I know, I know, it's not TF2, but with Transformer's and GI Joe's tight historical ties, I thought it would be fun to present, and that it may be quite interesting to some on this board. At worst, you can enjoy the pictures...

Disclaimer done, to the news:

The "GI JOE MOVIE" will be released on August 7, 2009, according to ComingSoon.Net. A few months after the release of TF2 is scheduled.

Also, it is being reported that actress, Sienna Miller, will be starring in the "GI JOE MOVIE" as The Baroness. Will she break fan boy hearts like Megan Fox did as Micaela? We shall see...

Sienna Miller IMBD

If it was not obvious that she was meant for the part, comparing the statue and the magazine cover (her w/tiger), I would say she fits if you give her a black hair dye!

You can discuss this and more GI Joe, Star Wars, sports, world news and other random items in the Seibertron.com General Discussion Forum.

Well that sucks.
I was hoping that part would be played by Mo'Nique.

"Monique" is a name in itself, which makes me wonder what goes between the "o" and "n" in her name that demands an apostrophe.

Oh just what we needed, Hollywood screwing up another franchise just like they screw up this one.

And Sienna Miller as Baroness... wow great was to miscast the part...

Huh. I probably would've cast Sienna Guillory off the top of my head (loved her as Jill Valentine, and she pulled off a pretty convincing accent in that role) -- or even Penelope Cruz, since Penelope Cruz should have a major role in every film ever -- but maybe this actress will be okay. She looks a bit too young and cutesy to play the Baroness IMO, though.

Why is this such a bad thing? Who would you recommend play the part?

Yep, but she would have to lose about 200 lbs before her first scene.

Hm, i wonder why they bothered with doing this movie. For all i know GI Joe is only famous in the US. Oh well.

GI JOE is famous in other countries too. The rest of the world hates america and wants cobra to win.

They tried relaunching GI Joe internationally in 2003. The toys came out a week before the Iraq war started. Public support for military action was... well, in a country of 50 million people over one million turned out to a single protest march in London. If memory serves, the first report of British casualties resulted from a US helicopter crashing into them, and the next two were friendly fire from US units. Between the two, you can probably imagine why it all went half-price within a couple of months and nowhere stocked anything beyond wave 1.

EDIT: It's not so much that we 'Hate America(TM)' but the "World Police(also TM)" attitude of the current leadership makes their armed forces less popular than they've been since Vietnam. A sensible government could work wonders to heal the damage the current one has done. Probably not in time for this film, sadly.

I liked Sigma Six. It was done by 4Kids, who are notorious for screwing up the things they do. But they didn't screw up GI Joe. I must admit, I was astounded by that. The only other series to rock so hard from 4Kids was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and they screwed that up by canceling it and replacing it with that Fast Forward crap.

So...I have pretty good hopes for this. A much more realistic GI Joe. I just hope they don't make Cobra do crazy schemes that Bond Villains turned down, like they would always do in the cartoons. That would be dumb.

i dont think Sigma Six was an actual 4kids production...it looked like a japanese show with english dubbing. the animation was way too good for an american animation tv series and it had that anime look and style and sensibilities.

as for sienna miller, i read about this earlier this week but i remember them saying she'd be playing a redhead so i assumed she'd be that redhead GI JOE girl. forgive me for not knowing the name but i never watched or followed this cartoon.

Scarlett. She and Snake Eyes had a "thing". Action Force was up the back of the UK TF comic. I wasn't really into it but I picked up a working knowledge of who's who :)

Maybe they should have tried to make an Action Force (International Heroes) movie? Flint is former SAS (British special forces), Scarlett is, I think, Irish... keep enough of the multicultural characters and you might just be able to pull it off :)

And the whining begins. Dear nerd-lord in Skywalker Ranch, can't there be a movie based on a toyline/comic/cartoon that people why cry a river about before seeing any sort of footage?

Apparently not.

The choice for Baroness was perfect. However the pictures shown don't really do her justice.

The only fear I have, is I hope she can pull off the accent, and be evil as hell.

And, at least they're going a step in the right direction for the movie. No longer will it be a Action Man/Duke buddy cop flick. But actually have Joe's, and Cobra in it.

Of course this movie could bomb. But it doesn't matter. We're all going to end up seeing it in theaters a few times anyway.

Hmmm.....I probably would've chosen someone like Angelina Jolie to play the Baroness. Come on, you have to admit that she can perfect in some roles for villainesses.

First an Aussie gets cast as the lead, and now a way too thin Pom gets the female lead. Are there that few Yanks to take the roles? ;p

Yeah she's good, still upset about Markie Mark.

But more inportant, WHERE CAN I SCORE THAT STATUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, on a unrelated happy note, I sent pics of MP StarScream to everyone I know and told them to keep their eyes peeled for me. I just got an email from my sister and she told me that she went on ebay and just scored me 2!

Yeah but she costs alot and if they're thinking sequil, she'll only run them more. I think alot of franchises learned from the X-Men movies about the value of star power vs general hot actress.

You wanna know something, AMERICANS feel the same way. But we THE PEOPLE aren't going to be bashed because a leader (encouraged by other parts of the world) went into a war for the wrong reasons.

As for the "World Police". I can't tell you how many American's feel we shouldn't be that, and how many imigrants and refugies here keep saying it's our responsibility, and curse us for not doing more as the live in these lands.

If we're so bad here, why didn't you stay in your nation, or move to another one?

I say, and I know I'm not alone, lets leave you all to your self rightious selves, and see how you handle it when the next Hitler comes :P

So, no Cobra Commander? No "A Real American Hero"?
This ain't G.I. Joe, this is Action Force.
