Unpopular opinions.

There is more to Transformers than movies, cartoons, comics and toys. Discuss anything else Transformers here.

The dialouge in Prime doesn't seem to be wooden and bland to me.

I didn't think the Twins from ROTF to be annoying and offensive to be honest.

Que's death in DOTM saddned me more then Ironhide's though poor Iornhid'es death was brutal and tragic all the same.

I dig Optimus's samurai deisgn in Age of Extinction.

I actually like Airachnid from Prime. I don't get why people call her a Blackarachnia ripoff when they have distinct differences to them in terms of personatly and design.

It's the spider thing, a lot of people never look past trivial things like that. "Optimus has flames, Michael Bay must die!" "Ironhide isn't red, my childhood just got raped!" "Hound isn't a Jeep, this movie that isn't even finished yet sucks!" etc.

Even then Airachnid doesn't even have a true spider alt mode. It's more like some walk support thing if that's the word for it. And while they do sometimes have the same kind of seductive voice thing going on their characters are pretty different. Both versions of Blackarachnia have redeeming apsect to them that show they aren't monsters while Airachnid on the other hand is a total sadist that's more on the lines of BW Trantulas and Rampage.

That AOE Optimus Prime is THE coolest looking design of all time. His badass sword and shield alone, make him the best.

And I think Arachnid is a good character, but I still hate her. I'd kill her. Stupid Prime Optimus lets everyone live.

Agreed so much. :) I don't understand why people view them as genderless when it's clear that we've had most male characters act like different types of males.

Anyway here's some more.

I felt that the Decepticons in Prime were still valid threats at times.

I actually like Bumblebee nowadays but don't support him being everywhere.

Wreck Gar and the Constructicons in Animated never bothered me.

Lugnut and Lockdown need more exposure, some of the best Decepticons ever.
Unicron Megatron was the most badass thing that ever happened to Megatron.
Devastator's movie design was badass.
Transformers PS2 (armada)>Every other Transformers game.
Human villains are a good thing if done right.

Energon Robot's design rocks!
Sentinel Prime in Animated is a good guy and one of the greatest characters ever!
Animal based Cybertronians in G1 aren't stupid, they are just... well wild
Galvatron is cool!
CGI feets Transformers very well.

Oh wow, I could probably live here with a disposition like mine.

  • Classics Optimus and Megatron are the best representations of the characters made in plastic to this day(-though with some selectivity regarding Megs himself. I'm not saying his purple green and orange color scheme are bad, in fact I've gotten quite used to them, but it's still comparatively dandy to either the Henkei or United colorations)
  • Peter Cullen is an outdated and overrated hack with zero emotional range
  • Frank Welker's Megatron sounds like and old hag
  • TF Cybertron is a horrible dub. Nothing it adds to make sense of the burning justice moments of Galaxy force is even remotely worth it for all the endless jabbering it throws in during moments of otherwise vocal silence and the altered music cues that just butchers certain scenes.
  • I find no appeal in Generations Metroplex. His city mode is laughable and his size is a waste of space.
  • :michaelbay: this emoticon makes no sense and is not amusing like >:oP this one is
  • Your face is stupid

That's all that springs to mind right now, but I'm sure there are any number of things I'll be able to come up with later... and hopefully won't find myself rambling on at length about.

Animated is the worst TF series to exist

RID is a great series(that needs a DVD releasal)

The Michael Bay movies were good

Starscream should've been the leader in G1

G1 Megatron was a moron, and Gslvatron wasn't much of an upgrade(after all, lava doesn't bother Megatron but it turned Galvatron insane)

Hot Rod didn't suck, nor did Rodimus Prime, who got a bum rap(We got to see Rodimus' screw ups and growth as a leader from day 1, whereas with "The great & sainted" Optimus Prime we saw him as Optimus for like 2 minutes & then we saw him millions of years later AFTER he was battle tested and already grew as a leader)

Peter Cullen can do emotion, the Bay films and his time as Orion Pax in Prime prove as much. They just like the "nnnoooooooo" Optimus better for some reason, so Peter Cullen has to do that Optimus instead.

Silas Breakdown was a 10/10 badass character and idea, they should have kept him longer.

Dreadwing was awesome, though a bit more elaboration as to why he was killing wreckers and his past wouldn't hurt. Same with Breakdown. Hell, all of prime needs some steady backround exposition not written by a hack. .

I've heard his Orion Pax and War for/Fall of Cybertron voice roles. Pax was barely an improvement over the current norm and WFC/FOC Prime was only marginally better at best. Compared to his performance in the G1 cartoon as PrymeStriker noted, it all falls flat.

Probably get stated for this but here goes, Prime in the G1 series is a terrible leader, he crashes on the earth with a legion of Autobot troops that outnumber the Decepticons by about 3 to 1 yet still cannot manage to get the better of Megatron dispite this obvious tactical advantage.

That's why I didn't like Prime. They had a lot of great concepts that were resolved way too quickly. Like Airachnid gaining control of the Insecticons. That could have been an entire season long story arc, but she got thrown in a stasis chamber before she could accomplish anything. The same goes for Starscream with the Apex armor, the Star Saber, Megatron's zombie army, Unicron, or all of those relics they got a hold of and rarely used.

While it sucks that it was thrown to the curb, they couldn't even be bothered with that when one considers what they were dealing with in season two. My attitude is that if you couldn't at least explain it then you shouldn't have put it in the series.

The same goes for Starscream with the Apex armor,

Starscream having the Apex Armor wasn't important period. It's not like the Apex Armor was destroyed after Starscream lost it. It was put to it's best use later when Miko wielded it to rid of Soundwave.

the Star Saber,

The same Star Saber that Bumblebee used to kill Megatron (epically, might I add)? Yeah, that thing was wasted.

Megatron's zombie army,

Which was only ever intended to be a small, kick-off arc which lead to a series of other arcs.

Unicron,

The arc that lead to the entire Iacon Relic hunt in season 2.

Besides, he came back for Predacons Rising.

or all of those relics they got a hold of and rarely used.

You don't have to use a weapon constantly for it to be important. That's called redundancy. Plus, if they used the relics all the time, they could easily get it taken from them by the opposing side.

Besides, a lot of the relics had a significant use in the series:

  • The Apex Armor: Used to distract Soundwave so he would be trapped in the Shadowzone, also saving Jack's life.
  • The Star Saber: Offed Megatron (temporarily).
  • Phase Shifter: Became Smokescreen's signature weapon, and saved him from death probably more times that G1 quotes have been uttered in the series.
  • Forge of Solus Prime: Repaired the Star Saber, saved Optimus Prime's life.
  • Resonance Blaster: Provided Knock Out with the advantage of securing an Omega Key.
  • Omega Lock: Arguably a relic, its copy on the Nemesis provided Cybertron's restoration. It is worth noting anyway.

The only relics that rendered relatively useless in the end were:

  • Spark Extractor
  • The Omega Keys
  • The force field generator

I quit watching during season 2, so the last I saw was Optimus get the Star Saber and Megatron destroy it the next episode. The relics they did use were severely underutilized, like the phase shifter. Instead of using it to sneak into the Decepticon base and sabotage it, they toss it in a closet where it only saw any use when Smokescreen decided to steal it. The point I was making is that as soon as one side gained an advantage it was immediately lost. All that wasted potential really brought the show down for me.

Evil_the_Nub wrote:I quit watching during season 2, so the last I saw was Optimus get the Star Saber and Megatron destroy it the next episode.

The Star Saber comes back.
