I'm sorry but if Harvick wins the title it will not be by luck. He's where he's at in points for a reason. The talent and equipment are there. I made the call pre season and I'm sticking with my prediciton. Kevin Harvick is my choice for champion. They will learn from last years mistakes and be there at the end.

Yeah. That reason is the points system. I like the new way of awarding 1 point per spot, but wins should count as just wins, nothing extra.

The talent and equipment are there.

RCR has good equipment and they made the most of it this year. But Harvick's talent? He's where is because of the equipment. Then again, so are most of them.

Years and years of mistakes. That's why he's not going to be a champion. Of course, I'm going with Kyle Busch. One-on-one, Harvick tastes his fumes. Fortunately for Harvick, it's a group sport.

However, along with talent and equipment there's the crew. May the best team win.

Really, at this point, it's ANYONE's championship to win in the top 10. As usual, I'm rooting for Jeff Gordon even though he's about done with success.

But I would like to comment on Kevin Harvick:
Harvick doesn't have a job because he sucks. He didn't replace Dale Earnhardt because he sucked. He isn't leading the points because he sucks, and he doesn't have 4 wins this year because he sucks. Yeah, he has good equipment- great equipment- but where did Mike Skinner or Johnny Sauter or Dave Blaney or Steve Park or Jeff Green or Robby Gordon or Casey Mears go with that same epuipment compared to Harvick? How much have the other current drivers done that are on the RCR team compared to Harvick? Yeah, Kevin Harvick's an immature thoughtless jerk, but he's actually accomplished something that some other drivers leave their careers not doing: he's won races, 18 of them (coincidentally the same number as Dale Jr). Unfortunately for KH, that's five shy of Kyle Busch in a longer span of time, but it's enough to let the guy race. He's had a damn good season this year (despite going berserk on a guy who did nothing wrong), and he's obviously been doing something right since his good 2010 season. He just needs some self-control, or else he's not going to excel much more.

And on Kyle Busch:
Kyle Busch, on the other hand, is a freaking prodigy, and one of the greatest drivers to arrive post-2000. Unfortunately, he's also an immature thoughtless jerk. What's funny is that it makes him an entertaining rival for Kevin Harvick.

I just wish NASCAR would actually stick to their word and let the guys settle things on the track and just leave it at that. It can't be like the old days if the specter of heavy fines and points losses are above the drivers' heads. I understand that the sport is much more commercialized and there are more high profile sponsors represented, but I for one would have loved to see Kyle get out of the car and retaliate after that race where he was sucker punched by Harvick when he was still strapped into his car. I did laugh when he just pushed Harvick's car into the wall and drove away. Harvick's such a douchebag. However, I will relent just a bit on his lack of talent, and agree with OptiMagnus. He has done more with the same that others couldn't. Still can't hold a candle to Kyle Busch, though.

Finally a glimmer of hope to a "non Johnson" cup winner this year..

Go Smoke!!
Hell I like Harvick too!

I'd rather see Johnson get his sixth than Harvick win one. Hopefully Kyle gets his first of many.

It appears that Kyle Busch's hopes for a championship are officially over. I personally think he got a fair enough punishment. I was starting to like him again until he showed he's just as immature as Harvick, if not worse.

So...it's still unknown who's going to win it all. Edwards could hold on, Stewart could win another race and take the lead, or they could both screw up and let the others in. I personally think Edwards is going to win it, albeit hanging by a thread.

Harvick isn't immature, just mediocre.

As for Busch's penalty, he got what he deserved. He wasn't gonna be champ this year anyway. It was a stupid thing to do under caution, wrecking and endangering another driver. Under green at least he could have pretended to "race hard." Hornaday did have retaliation coming, as what he did was stupid and dangerous as well. The only positive out of that situation is that maybe next time another driver will think twice before trying to force 3-wide with Kyle where it shouldn't be.

I'm going for Smoke. I like Cousin Carl, but I don't like the rest of Roush Racing (except for David Ragan, he's OK), so hopefully he won't win until he decides to go somewhere else. As for both of them screwing up, they would both have to mess up in both races, and that's highly unlikely.
