The State of HMW (on-going updates)

This thread will be used to keep players apprised of any updates to HMW.
This could range from fixing a typo in a mission brief to announcing that the HMW control panel has been updated to the point we can fix typos in mission briefs.

LIGHTSABERS
Are now back in stock.

Lighgsaber, Black Lighgsaber, Green Lighgsaber, Red Lighgsaber, and Purple Lighgsaber have all been into line with each other. This may have included a reduction/increase in damage, cost, and stats required.

Dual-Bladed Lighgsaber remains unchanged

Now and then I've received PM's or just stumbled across people who were once Maximals or Predacons and then found themselves with access to the wrong faction forum after the Maximal and Predacon factions were removed.

So I have gone through and removed ALL members from the Maximal and Predacon groups.

What does this mean?

Members may find themselves without access to their faction forums. Getting access back is easy, just shoot me a Private Message.

If anyone bought that 512mb USB Stick for 100K ... it's now been deleted.

It's a temporary thing I use to pay Autobots who do stuff for me.

Might want to check the bot you equipped it to...

Quite possibly the most iconic weapon in TF lore. Megatrons weapon. It belongs to the Cons.

But it's always been THE weapon in this game because it's had no equal.

Until now.

MAGNUS HAMMER
Secretly, he's always had time, he's just picks and chooses which bullshit he deals with and when (like me), the hammer of Ultra Magnus, the guy who upholds the laws (like me!)

It's stats were close to the Fusion Cannon, but it had the liability of a short recharge. It's stats have now been brought into line with the Fusion Cannon, making it the Autobot equivalent.

Oh and they've both been restocked.

The following weapons have been removed because from memory they were from shits and giggles. They can easily be recreated as rewards in future events.

Dead
Banhammer
heavy kick to the nuts
Name Violations prototype
Exploding Huggles

The following weapons have been restocked as correct channels were followed (pm'ing me will not get weapons restocked, there's a thread for that)

Brawn Blasters
Electric Cannon
XS2 Ionised Null-Ray

Just so I don't have to keep saying this or answering this, the Missions portion of the Control Panel is still a work in progress.

Ryan recently made changes to some code behind the scenes to help make it easier for him to code going forward. Some how this has triggered a number (possibly all) of older missions.

At this point in time we cannot add missions, we cannot deactivate missions.

There is nothing new. Do not get overly excited.

I've been working on cleaning up code, directory structure, and old files that I've determined are no longer needed. I have a backup folder with a replica of the game before I started hacking it apart and making all of the game-wide changes.

I removed a lot of unnecessary files from the HMW directory on the server today. If you notice any missing files (mostly images), please let me know and I will either restore the directory or files as needed.

A lot of code clean-up has been going on behind the scenes. I removed duplicate functions that someone had replicated wherever they needed them instead of using 1 common shared file. I renamed functions, variables, etc to follow a more unified theme. Those changes have also been pushed.

I'm working toward the goal of giving Burn an admin section where he can manage more of the things like Missions and such. In order to do that, I have to clean up all of this code. Will work on this some more later tonight.

No mission admin section yet, Burn. I'm still undecided what the best solution is yet.

Phasewing is our resident alt mode image creator. She'll be wanting to know if/when we'll be able to add more of her creations.

Non-Aligned and Cybertronian (plus the Quints and Unicron).
Don't expect to see these four any time soon unless the game grows dramatically and can support that many factions.

I forgot the cybertonian factions. Yeah I wouldn't expect it straight away as there would need to be a few changes in structure for the game to make it work I would imagine. Still, a vision for the future is always a good thing to have.

What if these factrions were simply cosmetic? From what I understand, the old Maximal/Predacon factions were aligned where Maximals could fight Autobots, etc (please correct me if I'm wrong - I wasn't around during those times) and so were separate from Autobots, completely.

If being aligned as a Maximal meant you simply got access to a variety of special alts and mission texts but were essentially on the same side as Autobots, it might run a lot smoother and wouldn't require a large player base. (ex: a 5-7 mission exists for both Autobots and Maximals, where both can join, but the mission text is one thing for Autobots and something else for Maximals, just like how Autobot and Decepticon texts are now.)

To be clear, I'm not hoping for alternative faction implementation, as I'm perfectly content with simply role-playing the Maximal faction. It was an idea I'd wondered about previously and thought I'd bring up.

EDIT: I'm not sure what the purpose was, originally, in adding them, or to what extent the changes ran. If this isn't relevant to their purpose in being created, which to my knowledge was simply to be a part of a faction other than 'Bot/'Con, feel free to ignore it. (not sure if there were other benefits/parts of the game that were supported by faction variation, for example).
