Va'al's bi-national collection

Motto: "Fnargh."
Ok, so here's the deal.
I'm quite the n00b when it comes to big collections, as most of the ones I used to have as a kid were LEGO.. and we all know what happens to LEGO in the end.

As I had to leave home (Italy) for university (UK), I really wasn't into collecting much, or transporting and so on.
So I've never really had that much.

I had a couple of Beast Wars figures: Magnaboss, Optimus Primal, Inferno and Rhinox, then the Transmetals Optimus Primal and Waspinator. But some of them were lost to my younger brother, and I only have the two apes and Magnaboss left. That was the extent of my collection.
(Remember, this is Italy, so we never really got ANY animated series properly. Apart from Beast Wars, and that was aired around 7.30 in the morning, and we only really got season 1.)

After the first Bay movie came out, I kind of lazily looked around, picked up a couple of bargain Alternators (it was more like: "Oooh! Transformers! For cheap!", at a discount store equivalent), one for me, one for my brother.

Then the second film appeared, and I fell in love with the Sideways figure.
That's when it started again.

Long prologue, I know, you don't have to read it.
Although you're here now, so you probably have.

...is what I wrote when I started the thread.
I've decided to look after this thread better, and organise it in the same way as many other users on here.

So the first post is where the pictures are, the second has the list.
Everything else is comments, or particularly good shots I want to keep separate!

First, the Italian section, with the glorious Detolf display cabinet.

Then, the English one, with the whatever-the-landlord-fitted shelves.

Decided I also wanted to add some of the artwork and comics-related stuff I have, after seeing some really nice threads around here!
Some of these were used copies I found lying around in charity shops, hence the battered look. But they make up for it by having nice treats in them. ;)

There's nothing wrong with having a focus, in your case movieverse, and from the look of things you've gone out of your way to find the most screen accurate versions of many figures (white Demolisher, red Rampage). Feel free to drop by the UK sightings thread in the sightings forum, we're always helping each other out with the best places to find new and, most importantly, cheap stuff. There's already a token German as a regular so you could be our token Italian! Which Uni are you studying at?

Why, thank you!

I do pop in and out of that, and living next to Toys'R'Us in Norwich (I'm at UEA), should allow me to inform of any new arrivals.

(Actually hoping to work for them, so we'll get news even sooner! :P)

The display cabinet is quite empty, but this is due to the fact that most of the figures are up in the UK. I will update around Christmas time, when I can move them back down.
Well, some of them: the main plan was to have a Constructicon shelf (adding Payload and Mixmaster), the other will have to be arranged when I decide what to move.

Thanks again, even if it's just one person, I feel less inadequate now.

a trick i use to eliminate glare is to shoot off center and sometimes i place some printer paper behind them as its uneven surface helps break up the light.

but like others have said there is nothing wrong with being picky as long as youre finding what you really like.the worst feeling is buying something and then realizing you really didnt want it so keep up the great work and good luck in school :D

Cheers man!

I also thought that I could just open the cabinet doors.
That would help. :P

Some time around Christmas I'll update with new photos.
I need to complete the Constructicon shelf, and the sword-bearing one.
List of collection is updated though!
