but that origin story in Incredible Hulk is a reboot.

I think he means its pointless to devote an entire movie to the origin story when one was already made a few years prior. Incredible Hulk didn't bother with the origin story, just putting out the basics in the first few minutes and trusting the viewer knows enough about Hulk. All-Star Superman did the same thing, opening by detailing Superman's origin in nine words.

Exactly. The opening in the incredible hulk movie was everything that people would need to know. Movie may be a reboot but if the way they got the powers is the same then there is little point in rehashing that material unless you intend to deviate from it extremely.

thanks both of you for clearing that up

Fantastic Four teaser trailer!!!

It looks serious, and reminds me of Man of Steel for some reason. It also looks like the Fantastic Four are in with the government, like in the Ultimate Universe??(I have a mini-reprint of the first Ultimate Fantastic Four issue that came with something, and it reminds me of it).

Part where Ben is coming out of rock cocoon looks awesome. I hope this movie surprises me, the lack of info intrigues me.

After watching that I'm still not sold on the idea. I'd much preferred a light hearted approach and, like I've read in some other comments, they had saved Doom for the sequel(and kept him to his original origins).

Though someone else asked a good question. Does the cinematic universe need the fantastic four?

I know it's not but a lot of people want it in there. My question is do Disney really need the rights back. At the moment they seem fine just chugging along with the titles at their disposal

Given that Marvel's reaction to the movie was to cancel the comics ... yeah, they need the rights back.

I want to say Fantastic Four really, really should be part of the Cinematic Universe. I really do. However, the only real reason I can think of is without the Fantastic Four, there would be no Marvel Universe, period. They'd work perfectly fine in the Cinematic Universe yes, but I guess they don't really need them per say.

I guess while I like the characters, I've just never really seeked out their comics, and few of their TV appearances are among my absolute favorite(though some of them are enjoyable). A great movie could change a lot though. Look at what happened to Iron Man. Before the movie he was there and well known, but wasn't a majorly marketed star. After the movie though, tons of merchandise and notoriety.

Did you happen to read what I mentioned about Doctor Doom? Sorry, I shouldn't say "Doctor," since he's not Doctor Doom in the movie; he's Victor Domachev, an anti-social programmer who uses the blogger alias "Doom."

Does that info intrigue you? They've made it pretty clear that don't care about the source material.

It kinda does. If it's going to deviate to an extreme and exist as it's own entity that's fine. I like Man of Steel because it didn't try to recreate the Christopher Reeves films. I really don't like Superman Returns because nothing happens.

There hasn't been a good Fan 4 movie made yet so they may as well try something new. Different is better than forgetable.

If "different" was better, Catwoman wouldn't have bombed so hard. There's a limit on what you can do with "different" before you piss off too many people, but Fox has made it clear that they don't care.

Haven't seen Catwoman, but you're right on that one. One doesn't know until one sees it though. Despite an unusual art style and "ruined forever" cries from fans Transformers Animated turned out to be a highlight of the franchise.

Yeah but that's been part of the transformers fan mentality since beast wars.

In this case they'll win over some people because it's from the guy who directed chronicle. And from those who really want to support a fantastic four movie and think the last two was too campy for the first family of marvel.

I don't think there is an actual episode on it, I think he just mentioned it on the side in another video.

I wanted to check out the Spider-Man series when it first came out in Germany, but it was only made available as an expensive full collected edition of the entire Mangaverse. And I didn't want to spend that kind of money just to check out what it's like.

Yes and no. It's not an episode proper, but it's a live show review.

Lol, I missed the live shows, the only one I watched was the Optimus Prime one. I have no idea why I keep skipping them.
