More hours, sweat, blood and tears went into this project... than any other of my customs. The holy grail of details. Each figure in this diorama is carefully depicted in the following threads :

Rumble, Frenzy, Ravage, and Laserbeak

MP Soundwave

http://procustomizers.com/showthread.php?t=6621&highlight=soundwave

MP Starscream

Reflector

Megatron and throne

I don't even know where to start with this project's description. Client wanted a display / diorama to fit on his shelf. So, with the diorama/display - I started with igear's Ark playset/base (not the greatest engineered piece by a long shot) hacked the hell out of, custom built floor, added sections (some even scratch-built) of console, custom walls, etc. Went to town for several days on the details, every single frikin button is painted, and was then coated with several layers of gloss to create an embossed button look. Monitors/screens illuminate and were reverse printed on clear plexi, and backlit, painted with translucent white.

Specs/Details of diorama (see threads above for characters)
- Scratch built light up energon cubes
- Custom built energon hose with flickering effect LED mimicking flowing energon
- Embossed faction symbols
- 3 illuminated monitors
- 7 illuminated screens
- "transforming" MP Soundwave (from WST on console, to mid-transformation G1 sized Soundwave, to robot mode (MP Soundwave)
- Electro-luminescent lines on base's floor
- Various LEDs all over
- Dimensions : 30" wide x 14" deep x 14" tall(76.2 cm x 35.56 cm x 35.56 cm)
- Display include plexi/acrylic cover (not shown)
- Characters are fused to the base. Most retain articulation, but all feet are fused to the base's floor.
All component with LEDs all stream to a main control / circuit board. Big Hank (master of electronics) actually took a flight up to my shop Easter weekend to wire this all up. There are roughly 100 wires going to the circuit board. The diorama's lights are toggled by 3 small switches on the left side of the piece. 1 switch for the floor panel lights (x5) 1 switch for the monitors, 1 switch for all the characters. Most components all have proper resistors installed in their wiring as well (helps dim the brightness, and control the flow of the power) Diorama's light are powered by a 3 volt wall adapter!

In addition, you might notice that Laserbeak, Ravage, Frenzy and Rumble all have working LED lights in their optic sensors. All done by Big Hank (amazingly impressive too) He used SMT lights in them, each light measuring about 1mm - 2mm in size!

This diorama was difficult to photograph (because of the size, lighting, etc) yet, the entire gallery can be seen : http://www.flickr.com/photos/accardi1/sets/72157626474311593/with/5664298571/

Here's a blurry video of the project :

Whoa! That is pretty over-the-top sweetness!!! You can just feel the love that went into making that diorama coming off the pictures! What a treat to look at too; it makes the kid in me all G1 giddy! I can hear Megatron in all his classic, raspy evil-ness already: "Starscream, where are you, you incompetent scrap-heap!?" :D

Again, nice work, man, very, very impressive!

Wow.

I saw some of your stuff online, then I got to see it in person at the New Jersey Collectors Convention. The pictures just don't do the figures justice. I hope I get to see these guys in person sometime.

Impressive.

You people w/ talent make me  w/ jealousy.
That is really awesome. You even have Soundwave transforming from his cassette deck mode.
How come people w/ this kind of talent don't get the jobs making the toys?

Because (at least I think) The original legs were too skinny and fragile and dis-proportionet. this however, looks much better!
