It's definitely something I'd like to see implemented as well.

A like function would be pretty good, as long as it isn't overly intrusive. But yeah, overall it's a good idea.

One idea I had was some kind of interactive/flash game section- like, maybe a "build a bot" style thing, a bit like a cross between Wayward's Seeker generator and some of Hasbro's online games only more in-depth. Sadly I'm completely coding-illiterate so I'd be of no use beyond suggesting ideas.

I know this has been requested by many site users but since nothing has been done, I thought I would mention it again...

Get a server that is smart phone friendly. Sometimes writing and posting a comment is nearly impossible. The smart phone keyboard just doesnt catch. You gotta keep hitting refresh a dozen times before it lets you type more than 3 letters without disappearing.

I use many forum websites (transformers and non-transformers sites) yet this is the only one that I have problems posting on a smart phone.

I could be wrong, but I have the feeling this problem is being overlooked because of the assumption that only a minority of site users post from cell phones. The stereotypical transformers fan works in an office and uses a desktop or laptop to access this site problem free...I get it. But thats not the case for everybody. There are fans who only have time to access this site on the go. For example on lunch break, at the bar drinking a cold one, or even on the toilet. (lol)

I say this with all due respect because Im cool with Ryan and dont want to come off as sounding like a prick. But whatever server is being used, can you just get rid of it and get what every other site is using? Ask around, Im sure other website owners could reccomend the best server to accomodate smart phone users if you shoot them a friendly e-mail. Thanks in advance...X

It's not being overlooked. It's just not as simple as you seem to think it is. (Something we've explained to you before)

I hear you bro...nothing in life is simple. But other sites are making it look simple. Theres no denying that. My guess is that the switch would require a lot of work that is very time consuming. I suppose transferring over is not as easy as starting a site from scratch. And theres no denying time is money. So my guess is theres no incentive to do all the work required for a switch. Keep in mind this is all pure speculation since Im not an IT expert.

If this is implemented I have a few suggestions:

1. Maximum of 3 likes/unlike in 24 hours (to prevent spamming)
2. There must be a reason slot posted why like/unlike(will only show up in the recipient's user control panel together with the name of the poster) If no reason, the like/unlike won't be processed.
3 Must have a minimum of at least 20 posts in the site to be able to use the feature

The ones with the highest likes (depending on the average range) gets a customized logo or something.

Curious as to why you believe spamming would be an issue? (Given that it would just be a tag to the post and not an actual new post)

2. There must be a reason slot posted why like/unlike(will only show up in the recipient's user control panel together with the name of the poster) If no reason, the like/unlike won't be processed.

That would defeat the whole purpose of the "Like" button. A person can just "Like" the post without having to reply. Add in having to put a reason, then they may as well just reply to the post.

3 Must have a minimum of at least 20 posts in the site to be able to use the feature

Personally I don't think it's necessary but I would like to hear your reasoning on this.

hmmm...maybe.

The reason slot part would be similar to when we post a complaint. Rationale is, if you have some nice to say about let's say Burn, you post something like "awwwww he loves cats and I also love cats", but only Burn can see it.

Or.Burn is a dictator with an iron fist......thumbs DOWN! ;)

This also avoids the tendency to suck up in public (maybe privately its okay to suck up  )

20 posts minimum limit because I notice some just post like spambots (though it's lessened somewhat) and other nonesense. It also shows how "invested" you are in the site.

Customized GIFS or any emoticons of TFs for those with the highest thumbs up. Or maybe Studio Sig or avatars.

Yeah but again, the whole idea of a "Like" post is so people can just quickly show their approval for a post without having to go through the process of replying, typing, submitting etc.

20 posts minimum limit because I notice some just post like spambots (though it's lessened somewhat) and other nonesense. It also shows how "invested" you are in the site.

See, I get where you're coming from. And yeah, there are some "spamish" type posts out there (hell, I'll admit to being guilty of them now and then) but it's just a "Like". If there's no incentive (like a post count, it's JUST a title people!) then it shouldn't be a problem (but I will concede there's always the possibility)

Likes/+1s/etc - this is a cool idea.

Unlikes/downvotes/etc - this is not Reddit and I don't think there should be a strive to be like it.

Moving on to another topic now...

Just to echo Burn - it's absolutely being looked at and seriously.

From a more technical perspective - moving a legacy site to a responsive design framework can be easy, or it can be a pain. On a site like this one that's basically coded from scratch outside of the board software, it's a big pain.

It's not my place to speak definitively on what's being worked on and what the targets are for this, but just wanted to chime in as someone with at least a cursory technical knowledge of the work involved and say that it's most definitely not a tiny simple thing to do :)

I did have another idea actually- I don't know how easy it would be to implement, but how about custom user titles that could be gifted by the staff onto particularly noteworthy posters? (Or themselves if they felt like it). So for example (not using any actual usernames to avoid arguments) User Z has posted for a long time, contributes a lot and is generally a pillar of the community. As such, he is awarded a silly title- as he is a Beast Wars fan through and through, he is gifted the title "MUNKY NOT TRUKK".

Just a thought anyway.

It's possible. Little bit of work for those with Admin powers to do, and I have been tempted to give a couple of people some different titles simply for shits and giggles.

This is something we should probably look at. If anyone has any ideas on how we can go about giving out these "rewards", post them.

Standard ones for post milestones? 200 posts, 500, 1000; I guess that already happens

Perhaps ones based on which forum they are most active in (something that is already recorded) e.g. videogames, TT stuff, cw, comics, mp...

I think what it may come down to is to have a list of 15-50 titles, and the admin would have to know the user enough to choose what they get - of course the could/should discuss it with other admin to know who should get what, or the admin could vote

But beyond anything else, we'll need an 'Alpha-Bravo is Lord and Savior' one for Va'al

Could it be made a 'sub-title'? A secondary title below the one generated by the site that's initialized as being blank and could then be modified by admin?

Sounds like something that needs to be changed in the coding as I haven't seen anything in the ACP.

It would probably be easy to implement, but the 'admin => user' banner-giving might not be, the code would probably be similar to giving warnings, that could be modified;

Otherwise it could be done as jpeg overlays, like formatted to go around a user's avatar, or somewhere else that is of a standard size. But that might no be very easy either. Plus, you would have to source an artist, or something, to make the banners, and then, numbers would work against you :-?
