldn't close properly and on a different one, a shelf was extremely loose, the slightest tap would knock it loose. Which was incredibly annoying when trying to set up displays.

Thanks for the info. :)

Im always sceptical of the quality of stuff from Ikea but I suppose they can be returned or replaced if defective.

I am still a big fan of Detolf from Ikea, though you can get the basic Billy bookshelf, add more shelves and even a glass door on it!

I like Detolf but there I need wall mounted as I have no available floor space. Going to check Billy shelves out. Thanks.

In my bedroom I've got an IKEA Besta unit which I'm using to store my figures above my TV. It's basically a TV bench flanked by 2 high standing wardrobes (nearly 2 metres tall), with a Besta 120x64x40cm cabinet above the TV. I had to do a bit of DIY to drill it all together and to the wall, but it wasn't hard.

The cabinet might be of interest to you as you can adjust the shelving size get glass door frames. I've got 1 shelf on each side half way up giving me 4 shelves for storage. You can fit Leader class figures easily and MP Optimus fits. FoC Bruticus just about fits but I do have to make him squat slightly, which makes him look like he's in the middle of squeezing one out on whichever unfortunate Autobot happens to be underneath!

This thread is just too depressing at the moment. Where's all the later AOE waves gone Hasbro? or the Generations line, where are they?

Typical Hasbro UK.

I still try to buy at UK retail as often as possible. Losing sales on the franchise is only going to hurt the UK distribution sitiation in the long run. I mean if they can only sell generations to the collectors, what happens when tye collects go elsewhere?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not happy about the situation. My comment was looking at it as a fact. It seems though that Hasbro don't consider Europe that important as a market. We've come a long way from when we got Overlord straight from Japan and even re-tools of the Lio Kaiser team as the rescue force.

I gotta admit, the UK figure situation is depressing me.

I used to make a point of scouting the local shops on a near weekly basis. I pick up a lot of figures at Sainsburys because my local always carried a good selection of the most recent releases. Most of my classics and Prime figures came from either Gravesend or Crayford.

John Lewis in Bluewater also used to be great, I only ever saw Sharkticon Megatron there or at Sainsburys as Toys R us never seemed to receive him.

Don't get me wrong Toys R Us still seems to have the best range of toys, but unless you are really lucky, there is no guarantee that you will actually ever find something you want among all the shelf warmers. I still fondly remember the fateful day that I popped into Toys R Us Chatham and found a complete set of the current wave of Generations AND Reveal the Shield figures in one go (my wallet and my wife did not appreciate the 6 - 8 figure haul: Kup, Scourge, Wrek Gar, Perceptor, Tracks and Jazz I believe, but I could be wrong - I think Blur as well, maybe even Darkmount... it was like Christmas!)

The current spate of Generations figures barely making it over here, Toys R Us has been woeful with getting them on shelves. The AoE line largely disinterests me, even the Generations lines have lost their appeal, all I really want is Hound, Lockdown and Drift, maybe Snarl and Slog... Ok I will probably get most of them if I see them.

Then there was the Masterpiece Prowl disappointment recently. I mean it's great the Grimlock got his reissue AND the price drop but I really want to see more of the Masterpieces brought over here. Not just the Year of the Whatever repaints that seem to shelf warm due to their ridiculous price either. Sunstorm would have been nice, or Thundercracker...

Anyway this is turning into a n essay rather than a short rant.

In short, as it stands I no longer have the time, the money or the patience to bimble around my local shops to find figures when I know full well they will only have one step changers and the other lines I don't want to buy. I WANT to support the UK market in a fruitless attempt to encourage Hasbro to support us but it is becoming increasingly clear to me that if I want to actually get the figures I want I will have to go elsewhere.

Besta looks pretty smart, I'll take a proper look when I get home tonight. If I can incorporate a computer desk into it I could replace the entire rooms storage as I was looking to do that at some point. Thanks.

Yeah, the UK distribution sucks and to be honest I find Toys R Us to be a joke, they've still only got the first wave of Generations Legends (Prime and 'Bee) here in the Notts store.

Popped into Warrington Toys R Us yesterday. They had a handful of the re-issue of Masterpiece Grimlock for £69.99 and they also had a handful of Masterpiece Sunstorm too (pretty sure they were £69.99 too) no longer have the Titan Metroplex (Not that I was ever going to buy it, as awesome as it is I just don't have the space for something that large, though I admit I liked picking up the box)

They had the evolution two packs of Optimus and Grimlock for £49.99 and they had both the normal versions of Evasion Optimus and TF4 Grimlock voyagers too.

Nothing of any interest to me, just thought I'd let people know who may be interested :)
