UPDATE! RE: BEWARE Scam Seller: "The Arc"

Postby noodles2go » Sat Oct 20, 2012 5:08 pm

********************* UPDATE 11/1/12 *********************

So yesterday, I ended up getting a whole lot more than expected. I had recently purchased classics Grimlock from user AdamFett (good seller!) and was expecting that along with some Hasbro and TFsource packages. What I did NOT expect was a box that came from none other than Joe Sullivan! What? You mean he has made good on his deal? To be honest, I was afraid it may have been a box with rocks or a letter that said F you, but no... In the box included: Henkei Grimlock, Classics Starscream, Thundercracker, and BONUS, Acid Storm. Along with a note. He apologized for having not delivered sooner and his lack of communication. He stated he had some things come up in his personal life and that he hoped he could make good on his mistakes...

I understand things come up in people's personal lives that may prevent you from shipping immediately, or not being able to communicate as often. The problem in all this stemmed from lack of ANY communication, especially after cashing my check. An email saying "Hey, I got your check... but to be honest, I'm in a bind with personal matters and I intend to ship ASAP, we'll keep in touch" would have been somewhat adequate. Sure, I may have been a bit annoyed, but at least I will have some info as to why I hadn't received my toys. Instead, it was dead silence. He hadn't been without a computer as I'd seen his activity log was recent, so a PM could have happened.

That said, he eventually made good, and even threw in an extra figure as a sorry. Yes, I am the forgiving type (so I forgive you, Joe), but understand how your actions effect others and learn from it. Figuring I'd never get a classics Grim from this seller, I bought from another. Here's the funny thing. "The Arc" stated he had a classics Grimlock, but he actually sent me a Henkei one, and the other seller sent me the correct one. So I do have two Grimlocks, but at least they are different versions. Happy accident I guess.

Did he finally do the right thing because I began taking action against him? Don't know. The Arc's personal matters are his own. I will not buy from him again, at least not unless he ships first. I would still be wary about anyone else buying from someone who has their personal life interfering with business, but at least he did the right thing in the end.

********************* END UPDATE *********************

Hey guys, I hate to pull the old call out thread, but I have been scammed.

The user "The Arc" from here at Seibertron.com promised to ship a Classics Starscream, Thundercracker, and Grimlock for $55 and failed to send the items as promised. I have tried to establish contact with him several times the past week and have been continually ignored. He was last active as of Tuesday (Oct 16th). He had read some of my PMs asking about shipment but continued to ignore me once he cashed my check. To my own poor sense of trust, I agreed to a cashier's check instead of using Paypal at his request. I did check his feedback and history and he appeared to be legitimate, but I was wrong. I gave him fair warning before posting this information in an attempt to not jump to conclusions, but at this point, I have no other choice.

The name he gave me is Joe Sullivan from Revere, MA.

This is not a thread to debate how I handled the transaction, I'll be the first to admit I was swindled due to my naivety, but I did attempt to make precautions, however futile. This thread is to warn others about this user and and discuss similar experiences.

I have begun the process of notifying my bank and an investigation will be opened on Monday, followed by a police report once the investigation is complete. I will also be reporting him for mail fraud. I am going to do everything in my power to bring justice to the situation.

Below is the long PM history between me and "The Arc". Please notice the dates as he was prompt with his responses in the beginning... and slowly began making his responses more and more sparse until he began outright ignoring me. I purposely starred out his street address as well as my own.

Here is our history of PMs.

Hey, I ended getting Scourge, but Grimlock, Starscream, and Thundercracker sound appealing. I'm not sure how much you are hoping to get for them, but I'm thinking no more than $15 for each + shipping. Thanks for your interest.

For Starscream and Grimlock I was looking for around $18 each, but I'll settle on $15 for them,Thundercracker I'd gladly do for $15.Figure $8-10 for shipping. So that puts us at $55 for them shipped to your door.Does that sound good?

Let me know,or shoot me a better offer on them.

Thanks again

Joe

Sure $55 flat sounds fair. Let me know how you want to handle the transaction and we'll work something out. Got anything else of interest maybe? Sorry haven't had a chance to check out if you have a sell list. In the midst of cooking dinner >_<.

Do you have paypal? Otherwise I'd feel more comfortable with shipment first before payment, unless you have some feedback you can link too. I have purchased from a user here who can vouch for me,http://www.seibertron.com/energonpub/satomiblood-s-buy-sell-trade-t67218.php highlighted in red. Transaction was smooth and fast for both parties.

Sorry, don't mean to be difficult, just trying to keep things in order per Carbombya's rules -carbombya-rules-please-read-before-you-buy-sell-trade-t16541.php.

Hi Joe, just letting you know I sent out payment, it was estimated to arrive within a week. I was about to do a money order, but my bank wanted to charge me a fee. I asked if there was any free alternative and they suggested using their online version of "bill pay". Not exactly sure on the details as to what is really different, but they claimed the check written to you would work exactly as a money order. You should receive payment in a Wells Fargo (my bank) envelope. Please let me know if you have any problems with this, however, I hope this is sufficient. Again, should arrive within a week. Thanks!

Note: They asked for your phone number which I didn't have so I just used my own... You can ignore it if it shows up anywhere on the check.

Hi again, it looks like you cashed my check as of the 10th and I have not yet heard from you. Have you shipped my items yet?

Hey, I don't mean to sound impatient, but I'd say I've been pretty fair. My bank shows you received and cashed the check last week and you have not responded as of yet. A confirmation would have been appropriate as you had promised. Please contact me asap.

Hi again, I am asking for a response by the end of this week, if I have not heard from you, I will have no other choice but to escalate the matter. If you do not have the items you promised, please send me back the money you have taken ($55). I am still willing to be reasonable if you can send my items as promised. I do not want to create a negative environment, but I do not take kindly to being ignored or cheated. It has been over a week now since you cashed my check according to it's tracking status.

If this is a misunderstanding, I apologize, however your user records indicate you have been active as of tuesday, thus you have read previous messages inquiring about shipment and you have not responded. One can only assume you are ignoring me.

Please contact me asap.

It is unfortunate you have continued to ignore me. I feel I have given you ample time to respond and you have failed to do so. I will have no choice but to bring this to the attention of my bank, this website's b/s/t and similar forums, as well as began the process of reporting you for mail fraud (a federal crime).

The consequences of your actions do not seem worth the $55 you have stolen from me, I'm not sure what has made you decide that it is.

Its sad that people do this,i've been ripped off in the past.More than likely he asked for a money order since paypal would definitely make him pay you back.I guess its possible that something happened to him,but i doubt it.Thanks for the heads up i hope you get your items or money back.

That blows man. Is there some thread or section where you could post this guy's name? Also have you reported him to the Seibertron staff if possible?

Well, I speculate here and the feedback thread would be the only area I can post his information (which I have). I don't see any area what I can report him to Seibertron, but if the mods are reading the B/S/T section, I'd assume they are aware now.

Sorry to see this happen. I also had a problem with someone here last month, and was cheated out of $400. Luckily, I used Paypal and got my money back after a couple of weeks. The bastard never showed his username here again. I have the strong belief that it was an alternate username and the c**ksucker still posts here. Sad that people are so shameless sometimes.

If you believe that there is a user here who uses multiple accounts, let the staff know since that's against our policies and that user will be banned if it's true.

I did. I was told it would be taken care of, and I take the staff at their word. I got reimbursed by Paypal, so everything was smoothed out. I just don't want anyone else to get cheated.
